got some post trail ale called "Aass" !

Germanic luggage folk Or\tlieb make a filter (paper) holder … which I cannot whole heartdly reccommend as on the 1st expd i took it on i mistakenly believed it was actually a filter itself, but no obviously it was wasn't….eventually we used the material for patching something else…brew production a mokka machine is surely the way to enjoy the magic bean…

I started using a long awhile back for whilst recovering from a broken collar bone – as the riding position offered was just right post injury…still using them now – so yes a bit of a fan. Mostly run singlespeed, but did try bar end touring shifters in the ends which looked a bit mad – but worked…

Candodavid, coincidence!…this rider often feels slow & lethargic not so sure about the frame!?–springy and very light–i do have some concern if it can really take the riding it see’s these days. Curtis singlespeed could be an option — like the localness too!

Candodavid, it is AndyCs Curtis, maybe thats why its so heavy…prehaps the “T” stands for tons! So sliding dropouts are a more reliable solution then.

Am riding a DeKerf (R725) here, with all sorts of magical craftwork / metalwork going on. Certainly very comfortable.

Interesting to here some more on 953…

Thinking some more, its noticable that Indy Fab dont really emphasise which tubsets they use by (admitidly it is usually a mix of 853 & True Temper) but I have the impression they prefer to concentrate on other aspects of the design

that is astounding! can almost hear the dambusters theme tune playing!

Question to Candodavid: is your Curtis singlepseed EBB / disc only?

Interesting reading…thread sounds just like many a Mendip ride I’ve been sinced some friends of mine went on the Dave Yates frame building course! Incidently one of them rides a Curtis 853 also , seems very heavy to me, but a fine looking frame all the same.

I realise this is straying from the subject a little…but does anyone know anything more about Reynolds 953?…

am interested to learn what the connection is between Mr Whippy Ice Cream & Thatcher is…

had to edit the post cos i spelt thatcher wrong!!! (legacy of a 1980s education?)

I was going to ask if it was a disc only frame…but I see later in the posting you mention Hope Minis so I geuss it is?

I have a YBB & think they great…quite fancy a rigid one as simple singlespeed. If you decide to proceed with splitting it up i could be interested in the frame only…

For selling make sure you have some pics ready to email interested folk.

See also the retrobike.co.uk – there’s a good classified section there too.

    Goodluck.

You are welcome to your opinions but at the end of the day everyone else was behind her…

as my grandad (RiP) used to say…

“thatcher, thatcher, quick as a fox,if you can catch her,put her in a box”

i often wondered what this rhyme meant.

That’s looks brilliant…will try and get over for that next yr.
The course looked cool, and tavern time too, supreme.

Bit of a geeky observation this:
John Climber in yo 1st pic there’s a nice Green DeKerf (I ride the same), it appears to running disc brakes on the back – how’ that done?

I flew with KLM out to where I am (Oslo) with my Dekerf in a bike bag … no cost at all! …unless you count hours & hours of sitting around cos they’d chronically overbooked all the flights blah blah…goodluck with your trip!

Bath Ales…SPA / Gem / Wild Hare etc. if they made bike frames they’d be Independent Fabrication…(maybe a little biased)

John Bikes is a sound shop , so is AVC. palce for all things Brompton / Moulton & so on. TF is more for trialtheltes butg do mtb kt too
There’s a nice shop called Itchy Feet which is handy for outdoorys kit too.

I ride a DeKerf R725 SSpd…that’s lovely, and a decade or so old now.
Ultimately tho’ I think I’d like a either Reynolds 953 Indy Fab (not yet made) or (button moon on mr spoon) a Phil Woods Piss Off (indy fab ti v. ltd.ed) … (but with discs).

Should anyone care to offer me these please?
