Cheers for the replies – I’ll take a look at Pistonheads & Chrono24.

Seems like it’s worth in the region of £400.

Planet-X looks good spec-wise. Not sure about the geometry though.

I went through the same process and ended up with a 2014 Specialized Allez Elite purely down to the fit of the bike (but I got a result in a new LBS having a 15% discount opening weekend at the same time as Specialized drop the £100 from the RRP).

Components are easy to change. But, having bought the wrong size road bike in the past, fit of the frame (height and reach) are everything. Although these can be tweaked with saddle/stem, it’s not going to fix the wrong size bike (and that’s an expensive mistake).

If the results the lab generate have any clinical relevance, there will be regulation and QA. It may not seem like there’s structure, but to the regulator there will be. Without wishing to patronise, junior lab staff often aren’t aware of the QA structure – but this is a QA failure in itself.

Just trying to offer another angle to use in any dispute.

Do you work in a highly regulated environment with QA monitored procedures for the stuff you do? If this is the case, and your manager is asking you to perform tasks for which you aren’t trained, and then using this against you in a performance review… Well, if I were the regulator or QA manager, I’d have a fascinating conversation with your Manager!

Another vote for Bose QC-15. Very comfortable and the noise cancelling is superb. Probably not the greatest in terms of actual sound quality, but for removing background noise they are ideal.

If you park the irrationality, can you find any comfort in the fact you’ve been through all that and still walked safely from every single flight?

Same boat for me. I’ve grown increasingly nervous about flying. I fly regularly for work and holidays, including plenty of long haul trips.

My anxiety peaked with a meltdown pre-flight on a trip to Germany that resulted in me walking off the plane just as they were about to close the doors! I’ve flown since, within UK and felt very panicky but managed both ways. Have a couple of long haul trips coming up which I am dreading but have booked the EasyJet ‘Fearless Flyer’ course to try and get back to my old self.

    Yep, 120 mm.

These look like they’ll do the job. No indication of weight though.

Are there really people who would accept a Wedding invitation without any intention of bringing a gift?

If you are happy to give something, what difference does it make if it’s a George Foreman or cash to the same value?

It’s immensely noble to donate all the gift money to charity. However, I imagine that for the majority, a Wedding has been funded from life savings of either the B&G, the parents or both. Must be lovely to have sufficient cash to pay for all the major expenses in life without any help from friends or family!

As a guess, it’s pretty low density and the constituents parts (flour, fat) probably aren’t actually frozen. It’s the relatively small amount of moisture present that freezes. Due to the low density this can defrost quite quickly.

Not dissimilar to this. Was this washed up on a UK beach or have you lifted the image from another source?

I bumped in to an ex-colleague about 18 months ago. His wife was terminally ill and he didn’t look well. I asked how his retirement was going and he said he missed work dearly. He asked how I was and if I was happy, his final words to me were ‘be sure you have children, not doing so is my biggest regret’. His Wife died not long after and he passed away late last year.

Drop is more likely to be around 50bhp I reckon…

    Why?

There are cars with less than 50bhp at the flywheel. Why would this vehicle have such huge drivetrain losses (unless it’s 4wd)?

Presumably the OP’s dyno measured wheel horse power and the power at the flywheel was extrapolated. By this logic the power output is actually 350bhp.

Any of you Windchill owners have it in Medium or Large? If so, could you be so kind as to measure a sleeve from pit to cuff?

Cheers for the replies. Foam roller was the first thing I was going to try as I already use it for my back.

I have private medical which would cover a sports physio so will persue that if the roller fails to improve things or it gets worse.

    Cheers,

    Paul

M&S are a pretty good fit for tall & slim in their slim-fit range. The cut of their regular sizing in slim waist trousers isn’t particularly flattering, especially with an extra long leg.

In-store sizes are generally limited. I order online for in-store delivery so I can try them for fit and return immediately if they aren’t what I was looking for.

Biggest problem with M&S is finding a suitable style with the right size available. Quality is good in the suits costing ~£150-200.

And I mean, 40 minutes to travel six miles, sort of 1st/2nd gear driving..?

I have a VAG 2.0 FSI (non-turbo), I wouldn’t get more than low twenties mpg.

If I’m driving around town and it’s not congested it is more like low-thirties.

I’m just about to purchase a Defy 2. What size is that? Looks like a M/L or L.

How did you find the size to compare with the CAAD 8?

I’ve got a couple of Topeak Whitelite II’s on the front of my commuter. Easy to remove and pocket size. They seem weather proof – no combination of rain, snow or sub-zero temperatures has killed them yet.

My bank account offers a concierge service that gives 25% cash back from tickets bought through it. They simply use Ticketmaster to actually source them.

NHS recommend 10,000 steps per day, average person walks 3-400 steps per day.

The average is 3000 to 4000.

This place offers good deals, and I think they offer discounts to first time customers. I regularly get emails with promo’s offering between 10-20% off:

I’d visit a good physio. They’ll be able to treat the acute pain you’re currently suffering and advise on posture and stretching to prevent its recurrence. In the short-term, I’d swap the mouse to your other hand.

Is it on the same side as your ‘mouse arm’? Also, do you crane your neck forward e.g. looking at the keyboard or documents flat on your desk?

Does a stretch like this help (with chin tucked in):
