I really enjoy it. It feels like a cross between Voyager and the later episodes of DS9, when they were fully at war with the Jem’Hadar.

I agree that the re imagination of the Klingons is a bit of a let down. They were well developed in TNG so I don’t see why they needed to rip that up. Their space suits/armour are cool though.

I use a Cross ATX. I like the size and weight but this is not to everyone’s taste.

RRP is ~£50 but I think some online retailers sell these within budget.

The worst areas of Paris at rush hour make all parts of London look orderly and civilised. Pedestrians, cyclists, cars, taxis and buses all trying to occupy the same bits of Tarmac. There’s beauty in the chaos.

When I read it to my Son, I read the Tiger as Brian Blessed. TP Jnr. approves of this. OWP!

It’s nicely illustrated and has a Tiger in it. My 2 year old thinks it’s brilliant.

He also loves Goodnight Moon. If you don’t like the Tiger story then I expect this is another ‘classic’ that will rile you.

Did you buy it from a SMART dealership or elsewhere?

I’m not sure what claim you believe that you’ll have. Clearly the defect was not present when the car was sold. Unless the wipers are covered under the terms of a warranty, you are effectively reliant on good will from the dealer and it sounds like they’ve exhausted their options to help you.

The only ‘claim’ you may have is if there are specific warranty terms that the dealer/warranty company are refusing to honour. But, there are often caps on the value of repairs covered so these limited warranties are not blank cheques.

If the car was bought from a SMART dealer and has a FSH from a SMART dealer, then you may get some more mileage from pursuing a claim with SMART UK for additional support in diagnosing the fault. You’ll really need the support of a main dealer here though.

Paisley Freight will pick up most things and are pretty reasonably priced.

Unfortunately I can’t get the oil burner either until next year. FFS how can it take 5 months to get a new ford?

If you do some ringing around, you might be able to find a dealer who already has an allocation who build in your spec to achieve an earlier delivery.

Standard lead times on the ST are pretty long though and always have been.

Is the property served by VM? They offer 9 month student contacts. If so, get their fibre installed for his room.

Don’t tell the landlord and just rip it out and fill the holes when he leaves.

The price in my post does.

£1800/m2 for a single storey extension. East of England and built this year.

That was for the bricks and mortar and plastering.

Plumbing, electrics, glazing and decor were extra.

I doubt you’d get £2k in it’s current condition. Therefore, the sensible option, if it’s really worth £4k running, is to fix it then sell it.

If you have zero appetite for the repair, ring a few VW specialist breakers and see if any of them want to buy it. They’d stick a replacement (used) gearbox in it then sell it on at a decent profit.

If you can find a couple who are interested and get them bidding against each other, that will likely yield the best return in it’s current state. If that fails eBay, 99p and no reserve.

Won’t your existing TiVo box be ‘deregistered’ as part of the registration process for the V6 box?

I’m surprised Virgin didn’t want it back. They sent empty packing boxes and return labels for both the TiVo and Smarthub router when we received our upgrades.

Doesn’t sound like she’s particularly fussy to me!

If she’s energetic and having normal nappies then I’m sure she getting enough food.

With ours, we adopted the philosophy that although some days he either only ate crap or ate very little, over the course of the week he ate a good variety.

Now he’s 27 months, has boundless energy and is growing inexorably.

As it’s a VAG, from new the first owner had the option to either specify long life or time and distance service schedules.

If it were my purchase, I’d seek out one that had been serviced annually (time and distance).

Just note that ‘front-loading’ and having the interest calculated up front (i.e. to give a fixed monthly payment) are not the same thing.

This is how all loans work. Look up Rule 78.
I doubt you’d save £400 by paying the loan back early (regardless of who provided it). There would have been some kind of early redemption charge/penalty which would generally wipe out any “saving”

That’s not how ‘all’ loans work. Besides the fact this is a hire purchase agreement, the OP is not disputing the terms of the agreement. They are claiming the broker misrepresented the terms.

Not all credit agreements front-load the interest. So to be told the terms were the same as a personal loan from Sainsbury’s was simply a lie.

The dealer acted as a credit broker for BH. Therefore, the dealer falls under the remit of the Financial Ombudsman Service.

I believe you have to give the dealer the chance (8 weeks) to address your concern. If they don’t, then the FOS can investigate. It is probably worth calling their helpline anyway to ensure you take the correct course of action.

    The 1989 Ford Sierra XR4x4.

Dad drove company cars and when he brought home the Ford sales brochure that year I pored over the detail of every Sierra, before rightly concluding he must order the XR.

I believe we ended up with a more modest GLS. Nonetheless, an interest for the technical detail and all round love of the hot versions of mundane cars was born.

Not needing a front brake up the world of lovely old steel track bikes with beautiful fork crowns that cannot be drilled for a brake.
If that is not a good reason I don’t know what is.

It’s not and there isn’t one.

I almost (almost) feel sorry for the defendant. Basically a combination of fashion victim/arrogance of youth with the most disasterous outcome imaginable.

From reading drivel like the quoted text, I think this case needs a guilty verdict to set an example for all the other arrogant tossers.

Crumbs, so the £7,100 the OP financed has cost £9,480 over the term. PCP on used cars isn’t a good idea at all. The interest on personal loan of £7,000 over 36 months would be about £300.

Unless the value of the car is equal to or less than the GMFV, walking away at the end of the term is the worst option in financial terms (obviously).

You won’t know what the value of your car is until nearer the time. But, bear in mind that the value is dependent on what you intend to do with it.

BMW will offer you a sum as p/ex against a new BMW. Another marque’s dealership will value it completely differently (typically around the WBAG value). I private buyer will offer yet another figure. Then there’s its value to you under continued ownership – the fact you’ve already paid for the steepest part of the depreciation and that it’s a know quantity in terms of its history.

We looked at the Tiguan and Ateca, neither justified their price tags for us. The Ateca felt especially dreary inside.

The CRV was a different league of capacious. Loved the seats too. Sadly the shite dash layout and naff infotainment system let it down, badly. It’s expensive too.

We went for a CX-5 in the end. Massive discount off list as it was one of the last built before the new model came out. Not as much tech as the Tiguan but still had all necessary features and is a rather pleasant place to sit for a few hours.

Just switched from Scottish Power to Green Network Energy.

GNE are pretty new to UK domestic supply, but the transition was almost painless.

I had absolutely no issues with SP for the 3 years prior to that. They were consistently cheapest and their website allowed us to manage our account very easily. Sadly, they could no longer compete on price so we jumped ship.

How are you getting your place in the Marathon? (no point training for an event you can’t actually get a place for).

Regarding target time, what are your current 5km and 10km PB’s?

Certainly possible to mix training types and recommended to prevent injury. But, you’ll need to very much be focused on training to run with a bit of cycling in between. Not the other way round. You’ll also need to consider some strength and conditioning.

From your position, I’d target a half marathon in about 12 weeks, train for that and see how you go. Then reassess you goals and decide how you want to build up to the marathon over the following 4-5 months.

How smart do you need it to be?

My Garmin 235 does everything I need and the 245 will probably be announced
soon. I’d have liked a Fenix, but they’re too spendy.

My experience is no better than yours. I’d consider somewhere discreet e.g. Lower bumper. Wouldn’t use it somewhere obvious.

I believe it also very much depends on the skill of the repairer.

It reminded me that the other week I saw a rider at a café stop on a bike with around 12/14″ of seat post exposed & a large stack of spacers beneath his stem. To my mind he was riding a frame too small for him but why is that a ‘thing’ ?

It’s a ‘thing’ because people buy bikes online without trying them or having any advice on correct fit. So, then they are forced to make the bike fit in this way.

In Mountain Biking, there has historically been some element of riders wanting/believing the bike should be a bit too small for them so it’s more ‘chuckable’. Whereas you can get away with this to an extent with a mountain bike, the same philosophy with road bikes is not so forgiving.

I suspect, although have no real evidence, vanity plays a part. The aesthetics of the bike can influence the size a rider chooses. Nobody likes a gate.

Although the reg. plate is different in the first two pictures than the others – same car? Old pictures not representative of current condition?

It’s almost as if you’re suggesting that used car buyers should actually inspect a car carefully before buying.

If only someone offered a service where you could check a cars history based on some unique identifiers. Perhaps you could use the VIN, V5 & engine numbers without relying on an easily removed and transferred plastic plate. If someone could invent that system, I reckon they’d be on to a winner!

Alas, we only have these photos, so this car must be discounted :(

Just buy this. Looks like it’s had all the work done and current owner has recently put 4 proper tyres on it, that’s a very good sign IME.

Butlins @ Skeggy really is brilliant for kids that age.

Ours also loved the Haven Holiday Park we just stayed at in Dorset. Swimming pool, beach, loads of space to run around plus great days out just a short drive away.

I reckon £5k will get you the best of what’s out there (or £4k and £1k to fix any niggles).

In two years a lot can deteriorate on a car at age/mileage you will be looking at. If you are handy with a spanner and willing to keep on top of the little things like worn bushes and small fluid leaks, then go for it. Of course, it may not need any work at all, but I think you’d be kidding yourself to think that running an 8-10 year old hot hatch will be maintenance free.
