It took 21 hours, which is way slower than usual, but the “its only a car” response can never stay away too long on STW.

But it’s largely true. I’d love to get away from the culture of cars being precious objects. Their tools for a job. Minor bumps and scrapes are just patina as far as I’m concerned. I’d never be reckless or careless around over people’s property, but shit happens. Fix your car or better still leave it. I just don’t get the whole my cars worth X thousands and a dent devalues it mentally. It’s just something to get you from A to B at the end of the day.

    – I reckon £3-400 as a cash-in-hand job at the local body shop to fix,

Find yourself a new local body shop. For how you describe the damage that doesn’t sound like a “cash in hand” price.

This is Jake my friend Shirley’s Boa. She’s had her (jakes a she) for 15yrs and is one of the biggest privately owned snakes I’ve heard of. Always fun when she brings her up the pub. Getting under the floorboards is no longer a problem 😮

Well I picked up a cold last week and have has a chest infection for the last six days !!  You would have been ill whever you cycled, drove, flew or sailed down.

I’ve forgotten the number of holidays I’ve had that I’ve been ill on, just crack on and make the most of it 👍

3 weeks takes a lot out of the legs. GT is still looking pretty fresh, I’m going to have a cheeky fiver on him winning the TT tomorrow 👍

I’m a fan of Budgie smugglers for swimming. Feels much better than baggies with all that wet material flapping around.

I’d were them over here, but Mrs taxi won’t be seen dead with me if I do 🙁

Brailsford is a man without worth or morals.

A big statement, obviously your entitled to an opinion, but I can’t think how it’s in the slightest a thoughtful opinion.

He by any measurable stantard has a great deal of worth. His morals are his own, obviously different from yours ( or you perceive them to be different) as are everybody’s.

As to his treatment by the fans, I think that’s poor but no worse than Brailsford.

    What do you mean ?

God there’s some male hens out on this thread 🙄🙄

It’s an ambulance, it wouldn’t fit in a parking bay and the crew needed some water FFS.

I don’t feel sorry for him regarding probably not winning the TDF. Four wins, going for four GT titles in a row 😮😮. Something had to give somewhere, and I think he’ll be genuinely pleased for Geraint if he holds on to Paris.

But he’s a proper gentleman and a great champion, nobody deserves the abuse he’s taken not given the sweat an effort he’s put into the race. I certainly feel sorry for him over that. There really isn’t words I can use on here to describe the boo boys 😠

If you were only drinking a relatively small amount, not getting drunk and enjoying it – why do you feel like you need to stop?

    Exactly !!

I like a moderate drink it’s a part of a lifestyle I very much enjoy. Along with my cycling I could imagine giving it up unless there was a real health issue involved.

Obviously do what you feel is right for you. But bringing it up on a forum will attract opinion.

Dig it out of the bin OP. Take a photo of the complete helmet straps and all. Only way to tell whats going on and to vindicate your self 👍

£200 wheels wouldn’t really be an “upgrade” from what you have. Save some money and double your budget for noticeably better wheels.

Start with some tyres the gators you have aren’t the nicest feeling tyres out there. Some gp400’s will improve the ride a fair bit.

I was going to. But that nonsense regarding the steering wheel lost all my sympathy 😑

I’ve absolutely no practical advise. But your forum name is the same as a great pub band who do the rounds by me. This is them at my local, at least they might cheer you up a bit 😁

If the sealing face on the nipple looks ok I’d be suprised if a new one sorted the problem. There could be damage in the calipre itself.

For £25 I’d be tempted to change the lot and save any bother.

. I’d suggest that the problem here -for some – is that they are booing British riders in a British team.

Maybe that’s true, but what would be the problem with that ? Not sure when it’s been wrong for British people to support British riders in a British team.

But I’d call out any “so called” fans booing ANY rider after the effort and entertaining everyone of them gave today !!!

Do you know how much they smoked. Did the driver looked stoned ?

If you saw someone have beer/glass of wine then drive, would you call the police despite having no idea whever the were over the limit or not.

Your police mate’s response seems perfectly sensible to me.

hate to say this but Cav looks like he’s lost his nerve.

My thoughts 🙁 Hopefully he’s just realising he hasn’t got the legs so just not trying. It’s all a bit sad he’s been such a great rider.

) I’ve always viewed crashes as being one of the risks and I’d probably just suck it up.

It’s this really. If I thought the rider who’d caused the crash had ridden like a knob I’d certainly tell them so, but if you ride an expensive bike in a group best make sure you can afford to repair it.

the op has a right to live unreasonable disruption or discomfort.

There’s the problem, everybody has a different view of resonable. I wouldn’t like the smell of weed all the time, but others couldn’t care less. Do we try and cater to the most sensitive or try and practice tolerance.

If your neighbours are made aware of the problem perhaps smoking in a room without an adjoining wall might sort it out.

I wouldn’t have gone to hospital for that. But your finger your choice. It wouldn’t enter my head that I wouldn’t be riding in a couple of weeks either 😎😎

I tend to support teams that have British riders. G and Luke Rowe are local to me so Sky has more of my interest than any other team. But really I watch it for the scenery, and hopefully exciting racing whoever provides it.

So if i  talk to him,and nothing changes, i just have to sit in my crap house, subjected to smoke/smells that are forced onto me by stoners that dont work and sponge off the system

You might have to yes. If they decide to not give up the weed, you escalate and the police and council aren’t interested (it is only people smoking in their own home) you’ll be stuck with the situation.

Pot is not that strong a smell; no stronger than those I’d say.

Weed is, I can smell it on people as soon as they get in my car, tobacco ect not nearly so much. It lingers aswell so I keep a can of neotrodol for when they get out. Saying that I’d bet the OP’s neighbours have no idea he can smell it in his house.

I’m amazed it’s coming through the walls. But it won’t be in any concentration high enough to actually “affect” you or your family.

But it would bother me as well, you’ll have to have a chat with them. See how that goes before you do anything else.

Never been any different to how it is now in my experience.

You’ve never though as a cyclist you belonged to a community ? I always felt I did. I do still to a certain excetent, certainly road riding with the whole club thing. Perhaps with so many new people coming into cycling it was bound to happen.

A tiny symptom is the waving to fellow riders thing. Not that many years ago it was unusual for it not to happen. Now its the exception not the rule. I sometimes think I’m the only one who still does.

Mountain bikers are not a community

I have to agree, not anymore which is a shame. We used to be once upon a time but now it’s just people doing their own thing. Personally I think the worlds a little bit worse for it 🙁

Although I believe the death penalty represents justice in some instances. The chance of miscarriages of justice and the brutalising effect it has on a society make it a no for me.

Your a saint OP. I’ve never had a note left on my car nor do I know anyone who has. And I’ll be honest I wouldn’t leave one either. I’m not going to be honest with so little chance of reciprication. That’s how it is I’m afraid.

I’ve got 3 mx bikes of varying ages. Their not road legal so have to be started up occasionally in my back garden ( warming the oil up before changing ect.). I am conscious of the noise so try to keep it to a minimum.

But at the end of the day a bit of tolerance works for everyone. A few of my neighbours do things that irritate me, but thats just life, like my motorbikes.

I am just pointing out how ridiculous it is to throw words like slander around when you clearly have no idea what they mean

I have a clear understanding of their meaning.

But enough’s enough at some point. Your entitled to an opinion like everybody. But you just keep on and on with the same opinion over and over again despite not having any evidence to back up your assertions.  So I called you out on this one.  At what point will you just give it a rest.

    P.s

Sorry if my comments came across as personal. I read many of your posts with interest, just not on this topic.

to call ~Froome out for cheating is not as its fair comment.

Explain how he cheated under the rules as they exist ??

And go on sue me for libel. Your comment just shows what a ridicules little man you actually are.

This is key for me: “It’s now about having full access to the reasoned decision as it’s hard to comment without it.

I wish everyone just wouldn’t comment. The whole process should have been confidential, and with the outcome we wouldn’t have known anything and neither should we have.

The likes of TJ saying they want access to all the evidence so they can make their minds up is laughable !!

I’ll call you out on this TJ you slandered a man on a public forum based on your own petty prejudices not fact. You aren’t capable of having a fair balanced opinion on this.
