Isn’t country of origin labelling an EU rule? I’m sure we won’t need such red tape in our New Utopia.

exactly – nor will GM foods need to be labeled

My guess is the legislation will be cut and pasted from EU into British legislation. Just like 99% of the rest. You guys just keep on looking at worst case scenarios with out any evidence thats what in fact will happen.

Just tell them the price and if they don’t like it go elsewhere if they can find it cheaper.
I will add that I have no sales training, ran a buisness successful or otherwise, and my approach might (probably) end in disaster. But I just hate time wasting chancers who want something for nothing.

Public transport for an individual can be cheap, providing it goes where you want when you want to go there. But if you need a car for some journey’s it becomes cost effective to use it for most. My last train ride was one way to pick up a ebay camper van purchase. It took 5.5 hrs and 4 changes, cost £89. Imagine that was with my family visiting relatives or something £356 !!! Coming back took just over 3hrs and £30 of diesel.

, but repeating those same views, time and time again, without any empathy for those that find it offensive, and being asked politely to stop, either genuinely lack social skills to recognise the hurt they are delivering or they are simple a bully.

But they have. GT generally starts a thread himself to put his views across, for the most part I read it, more often than not agree with parts, but certainly not everything then move on to a wheel size thread or something. But others don’t, they embark on a campaign to shout him down. Some use reasoned arguments others just throw insults at him, he doggedly plugs away constantly repeated his beliefs. I don’t get the sense his repetition is to offend or bully just a means of defending himself and his views. None of which are really that extreme just out of step with prevailing views on here.
Banning him for coming on this thread and defending himself when named by the OP is very much a low for STW.

Still don’t understand why the OP doesn’t try the spring to see if its the right one, whats to loose ? If it’s the right one the problem instantly goes away!!

It’s the different activity thing. You wouldn’t want all the running segments showing up on a ride. Fair enough I say, it’s easy enough to replicate the cycling segments into equivalent ebike segments if you want to compare times, on a descent for instance. Comparing climbing between normal bicycles and those with engines is pointless and those clogging the normal leaderboards with e-bike rides are just selfish tools IMHO.

Times change I know, so this isn’t going to be a “back in my day” post. Well not much 😉. At 9 I wouldn’t dream of riding with my father, it was on my own or with friends of a similar age. As you obviously like riding together as a family which is cool and I doubt you’ll just kick him out of the house to do his own thing. But is there somewhere you can let him of the leash for a bit so he can ride at his own pace for a while. I get bored riding with others if there to slow, it must be maddening for a youngster full of pent up energy.

There is no one right answer. Every situation is different. Be very sure that whatever you decide it’s a decision that you take for the right reasons and that you are content with it

Totally agree with Tj. Go with your instinct not the opinions off here. Thinking back to my parents they would have been very upset if I’d cancelled such a hard earned holiday because they might or might not have died whilst I was away.

I feer her parents have been measured in their response. Condemning her actions and words but maintaining she should be allowed to come home, what parents would do anything else.

If it can ‘clearly easily work’ you can provide us with some kind of fact based evidence; sometimes referred to as ‘proof’.

In 2008 Defra produced a report on the very matter.

“Crude calculations suggest that UK agricultural land could provide more than enough  food from arable production in terms of our daily calorific requirements, in theory making the UK self-sufficient”. (DEFRA report para 4.14).

So we could feed ourselves after a fashion, but we didn’t have to then and we won’t have to in the future. Prices might rise, they could well be shortages in the short term. But if we want to buy others will want to sell.
And I agree with Kerley, this is a cycling forum, people are just batting ideas around, we’re not a goverment department implementing policy.

My ambition frequently outweighs my talent

This so much 😳 list of my injuries mix of mtb, road, cyclocross and motocross.
    9 collarbone fractures.
Rotor cuff injuries to both shoulders.
    Compression fracture of vertebrae.
    Acl injury requiring reconstruction surgery.
    3 broken fingers.
    Broken thumb.
    2 scathoid fractures.
    Ankle fracture requiring surgery.
    2 sternum fractures.
    At least 10 rib fractures.
    2 concusions.
Damage to blood vessels in leg requiring surgery.
    Lost 2 big toe nails.
Probably a thousand cuts and bruises of note.
Mtb or any active sport is reasonably safe if you stay within your comfort zone. That great if you enjoy yourself there, but historically at least I’ve always pushed untill I crash. Coming up to 60 now and have promised Mrs taxi to calm right down, I’m trying and hopefully its a promise I wont break but………..

Why not? Is’s easy enough to say “due to the intransiance of the EU we’re cancelling A50, while we investigate all other brexit options, before…blahblahblah”

Id like to think this would happen if a deal can’t get through parliment. But Mays going to hang everything on one final my deal or no deal vote. Some remainers will hope if her deal fails, as above she’ll bin A50 rather than go no deal. It’s a dangerous gamble which I don’t think will pay of. May’s totally convinced brexit has to be delivered without freedom of movement (will of the people). Unless enough MP’s realise that were going no deal March 30th.

When all else fails launch a personal attack based on wild speculation.

Expressing concern for someone isn’t a personal attack. Are you attacking someone for sympathizing someone’s cold/flue symptoms. Wellness or lack of is noticeable on the internet, I wish you well.

My positive attitude is that we will return to the EU, and I will do whatever it takes to make it happen. But first, there will be a lot of cleaning to be done before our house is in order.

Not very far from my thinking.

You posted that a couple of weeks ago, and I told you then my opinion developed and I changed my mind. How many times do I have to tell you the same thing. Honestly Edukator your one of the people who I’m concerned about.

So why the **** did you vote Brexit?

You’ve said this before and I’ve said before that I voted remain. Any temptations I had of voting leave ended when I realised it would be a negative thing for the country. But leave won. Anything I post now are just my thoughts about how I and perhaps others can deal with the realities of the situation.
I don’t do running around saying the sky’s falling. I try to remain positive for the sake of my family and myself, because I’ve found that works even if it’s just to mentally accept something.
I hope for most this thread is a way of letting of steam, get it of your chest and then get on with things. But I do have real concerns (as much as you can for strangers on the internet) for some posters 🙁

So tell us what to be cheerful about then, go on what makes you happy about the situation?

I don’t think the poster is happy about the situation. But having a purely negative attitude will make you unhappy. Putting a positive spin on a difficult situation is a good way of maintaining your mental health. Allways looking on the bright side of life if you can’t personally change the bad side is an effective survival tactic.

, help make a bad situation better or just sod off.

And then quip, “and that’s exactly what business leaders are doing, taking the second option when possible”.

Perhaps they are, but most don’t have that option, we’ll still be here.

Perhaps “get behind” was asking for a bit much, but when we do leave (we almost certainly will) what are you all going to do ? Life will have to go on, are you going to remain bitter and complaining all your lives ? I won’t, I’ll be doing my best for myself and my family and by doing so that helps others as well. Sod off isn’t a call for you to physically leave, but to just shut up moaning if you aren’t going to do anything constructive to help the situation.

This thread is all the proof anyone needs to see of the nasty and bitter sorts that Remain attract

    Excuse me?

But it does it truly does. Since the referendum result thats all this thread has been, angry and bitter.
Moomman can’t give a chapter and verse explanation about the positives of brexit because there aren’t many. But anyone who sticks their head up and opinions that the result of the referendum should be honoured, or that armageddon isn’t about to happen is insulted and shouted down. The contempt for people of “message” positively drips of some peoples posts.
Out in the real world the majority just want some sort of stability and accept that brexit will happen. But on here and on some other social media outlets there’s a constant bitter hatred, it will do nothing to help but will actively poison and harm individuals and the country as a whole. There comes a time when enoughs a enough, help make a bad situation better or just sod off.

Hang on a bit and karcher are releasing a battery powered power washer. Similar to the worx but better ect, ect. I’ve a friend who’s a sales manager for karcher and I tried one of only two in the country. It’ll be priced at about £200 but is a great piece of kit.

As per poly (stealth edit!) May just be me but not sure I’d want to cross uk border or any vaguely hard frontier with somebody in my car when I had no idea who they were or what they were carrying.

Where’s your sense of adventure 😀
In any case the drugs would be on the passenger or their luggage. You’d be strangers with a trail back to blablacar. Getting pulled would be an inconvenience but you wouldn’t be going to jail. Probably 😉

Rider just helps towards costs, no profit so no hire or reward.

When you travel with BlaBlaCar as a driver, passengers contribute towards your running costs. No profits are made which is why BlaBlaCar drivers’ insurance policies are not affected.

What relevance does that have to the issue of CHILDREN protesting about the destruction of their futures?

It’s good they care, but it won’t make any difference. In a few years the vast majority will be doing like most other people “ruining” the future for their children. Climate change is driven by population growth 7.5B and rising. If the kids are prepared to commit themselves to limited travel, massive cutbacks in consumerism, hugely authoritarian rules regarding population growth and their lifestyle maybe it’ll make a small difference. But mostly the won’t they’ll just carry on as people always have.

Some people just don’t know the value of money ! I do like to protect my investments .

    Investment.
“the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.”

Love it when people describe their Mtb as an investment 😂😂
Investment in fun maybe, but if a couple of paint chips spoils your fun thats pretty sad 🙁🙁
