you get a bill, size depending on how hard you crash. Spend 50 quid on insurance, you know it makes sense.

No you don’t – see above.

Actually in most of the EU you will not be charged if you do not have insurance. Its just if you are insured you get taken in the private heli and private ambulance to the private clinic. No insurance you go with the public services. There is a very healthy private system based around the ski areas

The rules do vary around in different countries and even in some however France for example has free mountain rescue as a legal right.

you can run a 9 spd chain and chainrings but a singlespeed chainring is better especially if you have to run a tensioner

The weight of the rear hub will affect a full sus. Dunno who noticeable it would be

Have a look at the myka – Mrs TJ is 5’5″ and had to go for a 17″ frame – they also do a 15″ and a 13″ which was tiny IIRC

“Nah. Risk Compensation will sort that out. Folk will just driver faster.

No, cos in order to do that people would have to be thinking about what they were doing. They mostly don’t!

Thats not how it works – risk compensation is not a concious choice by and large

I had a hire car with esp of some sort at HTN – getting out of the snowey carpark was amazing – you could feel it making the most of the grip and I was surprised

No great downside to it as far as I can see.

Farmer John – that is just utter bobbins you know.

A good example of the “gap”. We are told by NHS staff that focusing specialist procedures (and significant volumes of these) in a small number of hospitals is bad news

Just 100 % wrong – clinicians the country over know that to concentrate specialities in a small number of hospitals is best. Evidence based practice adn this is what the evidence says – its the politicains and the general public who rail against this

There’s almost no focus on improvement, quality or excellence, and that’s entirely down to the NHS Culture in which staff convince themselves the NHS is perfect and can’t be improved.

Wrong – there is a huge focus on this leading to massive change in the way we work to bring best practice to everywhere – this is made much harder by market lead reforms.

Still – what do I know – I have only worked in healthcare both public and private for decades

The fact their are posh and used their money to buy their way out of trouble is clearly wrong.

the fact they are posh and this arrogance led them to believe their crimes were only hi jinks is wrong

Sorry – the two are inextricably linked. Its the poshness and wealth that breads the arrogance to behave as they did

    None at all. Junkyard

I do note that no one has actually tried to make a serious defence for the governments policies despite the swivel eyed loons being out in force on this thread.

When even they realize its indefensible then the end must be near. Please

Teenagers being silly? A bunch of posh yobs out of control buying their way out of trouble. Symbolic of a particularly nasty arrogance shared by them.

If they hadn’t had been rich and behaved like that criminal records and possible jailtime for some would have been the outcome

I enjoy the colour he brings to politics but I am not blind to what lies under the amiable buffoon exterior. I suspect he is rather more capable than Cameron and Osbourne having actually done a real job or two in the wide world.

I can imagine and its not unreasonable at that point. if it was 7 pm the nurses had bolloxed the whole thing and forgotten you I bet – hasty run down to the canteen for something. Ward dinner will have been over hours before

The main reason for crap hospital food is again – money. its an easy place to attack budgets

Hence crap food. However they should be able to cater for vegans but I do not really see why families shuld be fed except in rare circumstances

Ransos – I bet the average is around 15 or less – so a 1 mph drop is significant What is shows is how little time is saved in a 30 mph limit for car drivers

    TandemJeremy
    Free Member

Project this is my point – thats doing it half arsed way ( which is a waste of time) – the only way is to make the 20 mph the default and by removing all most /all of the road signs show this – then 30 and 40 limits have to be signed but overall there is less signage

No doubt Germany is better in some / most ways- its also significantly more expensive. No doubt about this at all.

Graham. Maybe indicative if wrong way as above but a real 20 mph zone is not just a speed limit. It needs to be reengineered roads and the lack of road markings is a part of this.

Its all a part of the comprimise. Cyclelanes on 40 mph / main roads yes – and real ones segregated from the traffic. 20 mph zones – car does not have priority / right of way thus no need for cycle lanes.

shit video that shows the common sorts of road layouts in the netherlands – 20 mph zones, minimal road markings cycles both ways down streets that are one way for cars, parking only in marked bays

Graham – no cycle lanes in 20 mph areas – not needed. You are right tho a lot of it is about road design and engineering

    Farmer John

Germany pays significantly more than us on healthcare – much of it on administration because of the complex funding. It is also not dominated by PLCs having a lot of co operative and charity run organisations.

there is not a single example I have ever seen where private healthcare is not more expensive with worse outcomes than public provision. Teh only savings possible in the vast majority of cases is on staff – reductions in salaries and training.

Private healthcare requires much regulation to ensure basic minimum standards are met.
