really!…have run Middleburns since BITD…but am about to install some XTRs for the upcoming season…would be delighted if this was true!
Is that a picture of the proto versions of said EBB compatible cranks?…

Hopefully existing middleburn spiders can be interchanged as well?

hmmm interesting…saw this thread mentioned on RetroBike.

am a firm believer in actually riding bikes – so I do hope you do so , looks like fun – if a bit wiggly!

just an observation – but the cable routing on for the rear brake hose doesn not look ver neat – complicating the lines of an already complicated machine!

Bike nagazine reviewed one of these back in the mid 90s …

Apparently somebody used to ride one around in Leigh Woods.

Cheers Si, appreciated 8)…i'll drop ya an email…anything gotta be cheaper than the prices have seen in here in Oslo! 8O

Currnet faves are some bargin DT Swiss EXC 150mm with a 20mm axle.
Partly becuase have been running with Pace forks since '92…and my current 100mm set have the same adjustment features etc.

Not really sure I can be really arsed with adjustable travel for this bike?…

    Can anyone expain otherwise? ta

    Ah cheers ya'll…very informative indeed.

I was wondering about the Halo allen key 'skewers' things too, presuambly they just eliminate the possibility of them loosening like QR can sometimes do , rather than offering a improvement on front wheel / fork stiffness – which it sound like the 9mm Swiss DT system does (a bit).

The crucial bit of info was that Hope do a 9mm conversion kit brilliant.

Ooh…Syncros Cranks cool! could find a nice home on my DeKerf Implant. :D if the price is ok

The Olive Green DeKerf paint finish is lush – my Dad's Team SL is that colour – whilst my singlspeed is / was a flat muddy brown… the early Team SLs had fillet brazing around the seat tube area which was very elegent indeed.

If your really stuck … go visit RetroBike.co.uk , and find this chap called "just backdated"
He actually services old pace forks & has spares n'stuff availible … maybe your missing some kinda crown race / steerer tube shim or something like ???

not seen the mag yet ,

but have to agree about the "interviews" thing …they really are pretty lame IMO – especially when you compare the content / topics 'discussed' with similar interview based features from the very early issues of the mag.

I was about to write a small essay on DeKerf.

But more importantly, Mr bent udder, are those Syncros Cranks your running there, if so may I purchase them?

Quite dedicated to DeKerfs ridden quite a few of them, love the geo & craft n' colour styles. Smiles for miles. Like a modern day 1 man FAT City.

Started ridding a DeKerf FS in 1998 purchased from the Vince at Recycle.

Few years later my Dad (Team SL) & I (singlespeed) got Dekerfs again from Vince. Uttlery brilliant. My singlespeed finally cracked n'failed last season after some ferocious Fjord riding in Norway – should have brought the Implant with me instead…ach well.

It's worth keeping an eye on Retro Bike as DeKerfs appear on there sometimes, but as it's for you beloved best buy new eh?

Hey taka Tom, please could you email me some pics of the kit as well? ta

tangent 16 AT bt internet DOT com

(I wasn't sure if it was polite to ask outside of the classifieds forum)

Got a nice green ano based build up going on for my new singlespeed – was lucky enough to find a NOS green ano Ringle bottle cage , to replace the dented and now toasted one I've had for >10 years.

Really suprised green is not more widely used as a colour.

no idea – but why not use the numbers on the written on the frame and take it from £5.50p ? £550 ?…

soory slight hi-jack of thread here, but did the term "All-Mountain" come from the ski world originaly then?, like "FreeRide" did?

My opinion of Great Uncle Bulgaria from the Wombles is now somewhat diminshed after reading about this documentry…

Happy Hols! , are you mtb'ing there?

    Thanks 4 sharing those…looks like a fine day's riding.
I love that final shot…low solar angle fantastic.

Mendip / Qtks has been my lifelong riding patch (with a few lengthy overseas intermissions) so seeing those makes one quite nostaligc.

Which pub did you descend to?

dunno – only do Nordic XC – but love the Stumpjumper analogy / benchmark! (alto' spose you should be referencing D.H. bikes really!)

Boots whatever style always seem to put the boot in so to speak – the adivce about getting a pro fit is wise

oldgit I think green was a std colour awhile ago, probably around the sametime purple stuff was still being produced.

For what it's worth … who knows? – but personally I'd not pay more than 'box fresh' proces for used stuff.

Incidently last time I looked an outfit called 'Tarty Bikes' had some singlespeed / trails green hubs availible.

how 'pro' do you have to be to get some?…

Nice thoughts…I am following a similar style for on my singlspeed – apart from the Brooks saddle

FYI , BITD (circa early 90s) MBi ran a feature on this very 'concept', Mavic being used to sort mechs n' rims.

A 'Concorde' (Anglo-French) bike would be easy to put together. Also in a nice nod to the current the state of play in the bike industry -would be super sweet pretty much whatever style you of build / bike you went for.

Ah I see…so 'No Fun' then! thought it could be a bit 'experimental'

Am considering ways of making my front wheel fixing more secure, but am reluctent to invest in a DT Swiss skewer thingy – which seems to cost as much as Hope hub!!! – when it warms up I think I shall search out my original late '80s XT skewer!

ouch!…at least you noticed whilst you were cleaning it!

dunno about welders for alu at all, but I did just spot somebody selling pretty much box fresh Intense over in the classifieds just now…just in case you require a plan b so to speak.

Offer the artefact in the classiffed?

…O/T FS. full relic face headgear…or headbadge may suit Cove frames?

Prehaps Saracen will be interested in using it to advertised their newly revived bike brand with it?…(anybody recall the P.R. Museum exhibit of the shrunken heads used in an ad form the early 90s?!)

    £30 quid that is ridiculous

maybe call for something other than a Chinook helicopter to 'help' then?…not sure that it be too trail friendly tho'.

more seriously from a Public Rights of Way perspective, the vehicle is clearly way 'off piste' (to put it politely) it would be interesting to know what the consequences are…BlackDown over on Mendip has been taking a real hammering from 'illegitimate' 4×4 useage too

no hopping (yet!) Kona_ona, but some desperate manouvers are required to keep going along cleanly, mostly it was that I really did the difference when I stopped riding my King hub and started back on the gears…and your point about the cost difference in this time of earthquake crisis is spot on.

been studying the spec's some more now, thanks for link Smarty – there's so much stuff on the Hope site I never quite know what am looking at, and understand that Hope's singlespeed / trails hub offers more points of engagement than the regular Pro 2 I've become used to.

Lastly seems you can get possibly get them in green…decision made! -thanks

smarty, so pick is better than the Pro 2s then…that's good to know, but sounds like not as instaneous as King which I really came to depended on.

ah the CK colours :D!…currently thinking of green or possibly brown (as a tribute my old now broken singlespeed frameset) choices , choices

in the short time I was there (December) the riding I found N & S was sweet. In particular a gold mining place down south somewhere was just incredible for my riding style… Lots of other things to do, walking and watersports being just two. It's fun, and the kiwi attitude & welcome is superlative. Goodluck!

Yeah I thought the article about the Orange Blood (in what was an otherwise outstanding issue IMO) was a bit of a let down, still inrtugued about the bike tho' could be a fun one for next season…
