FAT Chance titanium #13…no pictures tho' as it's back at the framebuilders (again!) getting a weld repaired…

When read the words 32 of these only made…it had to be a Phil Wood PissOff, although no offence meant but I'd be pretty p1ssed off if eiht the crazy flames paint work…prehaps it looks more mellow in reality?

whilst recovering form a badly broken collar bone i did a of walkng and swimming alongside physio…when i evntually got back onto the bikes (mellow road riding to being with) i found altering my riding position very helpful, (higher & more back swpet / supportive)
Using Jones H-Bars worked well for me.

I actually got as far as asking I.F. about a 953 frameset – apparently the mtb project is on hold for a bit as their stocks of 953 tubing were a bit low …
geuss it give us all time to save up for one when they eventually start taking orders !!!

I think my favourite has to be The Orb live @ Glastonbury 1993 it was a good experience for me there & then – and I enjoyed hearing some of the set again on the LP Orb Live'93 or on the tape I sernedipitously recored off Radio 1 not long afterwards

Mind you Orbital played the following year, and the live Gasto compoliation album releeased awile back inspires too

Sticking to the regal theme, sounds like this tyre should be remaned the "Throne" … or prehaps "Abdication".

I've been running the Blk.Chill Kings pretty happily in dry but over wet slick rock is sketchy, so if they fit my forks am hoping to try the R Queens instead

johnikgriff, are E150 forks the long travel DTSwiss forks?
If so am good to go :D … according to the specs the models have the same tyre clearances. 8)

Will running em' on a Mavic 717CD

I know that there's a 2.2" model also , but my undertanding is that these do not have the lack the "Black Chilli" compound.

    RetroBike

See the link above for a good source of infomation about this kind of kit.

I suspect they are the original Nuke Proof, the dimension & "carbon weave" look similar – Nuke Proof were more well know for making the first 'non Shimano' aftermarket hubset with a free-hub body (I think).

As what to do with them – that's up to you!

Interested to know if there were on Orange Bloods out on the demo day?

lol @ "Bikedebts" … have found memories from BITD of visiting mid ride to drool over the amzing frames they would hanging up! Most often including a Yo Eddy etc…

For more knowledge on this you could try posting a question on the Norweiagn mtb mags forum here (see link above hopefully) on the Norweigan mtb forum (Utflukt is the sectoin to look ask a question in)

Have yet too see latest mag yet…but (looks out of window) the trails around all around Oslo are lots of fun I have been riding them most of this year. What I ridden so far has been wonderful..also it's no hassle at all to put your bike on a train / plane and travel further afield.

    Happy trails! :-)

    mild swimming? :o

no teeth i'd say yo jumped into the shallow end there!

apart from prehaps the concept of "wild" anything in the British I generally something of misnomer…i'd say the attention these recently published book have brought to a variety of aquatic pursuits is more of a celebratory than cynical-cash in.

sell it and get a titanium frame?…otherwise IMHO if it's probably only worth going to to the trouble of replicating the decals if a) the bike model is very meaningful to you or b)it's a retro classic e.g FAT Chance etc.

That said and done I rememember the "controversy" caused with my good riding friend by going for a well meaning S-Works Ned Overand replica look BITD of 1992, when infact my bike was only a team Stumpjumper.

So a moral might be keep simple, and maybe do not try and transcend the 'model' no matter how cool you think the look might be!! :-)

mate, get the water wheels rolling if u can!

i really like that place, it would be amazing to get it turning agian…originally, apparently, the wheel used to provide powere H.E.P fpr the eastablishemnt etc. not too mention shoe polihisng servises as power dwindled (info all avaiulible o read on a nice sign by the wheel). T
Lovely location, much respect for the possible rennovations, & hospitality when I've been lucky ewnought ot ride thru,

i'd be suprised is u found any pics from that early era…i recall reading in the S.R.O archives: accounts of steam rollers mending lolcal roads , and debates about whose responsibility it was to provide good fencing around the perimter of quearry n'ting…my best suggestion (offthe top of muy head) for infomation would be go study the relevent docs yoursself and fit it to the ground , or else contact the good folk at the nearby W.S.R as i can enviage someone there knowing a lot. Goodluck!

i like this thread a lot…especially reading ifrom a Fjord far far away.

re. quarry working: there are some good refs to ?this Quarry extracting 'roadstone' in the early 20th C. in the relevent R.D.C minute books held in the Somerset Records Office.

    looks like a fine exploration.

    Nice outcome…
i recently discovered a crack in my much ridden Fat Chance titanium -so this thread makes interesting reading – my thoughts are once failed it seems pretty difficult (but not impossible) to salvage a ti frame cost effectively?… Which puts a perspective on the "for life angle"…basicaly while ti frames (& obviously all are not fabricated equal) will not rust, once they bust, they are dust?
