Rental prices in Cambridge are relatively cheap (certainly compared to buying) and it’s very easy to live right in the City centre; especially if you don’t need to worry about parking a car.

The best bike shop closed a few years ago (Mikes Bikes), but in terms of service, Station Cycles are good. Ben Heyward and Howes have been helpful in the past. The Light Blue in Chesterton are ok too.

The accommodation notice board is still going:

But these days, I think Gumtree is probably a better resource. Worth checking both TBH.

Everywhere is within riding distance of Addenbrookes.

Check out http://www.localsecrets.com/ for restaurant/bar/pub reviews and offers.

If you like pubs, there are plenty (although this map is somewhat out of date):

    Cool, thanks for the replies.

How does the Fox Triad shock stack up against, say, an RP23?

I’m certainly very happy with 1×10 though for racing (36t ring, 11-36 block), wouldn’t go back to a triple for anything, would probably still run a double on a more trail orientated bike I must say.

Are you running a Shimano Shadow rear mech? If so, is it GS or SGS?

I used one degree as an example, the truth is we don’t know what level of resolution the thermometers which have been used carry, since often there are no records – we do know that some places used very, very accurate ones, and some less so – however there are little or no continuing calibration records, so a thermometer that was accurate when new, may well have been significantly out five years later. again, this all goes in the unknown pile.

So global warming could be worse than we originally feared?

If the rated accuracy of a standard thermometer is +/- one degree – how do you reliably detect a temperature change of 0.7 degrees?

Where is it stated that the accuracy of thermometers used to determine the change in average temperature, worldwide was +/-1°C?

Not trying to catch you out, genuine question.

10sp SLX shifter mounted outside of the X2 lever. Moved the shifter to the furthest left position of the adjustable mount and it’s fine.

They should report this themselves the Health & Safety Executive as a 'RIDDOR'. Of course, they won't so call them yourselves on 0845 345 0055. If this happened to someone with an existing heart condition it could kill them, please report it. I wouldn't be suprised if criminal charges were considered.
