MR2 really is a bargain priced Elise with great feedback and mid engine handling.

They are great cars and such a shame they are not made anymore.

MX5’s are the classic british sports car, rear wheel drive and just enough power, brought bang up to date and refined by Mazda.

The MX5 is great fun in all situations as you do not have to be going too fast to appreciate it.

For me though it’s the precision of the MR2 that wins it.

    I had the same dilemma.

My daughter has a new iPad and yes it’s nice but I could not justify the extra just for a better screen so bought a refurbed iPad 2 from the Apple store and very pleased I am too!

I suspect the sentiment and antipathy towards London was the the same in the 1908 and 1948 depending on your view point. You can’t please everyone all of the time.

The money thing is a bit of a misnomer though as with any investment there is a return whether it be by the increase in visitors/tourists, increase in trade, the use of facilities for communities/sports after the games or indeed the increase in employment to design, construct and serve the games.

TBH with the economy as it is it will provide a timely boost, not to mention the feel good factor….oh wait.

I did it and it was brutal. The misleading bit of the course description is “14km unsurfaced” or something like it. Basically means great big craggy rocks and slippy slate interspersed with the odd bog.

Trained by running up and down the North Downs and the usual long rides so was fairly well prepared.

When it came down to it I just wasn’t up to the mark. I was languishing with the back markers as one by one they dropped out, I kept going and got a (forty!) second wind as I saw the Ribblehead Viaduct. Hammered the road setion but missed the cut off at the bottom of Pen y Ghent by 1 min 30. Pretty gutted but gave it a go.

Great scenery, great race, great people, but as suggested above, lots of fell running would be by far the best training.

Bloody hell you lot are miserable.

Do you think the whole corporate side of it would be any different in any other part of the world? That’s just par for the course these days.

Personally I’m looking forward to it, the same as I would look forward to it if it was in any other country.

    Yep.

Having a less than succesful bonfire I sprinkled (Thank god I didn’t chuck it on!!!)petrol around the base then lit it.

WWWWOOOOOOMPPPH!!! The flames exploded about 3 feet in the air and scared thne shit out of me, luckily only burnt my eyebrows.

Other half leant out of the window and said “You’ve got it going then!”

Sounds pretty bad but all depends on a variety of factors such as damage to the cartilage, time taken to put back in etc etc.

Mine took around 6 months to sort itself out, then I had to have an operation and all the ensuing physios etc around another 6 months. I now have three screws holding the cartilage into the socket.

And unfortunately will never be the same, with around 80% flexibility but day to day stuff is ok, it’s just if I have to over extend.

Dogs are pretty hardy in reality.

My two dogs helped themselves to a few handfulls of rat poison pellets that I put out. Obviously we ended up in the vets for a proper checkover but apart from their savage farts they were ok.

Word of warning. I love my strong cheeses however I met my match with Stinking Bishop. Putrid horrible stuff, truly vile.

I know it’s mainstream but you can’t go far wrong with St Agur, leave it out of the fridge for a few hours and it’s superb.

Me IT Test Manager while the better half runs her own dog grooming company.

I’ve had a few weeks off here and there in between projects while the missus has had increased demand if anything and is just about to hit peak season as everyone wants their dogs to be sparkly for Christmas.

All in all it’s been a good year thankfully.

Agree with all of the above.

Road bikes are very different beasts and require a much higher degree of tweaking to get the best fit and comfort for the rider than an MTB.

The ride is obviously harder than a well damped MTB and just increases the kicking that road bikes can give out.

You’d be better off doing a life sentence in a Turkish jail!!

Give it a miss and build up slowly to the required mileage.

I do krav maga and almost had to use at fireworks on saturday as a group of chavs pushed into the queue for the bus and pushed my wife and stuck a sparkler towards my daughters face.

Would have loved to teach them a lesson but thought better of it – i got the police instead who kicked them off the bus and gave them a bollockin!

    Drunk with regrets??

After a proper nights lagging I always get that pit of the stomach paranoid ill feeling that something bad will come of it but then I am one of lifes worriers.

Though I was passed all this but two weeks ago went out with my wife for our anniversary which started off pleasant enough with a meal and vino blanco, we then headed to a pub with a band on and hit the shorts.

Things then got interesting of which I will not go into but to cap it all I got up in the morning and our front door was wide open!!

In all my drinking life I have always managed one thing and that is to secure my dwelling.

Still can’t believe it but luckily nothing was nicked but my god!!

    It was okkkkkkk……

Doc was good settled me down with a scotch and coke.

Started talking about twitching which indeed I was.

Strange feeling having a bloke fondle your balls but hey I’m here so do it to me muddyfunster!!

Informed me that I have a node on left 1 which kyboshed my “man not going to Doctors for nad problem” cancer fears. Result!

A couple of “injectiones” and I was comfortably numb. A small slice and some slight tugging (Quiet at the back) while the executioner pinpointed the corterising.

    And then this:

” You may smell somtheing like cooking bacon as I do this. ” And the proceadure began.

SSSSsssssssshhh – Smoke rising – SSSSHhhhhSSS – More smoke rising – “Ooooooooooohhhhhh I can smell bacon……”

    Lovely:

Left 1 fine – Right 1 not fine. Multiple tugs and pulls, even with the anaesthetic ***Ouch***.

“All done now” says Hannibal. “Here you go!”

Hannibal shows me a good inch of each Vas Deferentia that has been severed.

I ran home as fast as I can.

    – This may or may not be true –

Pretty sore but after a couple of days rest it all settled down.

Absolutely love it now, nothing to worry about (Wife and two kidiwinks)and I haven’t lost my mojo!!

IMO if you buy French then you deserve it.

There is a reason that they are dirt cheap.

Buy a C – Max they are great cars for what you need.

    Calm down boys!

    It’s horses for courses innit!!

Diesels are great for the every day economical family stuff and indeed a modern diesel drives very nicely, some are even pretty sporty the PD’s and 330d’s for example. Also a simple remap can unleash even more torque based fury from pretty much any oil burner.

However for fun and frolics a petrol engine is king. For me it’s the ability to rev a la Type R or Alfa 33 as mentioned above and the noise that goes with it. Something a diesel inherently can not do.

Still horses for courses. If I was to only have one car to perform all duties then for me it would be a powerful/sporty diesel.

Have designed and tested said sites in the past and while some sites are less truthful than others (no names) a lot of discrepancies are in the detail. So you click through and the excess changes from £250 to £100 or breakdown cover is added and the price goes up!

The insurers do this to up there revenue. The key is to double check and tick and untick all the boxes you do or do not need. The aggregators would get strung up if they consistently misled.

    Miele schmiele!

Dyson Animal here, (we run a dog grooming parlour) and it deals with everything that 6 dogs a day can throw, oh and two kids and a Homer Simpson dad at it.

I read also that Dyson are no 1 in 8 European countries, and for obvious reasons.

Ours was a 2004 and was super dependable if a little juicy. Expect about 30 mpg. All that mine needed was a new battery in 3 years of ownership.
Also got me up and down some closed roads during the snow very impressed with that!!
Great big boot on it, great for holidays.

And I think apart from the wheel on the back they still look fresh.

I have a 2 litre Cosworth 205 block Westfield and its been great. Strangely Im thinking of selling as Im just not using it enough and fancy something more practical. Which I never thought I would contemplate.
Brutally fast and great fun especially the noise. Id recommend a seven type car to anyone who loves their driving.

As always depends where you live in Carshalton. It has one of the biggest estates in Europe, built after the war to re home all the central Londoners that had had their homes flattened.

My experience of Carshalton is that it’s best avoided. I now live in Reigate/Redhill and it’s a world away. Great for central London or the coast, Gatwick and the M25 on the doorstep. And of course the North Downs. I have a 3/4 mile of road before I hit the bridleways and believe me with some of the stunning scenery you could be in Wales, just ignore the rumble of the M25!!

I just can’t see me moving for a very long time!!!

    Neilsonwheels MTFU suggestion is good.

Simple fact is it’s a gamble. 50/50. It might work it might not.
When it works it works well.

The M25 is a unique motorway, as soon as you get on it you either speed up to 85 and sit 5 ft off the car in front of you or slow to a 2nd gear “junction crawl” for a few miles.*

    * when it’s working
