Without that the car would spin, which would be more dangerous than what Vettel did.

Indeed, if he’d spun and centre punched Hamilton with the rear of his car we wouldn’t be talking penalties only that S%&# happens, pity but thats racing.

Double rolly is for your implication that beating normal riders uphill on a E-bike is worthwhile as of itself. Obviously riding an E-bike uphill or anywhere can be enjoyable.
Should have quoted the other part of your post.

other than hurting Stravaists fragile Ego’s.

That’s just an added bonus 😂👍

Judging by the poll & this thread I think it’s safe to say that the ‘etiquette’ isn’t very well understod. I conclude from this there isn’t actually an etiquette.

Totally agree, people just work things out if left alone, who needs rules for playing in the woods, well mostly. Can’t honestly remember if I’ve ever had a problem with oncoming riders up or down. Everyone seems pretty keen not to crash into each other, I’d leave it at that.

It must have been a while ago you did your NLC DB. But whatever the law pubs can refuse to serve whoever they want.

16 yr olds can certainly go into a pub unaccompanied for food. They can also drink alcohol with it but can’t buy it themselves, they’d need an adult to get the round in 👍

F knows what some archaic driving rules have to do with it tbh.

Your right they don’t. Only rule is don’t be a dick. Going down be aware that some people might be coming up, going up watch out for people coming down. In practice it works fine, it’s only ever an argument on the internet !!

From comments above it seems ebikers get some satisfaction out of this, which is weird as it’s not the rider doing most of that work it’s a motor, so where does the sense of achievement come from

Same as people get from riding downhill I guess.

Obviously we all know riding a motorized bicycle up a hill has the same challenge as nailing that steep technical descent at speed 🙄🙄

as his defence said, his natural momentum took him across the full width of the circuit. But in that case he is guilty of rejoining the circuit in an unsafe manner, as he was not in full control of his car, to the extent that he ran Hamilton off the road in an unsafe manner.

But this is the very description of a “racing incident”. No way could he brake on the grass, and his momentum took him back onto the track and impeded Hamilton’s ill judged attempt to overtake on the outside where it was obvious Vettel would end up. This is my opinion obviously and it doesn’t count for squat, same as anyone’s apart from the race stewards on the day.

If you can roll along almost effortlessly at 18mph solo for 50+ miles your in the top percentile of recreation cyclists. Don’t sweat it just enjoy your riding.
Another thing stop following cyclists quicker than yourself, I’ve dumped everyone quicker than myself and feel much better for it 😉

What else could Vettel have done?

Not driven so fast that he couldn’t take the corner.

Probably best he just gets the ford focus out for his Sunday drive in the country then 👍

Vettel’s rejoined the track as best he could, I’m no fan of his but I’m not sure what else he could have done under the circumstances, his car was bound to slide to the right a bit. Very harsh descion IMHO.

It’s not bad, if you haven’t really watched top level Women’s football before it comes as a surprise how good they are. You don’t get the depth of talent there is in the men’s game and the difference in speed an athleticism is noticeable, but definitely worth a watch is you like football.

I appreciate it could be a problem if the bikes had to be brought inside and plugged in. But if it was just the battery you’ve missed a trick OP. 25p for 6hrs, even if they were there for 2hrs thats only 8p.
Having said that it’s still a bit cheeky to assume you can just rock up and charge anything for free. But as was their choice your potential customers voted with their feet 🙁

Employers loan bicycles to their staff as a tax-free benefit on the condition that the bicycles are mainly used to get to and from work or for work-related purposes.

Total scam, e-bikes aside who’s going to use their £3000 bike as described above (tiny minority). If I wanted a commuter it wouldn’t cost anything like a £1000 let alone more.

6ft here and hate the 18″ to 20″ jump 🙁 allways think a 19″ would be perfect. If it’s just riding around maybe the 20″, more technical riding the 18″ might be better. Definitely try and sit on both if you can.

Second Bryn Meadows, it would be perfect for what you describe 👍
P.s you can even ride more or less fully offroad to Cwmcarn from it.

The Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP’s legal team argued that the offence of misconduct in public office was about the secret abuse of power and there was nothing secret about Mr Johnson’s claim, which they said had been challenged during the campaign.

Which seems about right to me. Total waste of time and money.

you could comfortably pedal 38-11 until >35mph.

pedal it yes, comfortably..? Not so much. If the OP’s dad is topping out at 18mph I would guess he’s not going to be comfortable knocking out 120+rpm for a sustained period

Amazing that someone reckons a 130 cadence for a 70 yr old, (because thats what it is) is “comfortable”. I spin my 50-11 out under 40mph. So probably can’t get over 110. Everybody is different !!!!

Wow if you genuinely care about a KOM on strava that’s pretty damn sad,

The only thing sad is not having empathy for other people’s enjoyment . To the OP flag them and put a polite message on their ride. It’ll work with some but not others. Judging by some replies on here from the e-mtb fanboys, my assumption that E-mtb’s are attractive to the selfish me me generation who don’t give f@#$% avout anyone else is correct.

Agree with the mince thing, I’d probably eat about 150-75g in a portion. Just weighed one of my normal chicken breasts and that was 225g, I’ll easily eat a whole one of those even made into a curry. Then there’s often meat sandwich fillers for lunch and a weekend cooked breakfast. Normally probably not loads over the average but a bit.

Half a pound a day, day in/day out, is a lot.

It really isn’t, not if you eat meat more or less in every main meal. I probably eat above the average but have never actually worked out the exact amount.

Provided that a phone can be operated without holding it, then hands-free equipment is not prohibited by this legislation. Therefore, the use of a phone as a sat nav is lawful providing you don’t have to hold it.

Indeed, I hope everyone has read timba’s link ? If you do all your questions will be answered.

Getting back to the Op’s original post. I’m never going to climb Everest ever, it was never going to happen. I’m not a mountaineer, no way could I afford it, perhaps at some point in my life I could have physically rose to the challenge but that’s gone now. But still there was that nagging “what if” going on in my mind. A part of me wanted to at least imagine doing so, just a low level itch that wouldn’t go away.
But now it has, that photo has killed any fantasy desire I ever had, it’s one less thing that’ll bother me because I’ve never done it. Chapeau OP 🥂

Do you make it 10mph for some sections and 20 for others, like on the roads or do you put a blanket 15mph limit on all bridleways?

Or just ban E-mtb’s from bridleways all together ? I know some people would flout the law just like they flout just every other one, but it would be a start. I’d let e-bikes on the road evolve with a bit more power to make them a usefull transport alternative.

big rock I could barely lift dropped a couple of times from chest height on the poor thing’s head. It was not a pretty sight. The 2nd drop was not really needed but didn’t really want to worry I’d not definately dispatched it quickly in the future.

Remind me not to go for a ride with convert. Lying on the ground writhing in pain is something I do a fair bit of 😬😬

Are you running tubless ? If so to much tape can make a tight tyre almost impossible to fit. If so take a layer of and try again. If your using tubes perhaps your rim tape is on the thick side. Try one layer of stans tape or similar and try that. If you try this and still fail send Geex a message he’ll come round and fit it one handed standing in a hammock 😎😎

So you’d happily drive at the speed limit with some joker an inch from your bumper? Sounds safe.

It isn’t safe. The primary objective of any journey is to arrive safely at your destination, this is something I do day in day out. I’ll tell you what to do if you’ve got a persistent tailgater you pull over when it’s safe and let them past. Sod your ego their a tosser not you, just get home in one piece.

3 I can’t believe some people are still justifying the £350 million figure as anything remotely real. This country is truly doomed.

I don’t think anybody is. Only that the figure exists in relation to our EU contribution. And that lawyers will use that fact in defence.

This was an accident, hard to avoid, but you should have checked it out.

I’ve run over 2 both killed outright . Stopped both times cat 1 I found its owner and gave them the poor thing. Cat 2 I couldn’t but took it to my local vet who scanned it for a chip, there wasn’t one but nicely offered to dispose of it for £40 !! I declined and buried it in the kids pet cemetery in our back garden. I know to some cats are seen as a disposable item but they are often much loved family pets and deserve a bit of consideration.

Yes it’s spliting hairs but I really really hope the legal arguments have more to them than that.

Legal arguments are often all about splitting hairs. The first line on the bus is arguably true (pre rebate) If they’d put £250 mil it would have been better but either would serve the purpose. The second line is exactly what it says. The case is a political stunt and will go nowhere.

Bronze and Silver for me, I left school after first year in the 6th form so didn’t complete my gold. It never occurred to me that it was something you could put on a CV 🤔 All I know was doing it was the best time I ever had in school 😁😁. It’ll be a sad day if the scheme ever folds, as far as being inclusive, it’s available to anyone who cam be arsed to do it. Yes there is a cost but help is available for this.

It was testing popular opinion… it was not asking to ratify anything concrete.

This nonsense over and over again. The referendum was presented to the British people as their chance to decide EU in or out. The advisory thing is just remainers clutching at straws, it was never mentioned in any shape or form to the public untill after the result. In case you missed it this is from the front page of the leaflet that went through every door in the UK.

    P.s
I’m fully aware of the “legal” status of the referendum.
