Yet I’ve picked up stuff from my local Dpd depot and not been asked for ID. All depends on the day and who’s serving.

For most people things will probably be much the same as they are now. Just as things mostly are the same as 10 years ago. Just odd changes around the edges and a few things that were completely unforseen.

Fast is all relative, I’ve got an engine and a punch so strava kom’s and a top 20 age category Velethon time are all there. But all that does is impresse non cyclists 🙁 I’m no where close to proper racers, and the proper racers I know aren’t close to the pro’s we watch on TV doing the impossible !!!

This was for 2 adults 2 children,4-5 star all inclusive somewhere in the sun, seems to be 2 grand more than last year for same thing

It’s way beyond anything I would spend even if I could sort of afford it. Last holiday I took with my kids was 18mnts ago to Lake Garda in July.
4 easyjet flights to Venice £450
    Apartment found on booking.com £600
    Car hire £120
    Parking at Bristol airport £50
So about £1,200. I know it’s not all inclusive (sends me cold) so I spend about another £1000. Absolutely fantastic time another nearly £5000 wouldn’t have brought me a seconds more enjoyment.

My mum’s still with us but only just 🙁 But she’s lived her life believing that if something isn’t fun it isn’t worth doing 😀 If you can’t knuckle down and get out at least 3 times a week the 40 miler isn’t going to be fun just bloody hard !! Unless your feeling super strong on the day aim for the 25 and enjoy it.

It’s bothering me a bit, I don’t want people to think I’m a tit, but I’m aware now that people who know us will think we’re cheap ****.

Just buy one that says AMY then. Problem sorted, but honestly nobody really cares what your plate says or doesn’t say.

Cheers, as above might try and sort some spacers out myself. I can redish or build up a wheel myself so a new hub at least will be in my future, it’s just about spreading the financial pain 😆

Willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one’s own; open to new ideas. Yes that’s Liberal, but if said behaviour is tantamount to torture of man or beast, it’s not compatible.

Won’t argue on this, so this will be my last post on the thread. I agree that there can be limits to what is or isn’t acceptable. But using your limits as to what is acceptable and expecting everyone to agree isn’t being liberal. Society as a whole has to come to agreement. My hope is that in time attitudes towards fox hunting amongst those that do it gradually change, and it eventually dies out.

Is it possible to be neither for or against ? Perhaps accept that others do things that “you” find objectionable but that they view things differently.
Being truly liberal is understanding this.

My old ratio is 17.9 gear inches, my new one 19.2. Which isn’t much different.

Its a fair bit different, maybe the difference between getting up a climb with tired legs and walking.
But the moral of this thread is ride what suits you and not be swayed by fashion. Also discussing gear ratios on a forum is pointless !!!

Dont need the bottom one though, what size/type is the top bearing?

I’d get the 2. I go through bottom bearings much quicker than the top one. It’ll need changing soon enough. You might find the bearings elsewhere but they might be a manufacturers special order and not generally available. I’m thinking about my Canyon cf ultimate slx with that.

But almost completely usless in the UK, where could you legally ride one unless you had a land owners permission ?

He’s not perfect by a long stretch but I do feel that he will be judged much more kindly by history than he is now.

Definitely, but politicians that served at high ministerial level always get offered knighthoods ect, not sure why it should be different for Clegg. Come the day of the revolution this honours thing will be in the bin anyway 😉

My point is that bike companies are subject to the exact same market forces and requirements of any other business, so why shouldn’t they act like other businesses? Stw forum gives the impression that the bike industry should exist in a bubble out with that of the rest of the economy…

I don’t disagree with this at all. The bike industry wants to sell bikes, the media relies on a buoyant Industry to sell their products. It’s just how it is, but how it’s done is not always in the customers best interest.

Genuine question – can someone post examples of each of these?

You wont find an example of bike manufacturers or the media saying last years bikes are now rubbish. It’s just when they gush about how a 6mm wider hub, 10% stiffer frame and different size wheels are better. They create the impression that what went before isn’t as good. People in their own minds translate that into rubbish. The industry knows thats how people work and count on it to sell new bikes.

Did you get the original estimate in writing ?
If so go into dispute mode and ask for a writen detailed breakdown of the extra costs.

3% of reported rapes lead to a conviction.

I’ve seen figures of between 3-8% of rape accusations actually being false. I presume thats proven to be false as if it was in court. But how many of the 97% were falsely accused but it couldn’t be proved either way. I don’t belive all of the accused who “escaped” justice were actually guilty. I guess we’ll never know.
And I have seen first hand the impact of rape and false accusations. Both can have a terrible impact on the victim 🙁

We’re making a roast dinner. I bought some sprouts yesterday. Going to buy carrots today. Probably from a greengrocer. Life in the fast lane!

Exactly Christmas dinner is just that a roast dinner surely? Never really got the fuss about the actual meal. I prefer a nice steak so that’s what the taxi family is having this year 😀

I think the accused should remain anonymous, until proven guilty.

The feeling is by publishing the accused name other victims will come forward. It’s probably true that rapists will have more than one victim.

The small unfairness on men is outweighed by the much higher unfairness to women.

It’s not a small unfairness it’s a huge injustice that is greater than the hope of bringing forward new evidence IMHO.

Sadly, no. Mine was ace – kind, easy-going and very thoughtful. My wife misses her mum especially at this time of year, so she will have a little tear in her eye at point or another. She never makes a fuss and no one else realises, but I do and I wish my wife still had her here. She would only be 69 and died 10 years ago this year. RIP Jen, you were one in a million.

Ditto. Miss Mary loads, will raise a glass of something nice to her, as I always do every Christmas.

Still is, I used to get grief in clwb ifor Bach in Cardiff in the 90’s, for not speaking Welsh

Only about 10% of Cardiffians can actually speak Welsh with any fluency. As an English speaking Welshman I can honestly say no ones ever remotely made it a problem. Just because you hear people speaking Welsh it doesn’t mean their talking about you !!

Will Davis be as good as his word?

Green resigned not sacked, Davies is of the hook, how can you think it would be any other way.

Hope you get better soon Op. Touch wood despite many close shaves I’ve never been knocked off on the road.
I know this might only be my view, but if the collision involved someone I knew, unless I suffered a financial loss as a result of my injuries I wouldn’t be claiming for them. I’ve hurt myself so often a few more is neither here nor there, to me anyway. But if your going to loose financially then this……..

If any party is injured the police must be informed. I would report the incident today and ask him to inform his insurance company, you may know the guy but he’s not going to cough up for ongoing medical treatment, loss of earnings etc

then, my last bike I sat on one in a shop, a bit later bought online. I think it might be slightly too small, but the large felt too big in the shop. Fantastic ride though, so no regrets.

    Classy.

Maybe they couldn’t get the medium the poster wanted as the large felt to big ?
But just popping into a shop and sitting on a bike is hardly a commitment to buy it.

But what kind of person just does this and drives off?

That will be just about everyone, apart from members of this forum. Had damage done to my cars or Mrstaxi’s probably about 10 times, never a note. Im fact I don’t know of anyone who had a note with proper details left on their car. It must happen but is very rare IMHO.

I assume you have no view on female circumcision either then and women who object can be ignored as they have never had it done.

When you use female circumcision in an argument about pit girls you loose all credibility Junkyard. If you can’t see that your a bit lost mate 🙁

I wouldn’t usually bother replying to a topic once it gets to this stage of the same old tiresome arguing going on that seems to happen about anything remotely controversial.

Yup. Continually prolonged by the same old people who’ve said the same thing 100 times but just can’t be seen to back down or not have the last word 🙁
    P.s
The only opinion I have on grid girls is that if some women want to do it, and are happy to do so, well good luck to them.

If you want new as said Chinese carbon.
But if you bought this and sold all the bits how much would the frame end up costing you ? Probably still a fair bit more than £1000.
