Just not sure what point you’re trying to make about what other people wear.

The point being made is, if the people weren’t riding e-bikes they’d be working hard enough to keep warm without the need of thick layers of clothing.

Even by your own standards geex that last post was an outstanding load of self justifying patronising drivel.
    I salute you 👏👏👏

Normally I vote Conservative, but not with Boris as leader, his chance was when Cameron left but he bottled it, then did nothing but undermine May who was useless but actually tried to do something.
I do feel a bit for him regarding this whole police thing. Quote from another neighbour which makes his choice of partner (judgment issues again) seem perhaps unfortunate.

Fatimah, 32, said: “It was really loud, loud enough to make me turn down the TV and see what was going on. I could hear shouting and screaming from a lady, she sounded really angry. There was a man’s voice too, but he was much calmer and he was telling her to calm down but she was still chucking things about,” she told the Times.

No idea why military planes were deployed. But its not really a waste of money. Piolts have to log X amount if hours so if they weren’t doing this they’d be doing something else. Overall the planes will be up in the air for the same amount of time.

The decent thing would have been to tell them as soon as you changed your mind.

Nope, the decent thing to do is pay for the item.

Your slower because you probably aren’t putting the same amount of effort into the rides.
I’ve done according to strava a local climb 191 times. I always put a bit of effort into it, and normaly it takes me 6.30-7.30 mins. All those times feel more or less the same, the difference is trail conditions, how I’m feeling and what bike I’m on. But every now and again i feel like giving it 100%, and I mean 100% everything I’ve got. Those times are under 5 mins with the best being 4.29. So unless you ride the same climbs with the same fitness giving 110% your going to get a huge variance in your climbing times. A lighter bike with faster rolling tyres will on average be quicker, if it’s not thats just down to you.

There was a time I probably would have lusted after one, but nowadays I go out more for the pedal up the hills than the ride back down.

I’m nearly at that point as well. Nearly 60 and I’m finding it harder to go fast on narrow downhill singletrack, my eyes seem to loose focuse and my balance starts to go. The faster and more bumby things are the worse it gets. My fitness is still good so attacking climbs and taking things a bit easier descending makes sense for me at the moment.
E-biking up the hills would remove that challenge and enjoyment.

it was by any measure a disproportionate response. He could’ve simply stood up to stop her passing. That wasn’t the reaction of someone trying to block someone else’s passage, it was the reaction of someone who was angry.

I agree with you, and have said I believe he acted in anger. Doesn’t mean the law will will feel he’s committed a crime though. Not if he persists with the threat defence.
I’m sure we’ll find out sooner or later though.

Take politics out and it’s a large person assaulting a small person. There are laws about that sort of situation.

There is indeed, and some people are just putting their opinion over about how the law might look at this particular case. I’m trying to do that without any political bias which is far more than can be said of some other posters.

She wasn’t a threat as perceived by everyone else she walked past.

She was walking past the others, but towards Field who was last man in line before the top table. The pillar caused a narrowing, logically it fell to him to act if acting was necessary. It doesn’t really matter if others didn’t perceive a threat only that he sincerely felt there was one. Look at police officers shooting unarmed members of the public, the same rule applies. The woman wasn’t hurt (as far as we know) Take politics out of it and it’s a non event.

Too many people hate him for him to win an election.

I don’t think that’s true, not amongst tory and prospective tory voters.

So Yates and Carapaz feel their wins are devalued by froome not defending his jersies then ?

That’s exactly the question I’m asking, yes.

I don’t think they’ve given it a moments thought, neither would Thomas if he wins again. You race against those who turn up, anyone else is an irrelevance.

You seem sure that a crime wasn’t committed. Why?

You aren’t legally allowed to use force to remove a trespasser, even if you’ve repeatedly asked them to leave. But that all changes if you believe the trespasser represents a threat. If the woman had remained at the back of the room to make her protest then any grabbing and throwing out by Field would probably be assault.
But she didn’t she was walking in how I’d describe as an assertive manner towards another part of the room, presumably towards the speaker. Fields assertion that he felt she could be a threat of some sort isn’t completely unreasonable. If he maintains that defence it’s unlikely that charges will be brought or if they are result in conviction. Especially as in the great scheme of things he wasn’t unduly violent. Politically though it’s not good for him, most people (myself included) will feel he just acted out of anger. I can see his suspension ending in him being fired from his job but no more than that.

I do wonder if the old 90s debate of trail erosion will rear it’s head again.

I don’t think an e-mtb passing over the ground causes any more erosion than a normal mtb, or at least only a tiny amount. Its the ability to turn any riding area into a uplift zone with multiple runs of often un maintained trails that can cause more erosion than conventional bikes.

They’re just too bloody expensive for me at the minute….

And thats the tipping point, certainly as far as e-mtb’s go. The majority can’t or wont spend anything like what a good e-mtb costs. Commuter type things are a lot cheaper and make sense for personal tranport so people are more likely to buy those.
And to molegrips, e-bikes are routinely modified to make them faster, when someone gets taken out by one of those and its a slow news day just watch the hysterical reaction it gets from or media 🙁

Obvs not as bad off as those without frames but they owe me a T-shirt or refund.

Fair enough I’d want a shirt or my money back as well.
But it would be interesting to hear from the OP or one of the early posters to see how their getting on. A list of people owed frames/money seems to have been created, is that list being worked through ?
I’ve known of people with a buisness that has gone through taking out personal loans, second jobs ect and eventually everyone gets paid. Is there any sign of this happening with Sick ? but to know we have to hear of those still owed money.

Let’s have a show of hands, who on here is owed money by Sick ?

So nobody on here then, there must be some people out there so never fear the STW White Knights have got tour back 😂😂

So if I see someone getting mugged, I should shrug and ignore it because it doesn’t affect me?

Yep. If you try and do something about it, you’re the arsehole.

Scots bought less alcohol in 2018 than any year since records began in the early 1990s, according to a new report.

Thats bought (I presume in Scotland) not drunk. Perhaps people are stocking up over the border, it’s been suggest thats what’ll happen in Wales if minimum pricing is brought in here.

Hysteria, hyperbole and conjecture aside, how many people are actually owed money?

Good shout, it’s not cool to owe anyone money. But loads of people on here just seem to be bystanders who decided to put the boot in about something that hasn’t actually affected them.

Heard that as said light heartedly, but it is also the truth. I suppose a sportsman being up front and truthfull must be “shocking” to some.

Looked to me like he was a decent bloke, who was down to earth and happy to mix with us normal folk.

He is,he grew up not far from where I live. Went to the same school as my kids, the teachers think he was a good lad, I know people who coached him they said he was a great kid. The men and women from his first adult club Jiff say he’s down to earth and humble, just a normal guy who happens to be one of the Worlds best cyclists. Moomans got this weirdo chip on the shoulder thing about him 😉.But if he met him (I have) he’d change his mind.

Not sure I understand this – they’re athletes, not tv presenters (apart from those that now are) or someone I spend time with down the pub. They can be complete narcissists for all I care, if they’re awesome at their chosen sport then what does it matter?

+1 grown ups going on about people they don’t know and have probably never even met. Discussing how dislikable they are often for the most trivial of reasons 🙁🙁

The one on ebay doesn’t seem nicked, nit at least to my spider senses. But for a £200 saving I wouldn’t give up a warranty. Offer him £600 and maybe go up to £650. I can’t be arsed waiting for the latest new upgraded thing when I could be out riding 👍

Guilty as charged? E-bikers plug in, climb on and carve up the countryside according to the Sunday Times Environment Editor.

E-bikes are quieter than motorbikes but they do the same damage. They have big knobbly tyres, so they can rip up the ground more, just like a motorbike

(Welsh regional surveyor for the Country Land and Business Association).

E-bikes are an increasing problem, I saw two last week with radios blaring on the handlebars as they rode along a trail. The whole point of going to the forest on an evening is to enjoy the peace and tranquility.

(Vice chairwoman of the Friends of the New Forest, Hampshire)

Pretty inevitable that that a e-mtb backlash would begin. Legislation didn’t anticipate the development of the modern e-mtb. Remembering when e-bikes first appeared they were commuter hybrid type things often sold in disability shops. It was tbis kind of thing the laws were whriten to cover.

Thanks for the replies. The PO check and send service looks fairly efficient and good value,

Don’t bother, as above do it online, you take your own photo upload it, it only takes a few minutes. Taxi jnr did his on a Tuesday posted his old passport off the same day and the new one came Friday. Fantastic service 😎
