I’d happily watch it ad infinitum, I just love how beautifully shot it is and the pace is just right. The fact that it’s managing to also tell a decent story is almost immaterial.

Are you talking about stopping power or the actuation?

If you’ve got unusually long lever travel and or spongy feel, it’s not the pads.

Check the spring tension in the caliper and alignment, correctly toe the pads with the bare minimum of clearance. Check the cable inner and outers from end to end.

My 6800’s have a real positive bite over quite a short throw but still allow good modulation. That’s with standard Shimano pads.

As I see it, the whole concept of a left wing party has become part of the problem. We are stuck in a two party polictical system and left and right are co-dependant. Labours very existance seems to further enable the Conservatives.

Working out how Labour can become re-electable over the next decade isn’t the answer. It perpetuates the cyclical nature or worse, dooms us to many more terms of Tory rule. This country simply needs a much more representative parliament. We need the parties, candidates and electoral system to enable it.

Our 43″ 2012 Samsung Smart TV is still working just fine. I don’t think the UI is particulalry slow – ok. it’s not ‘latest iPhone’ fast, but it never was.

It still supports YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video etc. It would be nice if it had the NowTV app (which our small 2017 Samsung telly has), but other than that zero complaints.

The highest quality source we have are HD channels from Virgin Media. Absolutely no point in going 4k and at our viewing distance, the size is ample.

As I look around my office, I doubt even 50% of people are actual FTE’s. I’ve no idea what each individuals contract is, nor their core working hours. It doesn’t matter one iota to me or any of my colleagues. I’ve no experience of this having a detrimental affect on anyone’s career.

Fortunately, the work environment is evolving rapidly and giving good staff the right work:life balance is increasingly important to employers.

Get a referral for an MRI? Not sure how much they are, I guess a few hundred pounds unless you have a private healthcare policy that will cover it.

Does the bonus push your earning in to a higher tax bracket? If so, the only advantage I could see is allowing you to do something like increase your company pension contributions to keep you below the threshold. Otherwise, as above, one lump sum FTW.

I’ve just bought a skoda superb 2.0tdi and it takes a good 3-4 miles to get up to temp

Oil temp or coolant temp? Coolant reaches temperature very quickly. I’d be suprised if the oil was reaching ‘normal’ temperature in 3-4 miles on any diesel engine. In winter, it’s more like 10 miles/15 mins of steady driving for the oil to be fully heated (>80°C).

This one will be under the tree for TP Jnr. We were sold on the self containing aspect which will hopefully prevent bits of track ending up scattered acrosss the entire house!

How frequently has it been serviced? If it’s set to flexible servicing, it may not have had many oil changes in that mileage. In contrast, a fixed service interval would mean an oil change every 10,000 miles.

Also, what is your intended use like?

Regarding the DPF, it would be worth having someone with the capability to interogate the OBD to determine the likely status. Even with appropriate use, it could well be close to filling with soot.

I like my 645. Felt like a nice upgrade from my 235 in terms of quality and features. No complaints about battery life.

Zero hours contracts are two way agreements – the employer doesn’t have to provide any hours but equally, the employee doesn’t have to work any either.

Therefore, you can ban this type of contract without stipulating how many hours an employer must offer.

    340i is a 3.0 litre, 6 cylinder engine producing 340ish bhp.

    520i is a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine produce 180ish bhp.

Although they share the same basic architecture (based on the BX8 modular engine design), the extra cylinders and ponies are a little detrimental to fuel economy.

The B48 petrol engine is really rather good. Way better than any of BMW’s previous 4-pots, anyway.

Regarding running costs, @6k miles p.a. the car will only ask for an oil change every 24 months. If you intend to keep it long term, I’d recommend an annual oil change but always be sure to use the correct/approved type.

Find the reg of a used one that fits your criteria and type that in to the BMW service website. It’ll give you the servicing requirements and local dealer costs.

Lot of complaining here from people who get free taxpayer money for a lifestyle choice…

Nobody’s complaining about the free money – it’s paying it back that’s the problem ;)

Reading around online, it suggests that taxable benefits managed as income in this way shouldn’t appear on my P11D. Is this right?

Sadly, I no longer work for that company so can’t just go down to the payroll department to query it. Probably should have paid more attention when the P11D was issued!

My prices are probably out of date, but my local powder coaters would strip and spray a frame and forks for about £40 as long as you wanted a basic colour. You just had to leave it with them until they were doing a bigger job in that colour and they’d tag it on the end.

    £480 sounds awfully optimistic. It’s £479 today for a 64gb 8 and £729 for the corresponding 11.

I’d have thought £600 would be more realistic

Asking the employee to work the Monday is not unreasonable.

Asking your team to give up their weekend to visit a hell-hole like Milan probably is though :)

As for the BIK comments, I’d assume the company is making a voluntary settlement on the employees behalf as I doubt the annual £150 exemption is going to cover it!

The answer to that will very much depend upon your circumstances.

Is the broker also an IFA? If so, can you hold off taking out any credit until you’ve spoken to them and looked at all your options?

Real-world the iPhone 11 battery life is only about 11% better (or one hours use). The 8 will still last more than a full working day on a single charge – why do you need more in a work phone?

Currently doing this for our downstairs cloakroom.
It amazed me how much it’s costing.
We’re having the whole thing done & the two quotes we’ve had were originally £5390 & £4068.

We had the following done in our cloakroom earlier this year and it cost £1900 all in:
    – LED downlight
    – Half-height wall tiles
    – new towel rad
    – new vanity unit, sink & taps
    – new bog/cistern etc. that they are having to box out from the wall slightly
    – re-routing pipes (including chasing in) & boxing in waste pipe

Based on the rate we paid, i’d only expect to add £750 (maybe £1k if the tiles were really expensive?) to that for the additional items yours included:
    – mosaic inlay
    – floor tiles
    – walls skimmed

We did have one quote @ about £5k though

183ps sounds like the lowest output of the BMW B48 2.0 petrol engine. In which case, is it a 120i, 220i or 320i (or X series equivalent)?

Fiesta is definitely the right answer. If you don’t fancy the 1.0 Ecoboost, how about the 1.25 NA engine? £4000 will get you a tidy facelifted Mk7.

I got a bike maintenance book at about that age. It was brilliant as it had simple pictorial guides for everything from changing brake pads to truing a wheel. Used it for years.

It happened before School, but it’s definitely worse now. I do undestand the stress this change has caused him and that this contributes to more extreme reactions.

I’m also in favour of rewarding the positives whilst ignoring the negatives. But I can’t ignore him punching her, pushing her in to furniture and hurling quite large toys in her direction. However, I will concede that our reactions to these events have been completely ineffectual (so we may as well do nothing). I’m hoping there is something more effective we can try!

You mean pharmacodynamics. Pharmacokinetics is what the body does to the drug (ie absorb, distrubute, metabolise and excrete it).

Alcohol could easily cause someone to hold the false confidence that climbing a tall chimney is possible. I’ve certainly experienced a sweet spot when drunk when I’ve passed rationality and still have the physical faculties to behave irrationaly. Adrenaline will carry you a fair way too, once you’ve put yourself in a dangerous situation.

NICE have concluded that more studies are needed, as one would expect for an EMA-licensed product for prescription

Why would one expect NICE to conclude this?

Because of this specific products clinical data or because of the Regulatory approval process (i.e. centralised by EMA rather than a National review by MHRA)?
