Calm, Binners, calm…
I'm currently using a tatty old hybrid for hacking duties atm. Keveevs found the frame outside Barclays Bikes in Dalston, just thrown away. Replacement brake spigot, mech hanger, and a host of tatty yet reasonable bits and pieces, and it's light, quick and not particularly attractive to scrotey thieves. It even has a rack that we found in the street. Can't beat a bike built from salvage. Proper Pikey Bikey™.
TBH, if I were going to buy owt that's going to be left locked up, then this £69.99 SS MTB from Decathlon[/url] would be my choice. Basic, bit heavy, but solid and simple.
SS FTW for a city commuter.
TalkemadaFree MemberSee, I think there's a fine line when 'duelling' on here. I think it's fair game, to attack someone's character, and their views, if you find them particularly objectionable. Going beyond that which is on this forum, is out of order, in my book. Just shows a person to be lacking in class, and intellect.
With Lanesra, it was clear that there were some quite unsettling issues going on. Which is why I was always loathe to have a dig, even when he was being pretty nasty. He did get personal against me once, when I was unable to respond on here. I though that was pretty low. Thing was, he'd actually met me in real life, yet hadn't expressed his views on that occasion. Ho hum. I bear him no ill will.
The regular attacks on Kaesae are something I find really depressing. Again, there are clear issues there, but some folk are either too blind to consider them, or are that insecure themselves, they take some sort of twisted pleasure in abusing the poor bloke. Kaesae himself has been pretty open about health issues that have affected his life quite profoundly, but some individuals can't see past the 'easy target'. I think the bloke's all right; just wants to be part of the 'community', tries hard to fit in, and is actually pretty entertaining. Good on him, I say. Shame on those who seek to do nothing but ridicule him. How 'perfect' are you, ffs?
Anyway.
I must say that I've gained a lot of respect for Yunki as a result of this thread. I think his post above is very honest, and deserving of consideration. Seems like a decent person. Maybe I didn't show him enough respect myself. A valuable contributor, for sure.
We don't always see eye to eye.
But an eye for an eye, etc…

DD; that's good news. I hope the two of you can find happiness, as I have. You have done me a great service, for which I shall be eternally grateful.
TalkemadaFree MemberIt's somewhat encouraging to see that Sputnik is disturbed enough to bring some levity to this otherwise very boring 'discussion'. 😀
I like that. Random odd pics, and strangeness. Good stuff.
This toy car represents all that is evil upon this Earth.
Discuss.
TalkemadaFree MemberPersonally I'd say that in the 13 years in power, the Labour party has managed to stuff up pretty much everything.
You're young, aren't you?
Please explain what the Labour government, on their own, have stuffed up.
I concede the Gulf War was unforgivable. But you're not allowed to use the Global Recession. Britain's actually come out of that reasonably well considering. And didn't the RBS recently make loads of profit for the taxpayer?
The reality is, that your life is probably slightly better under Labour than it would have been under the Tories. People on average now have more disposable income, more consumer goods, are less likely to be victims of crime, enjoy better health care and education than they did under the Tories. Simple facts.
And that's in spite of New Labour betraying their traditional core voter base…
Oh has he gone to bed? Oh well.
TalkemadaFree MemberYou know how it works here Fred, if someone else had posted tripe, you'd be the first to pounce, just most aren't as cowardly to cry and hide behind their 'family'. It was you, after all, that brought them in to this…
I've never insulted anyone's family. And if you look carefully, you'll find I rarely resort to abuse (I make an exception for Ernie).
I read stuff like BoringBob's crap, and my first reaction is '**** you tosser', but then I know that's exactly how certain people want me to respond. You're one of them, Zokes. I've only noticed you because you seem intent on provoking a reaction in me. I suspect you'd quite like me to be be banned; maybe I make people like you feel uncomfortable, hmm? I say things you don't like? And what I've noticed, is that those who resort to personal insults and abuse, tend not to be those who seem capable of formulating intelligent comments.
You know what, that's sad; trying to wind someone who you've taken a dislike to, in order that they respond angrily and get themselves banned. Probably points toward some deep insecurity. You can't 'win' a conflict, so resort to petty, childish and abusive retorts.
Do you really feel a person has much respect for you, or thinks you're 'clever', when you do that? Hmm?
You mention my 'Fanbois'. You almost sound jealous, at this point. As though you'd quite like to generate the same amount of attention that someone like me manages to. Me; I have a big ego, am an attention seeker, and like to 'entertain'. I concede not everyone appreciates this. But you can't please all of the people all of the time…
Overall, I mean no malice toward anyone on here. Some individuals come out with some pretty abhorrent views and opinions, which I find offensive. They deserve to be challenged.
Your sole reason to post the above is to attack me once again. Pfft. Water off a duck's back.
But thanks once again for feeding my ego. It's nice to be noticed.
You will probably want to come out with some witty retort, or put-down. I'm expecting that. In fact, the conceited part of my nature makes me believe I have the power to make you do so…
Your move.
Tick tock….
TalkemadaFree MemberI'm young and clever and have plenty of money and good teeth
Not for long, sunshine…
I hardly ever buy Fairy Liquid….
TalkemadaFree MemberHe said it was not his pencil.
Ha! But you lie, for the evidence is in Brick Dust.
TalkemadaFree MemberI'd say my mate Andrew in Bradford, but I won't lie; I wouldn't employ him. He's a shyster tbh. He asked me to lend him £20 last time I saw him, I said 'you can **** off is what you can do'.
He'll do half the job, take all the money, then he'll disappear. Probably resurface in Benidorm. He done an insurance cam, and buggered off to Las Vegas. Spunked the lot, stupid idiot. Came back completely skint. What an arse.

Back in a minute, chaps, just got to nip off to the Palace for a mo.Yeah, Palace Bingo in Elephant and Castle! 😀
Hice!
TalkemadaFree MemberNice one Talkemada! he probably thought you were telling him what to do when really you were helping him…his projection his loss.
Well, I did think he was being a selfish prick, but couldn't be bothered getting myself worked up over him (saving my energies for youse lot…!).
I know from experience that he will get done; no-one escapes round here. A mate got a similar fine just for dropping me off from footie one time. He can't have been there more than 30 seconds.
The look on his face as he realised, was fantastic. Gave me a really warm glow inside!
Yes, I am a vindictive little bastard! 😆
TalkemadaFree MemberYou get what you pay for
With XTR? You get ripped off is what you get. They're pornographically overpriced. Completely taking the piss.
'Never rust'- they'll wear out long before rust is ever a problem. Just pop 'em out periodically and give 'em a clean and they'll be as good as gold.
TalkemadaFree MemberIf you want to hang it anywhere that will get any natural light coming in, then bear in mind some cheaper prints may fade quite quickly. What you need is something like pigment or dye-sublimation prints for longevity. This technology may only be available at 'proper' photo printing places, and may cost a fair bit.
TalkemadaFree MemberI hope the cables are/were unidirectional and oxygen free
Heh! 😀
TalkemadaFree MemberLooks like we're decided on a Circus of Bromptons then
I preferred Hora's suggestion of a pile of shit! 😆
He is quite amusing at times…
TalkemadaFree MemberPrescott wasn't really getting that this is a great constitutional moment
That's because it's not; it's an insipid, wishy-washy Con-Lib 'coalition' that's about to take over running the country. Something to be hushed up and not talked about too much, in all honesty.
TalkemadaFree MemberHe's probably spending your money on cake, I hope you realise.
They'll be no elephant for you.
What? What you talking about? No don't say that… 😥
TalkemadaFree MemberTsk. He'll put Boulton on his arse!
A Tory MP would have shit themself and cowered in fear…
TalkemadaFree MemberGame on!
Indeed. Now we'll see how really shit the Tories are after all! 😀
TalkemadaFree MemberTosser in a Chelsea Tractor last night; pulls over, parks his car half on the kerb. In a bus lane. On a Red Route (no parking or stopping EVER). Goes to use the cash machine. I pulled up, as I needed to use the machine too. Tried to politely inform him as to his errors. Got a curt 'yes, thank you'. Obviously didn't give a shit, selfish tunc.
Waited until he'd finished, then quietly pointed out the traffic cam pointed straight at his motor.
£80 minimum fine! Winner! 😆
TalkemadaFree MemberLet him have his little moment of fun.
It'll be short lived, thank God…
TalkemadaFree MemberNah, it's beer o'clock, surely?
Might get a kebab actually….
TalkemadaFree MemberOk, go and find me all the stats about cycle racing and football, so that you can prove road racing is a tougher sport.
Off you go.
(That should keep him busy for a while)
TalkemadaFree MemberI'm AWFULLY sorry if I have upset/riled you!
Ha ha! Quite the opposite! 😀
Olly; I have a reasonable understanding of cycle racing, indeed I've even 'raced' myself; against your pitiful knowledge of football.
I'd guess that top footballers are on apart fitness wise with top cycle racers. As I said, it's different types of fitness. Pro footballers will train for several hours a day, with maybe a day off after a game, but even then they'll be doing 'light' training (still probably more intense than most of us do).
If road racing was that exciting, it would be far more popular as a TV sport. The main reason it's actually on TV is because it's a great vehicle for advertising, let's be honest.
I can stand and watch a Sunday League game, and find it as engrossing as a top flight game on TV. I wouldn't bother with a local club race/event.
TalkemadaFree MemberIt is, but they only have so many schemes open there, for whatever reason, so people have to submit an application. It's meant to be fair but it's not.
TalkemadaFree MemberCan see your point yeah u have ur 600 quid bike i have my 2.5k stump fsr and yes u maybe a tad faster but ill guarentee you my spine doesnt feel like its about to snap or my muscles arent bunched up after 8-09 hours riding yes its far m0re than most of us need but ill also guarentee you that plushness the looks there worth every penny, also if you do wanna go crazy ull be left for dust on ur hard tail at the end of the day.i also ride a marin hard tail but 5" of full sus is just so plush why batter urself when u can ride a sofa
Could Babelfish translate this? Any ideas? 🙄
TalkemadaFree MemberYou're lucky. A mate of mine keeps missing out on the C2W scheme, as he has to enter a 'lottery' at his work (big place). They only operate it every 6 months. Some folk have been abusing the scheme; one bloke has bought 3 bikes in the last 18 months…
TalkemadaFree MemberOlly; seems you really have very little knowledge of how demanding a sport football actually is. Your comments are pretty ignorant tbh. Like I said; come down for a game. Trust me, if you're not conditioned for it, 10 minutes in you'll be throwing up. And you wouldn't be able to move much the next day. Nothing to do with 'violence'.
As for 'boring': it's not for you, fair enough. But boring it's not, compared to road-racing. Several hours of a bunch of cyclists riding along in a group is interminably boring. And as a live sport it's crap; whoosh, and they're gone. A TT can be fun, but more for the atmosphere.
How come, after 90 minutes of exercise, they feel the need for 2 rest days? very odd/wet
You really are clueless. If you put your body through that much exertion, every day, you'd soon end up with multiple injuries, and possibly permanent physical damage. One bad injury can end a career. One of the blokes I play with had his leg broken (by Steve Staunton) when he was just 19, playing for Chelsea. Ended his career. He's still the best player we've got!
Maybe choose a subject you know something about before slagging it off, eh? 😉
