But like the drug trade, people don’t tend to engage in criminality if they have a decent standard of living. More so if alternatives, eg tourism provide better alternatives.

This would be true to a certain extent, but some people want far more than any normal even well paid job could provide.

“On the black market in South Africa, the horn of the white rhino sells for up to $3,000 a pound, according to Groenewald, but on Asian black markets it wholesales for five to 10 times that, and retail prices can go up ”

A Rhino horn can weigh 4lbs $12,000 per horn is a huge incentive, especially in Africa where average wages are a fraction of what they are in the West. My guess is as long as the demand exists there’ll always be poachers regardless of local economic conditions.

So if I was going to come back as one of those living the shitty lives then probably best not to be reincarnated only to live a horrendous life and ultimately die in an unpleasant way.

But still people who live under the worst of circumstances generally prefer life to death.
Regarding the op’s question if tou had no knowledge of your previous life wanting another one is irrelevant. But life is continuous anyway, perhaps a better question would be “would you like someone else to have the chance at the kind of life you’ve had”. For me I’d say yes.

I wouldn’t wish a horrible death on anyone, poacher or not. I’d wish he’d seen the error of his ways and given up on the terrible buisness, howether unlikely that would be. But his death was purely a result of his own misadventure, not something I’ll loose sleep over.

That’s not a piss take BTW.
He really is good fun to ride with and was a great host in showing us some really good trails.

It would be unusual for someone’s online persona to actually match how they are in person. But this is online, and all most of us will ever have to go on regarding geex. So its……….

Locksmith, perhaps there’s a universal remote type thing they have access to ? It’s definitely worth a couple of phone calls.

Basically because she is tired, a bit cavalier

These things should be addressed. I’m not sure I’d be supportive of my wife driving if she had these issues and wasn’t trying to get them sorted. I know that’s easier to say than to do, but you could end up seeing her dead or some other innocent party.

But. Would they have that freedom at all if we didn’t? Would their carcasses instead line our floors with heads hanging on stately walls? Unless we can eat or use them they soon face extinction.

About 20,000 race horses in the UK. How many of those would be killed if horseracing was banned ? Vastly more than the sad but thankfully small number killed whilst racing.

15% off doesn’t seem enough of a saving to me. Probably totally fine but I’d go for new at that price. 30% off would be tempting.

yep they closed the gap to 15 with through and off then started playing silly buggers

It’s a tough one, with a strong rider out front and a chasing group full of individuals who’s going guarantee blowing any chance by leading the chase 🤔🤔

I can confidently say I am better at every single fascette of actually riding a mtb than you.

and could be a pompous **** even then

And you can be a pompous **** now. At least he was a great writer and a genuine adventurer, you ?????
Personally I’ll never have a E-mtb, the physical challenge is why I ride. Maybe way in the future a E-hybrid to get me out on sustrains routes, just to get out in the fresh air before I finally shuffle off.

Errr, just to correct you (as I can’t help it), it won’t be air that they struggle to hold.

Of course, back to school for me. 😳😳

There is a reason people say pick up only on bikes – to avoid getting embroiled in this kind of thing.

If I say pick up only I stick to that, regardless of how much a potential buyer begs and pleads. For a shop to pac the bike up for £15 !!! I bet they’ll never do that again.
But personally I’d suck it up and get riding. If the forks hold air I wouldn’t even bother with a fix. Ride them for a bit and see how they go 👍

Deliveroo will probably claim he is a self employed contractor so not their responsibility.

Well they aren’t responsible for his actions, but they will assist the police in identifying him, and will conduct their own investigation if the police don’t contact them. Keep in touch with them, they do take this sort of thing seriously.

Thought about doing it, but in the end after looking at the route decided to just do the Gap ride from Pant with my mate. All the best bits, cutting out much of the filler. We got to include the full Brinore Tramroad climb which was missing from the Evans ride. Saw loads of you guys and girls doing the event, and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic day in glorious weather 😎😎

It’s really sad how many selfish ****holes there are on here, and worrying that a good percentage are parents. I feel sorry for your kids.

Rubbish post of the week, do you give up everything to indulge you children in their hobby ? If you do your sense of values is seriously astray. Kids have their whole lifetime ahead of them. They can indulge themselves if and when they can afford it. Buying things for them you can’t afford only risks making them spoilt and entitled.

24 months x £250 = £6,000. That’s on a par with what you could expect to pay if your daughter was doing something like dancing and ice skating.

That’s just livery, then it’s vets fees, tack clothing and yes transporting the thing. It’s not an ornament to look at, you take them places to ride gymkhanas etc which also cost money. Literally the expense is endless. We all want to give our children things they want, but not at the expense of everything else and financial stability.
If you can’t comfortably afford the horse it has to go, anything else is just spoilt indulgence 🙁

Unless and until ‘loving’ is also in that list, you can’t go back.

Definitely, do you still love your wife and do you believe she still loves you. ? If your not 100% sure be very careful about moving back in.
Mrs taxi and myself had some very rough times largely due to her depression. She’d say “why don’t you just leave”. I’d say “I don’t want to because I love you, but if you say go because I don’t love you anymore I will” she never did, was able to get her depression under control and we’ve been happy for many years. But if either of us had felt the love had gone it would have finnished there and then.

No its a council contract. Its 4 girls two in wheelchairs. £35 is what I get payed then there’s Miss taxi who’s doing the escort untill she decides what to do with herself 🙄. Then the contractor who owns the vehicle, it probably costs the council nearly £500 a week !!! Incredibly all the parents have the means to get the children to school themselves. They apply for school transport because they can.
For you MG if your kids were picked up of the book by the closest driver at the time, you’d expect to pay more or less the actual fare which is obviously a distance time thing.
Getting a regular driver is the expensive bit because your paying for his down time as well as the journey.

Tbf City and rural options are a little different though. In my area there are only 3 people / firms covering a very large rural area in private hire rather than taxi format.

This is very much the case, 1,700 taxi’s in Cardiff including private hire and hackney.
If MG wanted a regular driver he’d have to pay far more than the normal fare. For an individual to guarantee a pick up at a set time they can’t take a job for probably 40-45 mins before hand. Even a simple one pickup job would be 2hrs of my time.
My current school run pays £35 a day and thats not using my own vehicle so I’m not paying deisel ect.

If it’s a good firm they’d send around the driver/s at a convenient time to meet the kid/s and discuss the arrangement with you. If they wont do this, don’t use them.

Your in Cardiff MG. I’ve never heard of this being done for private bookings. The call will generally go on to the circuit so any one of dozens of drivers could pick up the job on a daily basis, having a regular driver is normally only for council school runs.
But the arrangement your looking for is quite normal, speak to the school and find out their policies regarding private taxi drop offs and pickups. Then phone around the taxi companies. Every driver who might pick your kids up will be licenced, DBS checked ect.

That sounds to me like it’s completely against the sprit of the ride.

There is no spirit of the ride. Rob has already said he’ll push some bits to save power, pedal only other parts. It’s like me saying I’m going to drive to Spain without refuelling, only I’ll run out so will be towed part of the way.
We know Rob could cycle the whole thing, and have a full battery at the end so I fail to see any “interest” in the ride, any more than people would be interested in my ride last night. ( it was great by the way 😁)

Why would giving a date of birth be a problem ? Every job application I’ve ever filled in has asked it.

Pretending your in a race when doing a sportive ? Had a few good age related results. That aside Cyclocross and mtb xc. I didn’t start riding properly untill my late 30’s so everything is age related. Never riden a proper downhill bike, a bit to close to MX which I’ve done on and off so not bothered with it.

I assumed it was alloy but steel, that raised my eyebrows and I’m the least fussy person out there. Still if you can’t get another one elsewhere for the same price, try and leverage a bit more of wiggle and break out the touch up.
I’d imagine someone in the supply chaim needed to record the frame number, it was obscured and this was their bright idea.
    P.s
Suns out you cant see the BB when your riding 😎😎

Really? It seems to me that you and others are stamping on someone who dares to articulate an alternative point of view. It’s the kind of intolerance that got us into this mess.

Plus 100. In any case this is my last post on this thread. I’ve stated my feelings enough, saying anymore will be pointless, so it’s time to butt out and leave you to it, Enjoy.

Got loads of stuff but seldom wear it, but occasionally I go full bling, gold neck chain, bracelets, rings ect, ect. Always have a watch on and a 18ct gold nipple ring with a nice diamond in it. Keep that in because Mrs taxi bought it and its to much trouble to take on and off.

I believe what I actually said was “I don’t think I believe you”

If this is said about a persons statement, what is it other than saying “I don’t belive your telling the truth” I.E. lying !! I’ve been repeatedly told by some posters that they don’t belive I voted remain, just because I don’t conform do their ideal of a remain voter.

Less than about 18 000 000 signatures from people entitled to vote and it proves nothing to me.

100% nearly 14mil have already signed an earlier petition which said as much.

If you’re proud of being a carnivore, I suggest you take a visit to your local abattoir on killing day and listen to the distress of the animals as they approach the business end. They give every indication of knowing what’s about to happen. (Try not make mental comparisons to Auschwitz)

Vegans coming out with this sort of stuff is why some people have a problem with them.
    Edit.
I do note you say your not a vegan.
