Squin. It sounds as if your on dangerous ground to me.Bookies do indeed have loosing days as well as winning days. They make their profit on turnover, their odds have a completly unemotional profit margin built in.(you get 8/1 when it should be 10/1).Unless you have a massive win and walk away you will loose in the end.

I’ve worked as a croupier and seen most sides to gambling. If you keep within a pre set budget then it can be a fun, exciting diversion.
It can get a hold on you realy quickly though, the adrenalin can give you a real buzz.If you gamble on a regular basis (not playing poker with friends and your better than them)then you will loose. Its a bit like mtbing good fun,but you’ve got to pay to play.

I think it sucks!! If you have a 17rnd championship surely there has to be a reward for consistency.I wouldn’t want to see the champion crowned on the basis of maybe 5 race wins and 12 dnf’s.

I’ve got a Talas on my 456.Winding it in a bit for steep climbs works a treat.Deff worth a try as you have the fork already.

Ditto the Rockrider. It sounds like you need to buy something and get out riding.I had a R/R frame a couple of years ago, built up as my winter bike, nothing wrong with the frame at all.It rode realy well considering its price.

I’m sure we all wish his wifes Gran all the best. But its a lame excuse full stop. He’s a pro cyclist with a job to do.It sounds like he was fed up with Paris/Nice and just wanted out.

I don’t trim anything at leg hight, but often clear the stuff that might catch you in the face.

Its not neccessary for a person to be present in court, to be tried, judged or sentanced, if they choose not to.Dragging someone in kicking and screaming would serve no usefull purpose.Let them rot in the cells and, maybe let their lack of cooperation be reflected in their sentance if found guilty.

Make sure the stag is up for whatever you have planned. Its his night mind, so don’t spoil it by going to far.

It seems crystal clear to me.The first “I’ll take it,how can I pay” gets it.
Anything else can lead to confusion and bad feeling.

If you accept as the court appears to have done, that the texting and the crash were not realated. Then a prison sentance seems pretty stiff to me.I’ll be interested to see how the appeal goes.

Assault!!! If that fat jerk had come near me on a bike he would have Known what an assault is.You can be against drugs in cycling and you can be a ****t that guy the latter.

I bought some wheels of him based on price and his nice big ad in a magazine. At the time i’d never heard about any problems. He overcharged me £25 all the paperwork etc said the right price but when I got me c/c bill he’d stuck an extra £25 on it.Did I get my money back ? You can guess. They were good wheels though road bike,3 cross seasons.I still have them as spares for cross and they’ve hardly seen a spoke key.

The Royal used to be a large fading worn at the edges hotel.Very much traped in the past. Its had a total overhaul now, and is very much a modern trendy place. Great location for city centre activeties but depending were your room is it might be noisy on the weekends, with all the revellers outside. They’r laying a new gas main outside at the moment wich might be of concern.A bit pricey but apart from that no bad things to report.

I’ve worked in a lbs and agree somewhat with the op.As far as I’m concerned changing a Shimano freehub body INCLUDES cleaning and regreasing the bearings. You can’t do the job properly without doing so. They should have stuck with the £45 max quote.

If you want professional advise you’ll have to see a Doctor or Physio in person. But hot knees can be caused by inflamation of the ligaments and soft tissue in and around the Knees. 500g Ibuprofen tablets will help .It might be a one off but if it keeps on happening see your GP or find the address of your nearest sports physio.

MBOY has made a pretty accurate point.Doing my job I meet loads of people who you could describe as poor. They don’t realy have hobbies or pastimes as such. When they get some money its spent in a hand to mouth fashion.Taxi’s,fags, beer, drugs are only a few quid a time if the money’s in their pocket the spend it.They never accumalate even a few hundred quid.
Members of this forum and less well of mtbers aren’t poor they just haven’t much money at the moment.

You don’t need to be blinkerd to a set travel eg 120mm and think any more is to much. Its how you build it up that counts. My Yeti 575 with its 145mm of travel is under 26.5lbs and for me the perfect Enduro, all day, do anything bike.

If I’m realy muddy my wife hoses me down out the back garden (saves rinsing of my gear before it goes in the wash) I’ll strip of down to my undershorts putting everything in a black bag.All done in view of my neighbours who think its hysterical in mid winter.

Only problem with the 456 is that its so good, you wont be able to stop wondering how good the ti one will be.You know what happens next!!!

Without being an expert on the rules,I think only changing bikes and doing repairs are restricted to the “pits area”.I’ve seen drinks being handed out at other places. It would be best to check when you sign on though.

I don’t drink during the race. But I sure need one at the end.If you’ve got someone going with you, get them to pass you a bottle, take a few swigs and throw it to one side for you helper to pick up.

I weigh 13 1/2st and use 717’s .But thats because i like the feel of a light wheel.I do need to get the truing stand out from time to time though. If you can’t fix your own wheels a stronger rim might be an idea.

I couldn’t say it can’t be done. But I made enquires about this with a number of bike shops and none of them were prepared to do it.If there are any special ti cutting tools out there none of them had any. They all said the same thing, ti would ruin their facing tools.

I’d concentrate on getting the bike mechanically sound to start with.As you say new pads and cables for the brakes.New gear cables, chain, cassette and chain rings.New btm bracket if its worn out.Things like wheel bearings and a good set of tyres.Whats important is that you get out on the bike asap.Unless the forks are totally shot leave them on for the winter, think about better ones come spring. Get it working, get out and ride think about upgrades later.

So much tosh in one thread!!! Of course if a dog attacks you,you have the right to defend yourself. But the law requires it to be proportional. If you kick and kill or injure that Yorkie snapping at your ankle you could be prosecuted (it has happened). As far as the law requiring a dog owner to be in full control of his dog at all times, yes its true but in practise its only applied if the dog attacks someone or causes an accident.Dogs running around, going up to people sniffing them etc is just dogs doing what dogs do.Its part of everyday life and accepeted as such by the law.
All of you guys suffering from Cynophopia should seek treatment (do a google search for your area).Realy dogs aren’t going to go away you’ll be much happier.

I’ve always ridden bicycles of road as a kid in the the 60’s.Probably because my father used to race scrambles (motocross)and I wanted to be like him. When I starded racing MX myself it seemed the logical thing to do, to keep fit.Eventually I gave up the MX and just keep riding Mountain bikes.

It sounds like somethings wrong.I’ve got a cheap mag 500.I’never get anywhere near to having it on max resistance and in the highest gear!!! Make sure the cable activating the resistance is working. If everythings fine think about an entry to the Tour de France or something.
