… and thinking about it, if we do apply for an extension, it’ll be for another referendum.

Or a new no redline deal, part of the customs union with freedom of movement ?

This seems to be the crucial change, an arbitration panel whose findings must be adhered to. I think 🤔

Under the dispute settlement mechanism, a ruling by the arbitration panel that a party acts
with the objective of applying the Protocol indefinitely would be binding on the Union and the
United Kingdom. Persistent failure by a party to comply with a ruling, and thus persistent
failure by that party to return to compliance with its obligations under the Withdrawal
Agreement, may result in temporary remedies. Ultimately, the aggrieved party would have the
right to enact a unilateral, proportionate suspension of its obligations under the Withdrawal
Agreement (other than Part Two), including the Protocol. Such a suspension may remain in
place unless and until the offending party has taken the necessary measures to comply with
the ruling of the arbitration panel.

Maybe that’s what would happen cougar, but perhaps not. Sometimes the most obvious straight forward solution is what works. It’s not instant death for westerners to enter these camps as evidenced by aid workers and journalists.
Personally I’ve had a fantastic fulfilling life, but I wouldn’t hesitate to risk it to try and give my grandchild the chance of doing the same. Wouldn’t you ??

Or send someone in a Taxi?

If it had been a family member of mine that’s exactly what I’d have done. Turn up in a taxi, pockets full of cash for bribes there’s a good chance you’d have got the baby out at least.

Reminds me of Hague and his 14 pints claim

I remember it as well. He was much derided but was probably telling the truth. He worked on a brewery dray and back in those days you got a pint at every drop off, easily 7-8 pints. If you went out later with practise another 6-7 pints wouldn’t be a problem.

I think if you drink to the point of getting a hangover the next day then that’s too much.

This works up to the point you stop getting hangovers, something that again only needs a bit of practise.

One of my neighbours knocked on my door late at night once. Wanted to borrow sone duct tape. Turned out he liked to tape his boyfriend to the kitchen table then…………………. I didn’t feel the need to follow to see what they were up to.
Never did get my tape back and it was nearly a full roll 🙁🙁

Piqued my interest so I jumps in pickup and followed the car to where it’s parked up round the corner centre of the lane with smoke coming out the windows

You honestly followed her !!!!! Thats the only weird thing about this scenario.

And, he alone had control of a plane and chose to commit to aerobatics over the land and ultimately failed to control the vehicle he was piloting.

All within the context of an airshow where there is an expectation that there will be some “risky” flying, with the intention to entertain . You can’t compare that to someone purely flying or driving from A to B intending to arrive safely. The pilot made a mistake or more likely an accumulation of errors only some of which he was responsible for.
Court found him not guilty so he’s not, at least not what he was charged with.

In ironic news, Birmingham city centre is apparantly logjammed as I type by taxi drivers protesting about the proposed congestion charges.

Taxis are public transport last time I checked. Working mostly days non car owners are my biggest customer group.

There’s a vocal minority on here who would probably describe themselves as liberals, yet whose viewpoints are the exact opposite of what the word liberal really means. They make the assumption that people are stupid and need to be constantly told what to do and that they know best. It’s a bit worrying really, as this is what political tyranny feeds off.

Pretty fair evaluation IMHO. Pop over to the Brexit thread JP, you’ll get a warm welcome over there 😉

In case any of those MP’s want to actually ask people what they think it’s not going to do **** all to unite people especially all those who are impacted by any kind of brexit.

I’m sure Hilary Benn and Mp’s like him have spoken to just those people, and all the others. Including the nearly 50% of Leeds voters who voted to leave. He doesn’t have the luxury that forum members have to say “so what”. He has to try and put forward ideas to unite people as best he can. Whilst still representing all of his constituents. Caught between a rock and a hard place to put it mildly, I dont envy any of them.

Are the hour gaps just the times between your train arriving in one terminus and departing the other? They give you loads of time to get across town if you’re on fixed train tickets.

Sorry if someone’s answered this, but yes your right that’s how it works.

Not to mention if it was mandatory it would have bene declared void by the courts

All of which became irrelevant when parliment voted to invoke A50.

You’d normally get £44,000 for the loss of a leg above the knee. Considerably less for a gun shot wound you completely recovered from.
But if the scrappy in question was just throwing his payment around it might appear that he’s come into more money than he actually has.

Time to ignore him from now on.

Your free to ignore whoever you choose to Kelvin. But if you live in an echo chamber you’ll be a worse person for it.
But if based on an occasional posting history of mild scepticism regarding the most doom laden brexit prophesies you get this.

I find it an insult to the intellignece of other STW members when you manipulate what they say.

What can you do other than laugh. 😂😂

    P.s

You might be hard of reading and understanding Taxi25, but don’t assume other people are.

Easy Tiger, surely there must be some actual brexeters you can engage with to insult. But on here I suppose I’m as close as you can get,(a remainer, just not someone who’s all mardy about it) but hey ho carry on, I’m a big boy and if I’ve got something to say on this thread I’ll carry on and say it.

Does this mean hitting my thumb with a hammer is a good thing?

I’d never say it was. But worrying about hitting your thumb with a sledge hammer when you’re using a claw hammer is pretty pointless.

and gets annoyed when called out for posting incorrect or misleading information

Relative to my post earlier, what was incorrect or misleading ? I just pasted stuff from the eurotunnel web site, which stated there wasn’t current delays but had been due to industrial action. It appears this action (based on Educators link, which I can’t read) took the form of implementing post brexit procedures.
I don’t feel procedures implemented as a part of industrial action accurately reflect how things will be.
@ dannyh and Edukator, most people don’t see everything as completely black or white, good or bad things are normally just grey.

you do seem quite strident in your desire to conduct pro-Leave psyops.

Show me were I’ve posted anything “pro” leave ? I don’t belive there are any. But I also don’t belive the project fear obsesion on on here is a healthy place to be. All I try to do is put a slighty more optimistis side to a poor situation.

I don’t know where you get your news, Taxi, but it’s leave propaganda lying by omission..

    So aggressive again Edukator !!
You posted 8 hour delays, my information comes from the eurotunnel passenger information website. The point of you posting was to imply post brexit 8hour delays will be the norm. And you accuse me of spreading propaganda 😂

Europe 1 announced 8-hour queues at ports this morning as French customs apply post-Brexit style checks, and that without any post-Brexit paperwork to deal with.

Really !! Conditions described as fluid. Industrial action caused freight delays earlier, but nothing new there.

    French customs’ Industrial action

Due to a social movement by the French customs, lorries congestion on the A16 both ways. Please follow the diversion in place. We are running a full service and doing everything possible for customers once French controls cleared.Take care

, so I’ll spend another year with a bathroom I am slowly starting to loathe.

How do you loathe a bathroom ? I’m sat in mine at the moment. Its a total shambles but everything works, I come in to use the toilet and get clean, that’s all I want or need from it.
I’m hugely in the have fun camp 😁😁

we won’t be able to export food to the EU, the loss of a huge market for us.
The US will flood our market with substandard food and put our domestic farmers out of business.

Obviously this is the most likely scenario.

also as previously mentioned it will be the death bell for the NHS too.

This as well. We might as well all give up then 🙄

The people pushing the agenda want deregulation and pure market capitalism. That basically means less rules and regulation for business, less workers rights and less quality control on imports.

True there are some pushing that agenda, but their not in the ascendancy IMHO.Even May is a remainer at heart and so is the majority of parliament, my optimist hat stays on for the time being.

The US have made it clear this is the price for a trade deal

Which we’ve agreed to ? I must have missed the signing ceremony.

    taxi25

Yep the us confectioners don’t want to have to label gm or food coloring.

But if British law requires them to they’ll have to do. At least if they want to export to the UK. Why do you think that can’t happen ? Parliment is and will be mostly remain regardless of whether or how we leave. If there’s a need for food labelling thats what we’ll get.
