When I was 14 my dad bought me my first mtb, it was a hi-gear something or anther. Nothing special but was a second hand fully rigid machine from Brizzle that was made from reclaimed bits of tank from WW2. Went to cyclemart one day to buy a new front mech and shifter as that’s all it was missing and was told baout some local races. Was doing my first race within a couple of weeks of owning my first mtb and did quite well. About the same time my best friends also had their first mtbs and we all did the race together. Fom this point freindships with each other heightened and I couldn’t leeave my bike alone for longer than 24 hours

Rudeboy – was meant to be coming but the mrs has had a bad week at work so taking her out for a ride to cheer her up and then treat her . Would ahve brought her but she’s a bit too much of a novice for it to be honest

I think I’m a lot more bullish on here than I a in real life. Perhaps it’s because we’re on the net, but I’m normally quite quiet and talk a lot of sh*t [the latter I obvisouly do on here too]

Really sorry to hear this. It’s not easy lettng go but there comes a time when you have to ask yourself if you’re holding on for the dogs life or just to keep yourself happy witht he company. It is like having a child / best friend and don’t care what anybody else thinks on this matter. When growing up we always had a pair of sheepdogs and they all but one went at an old age and had lived life to the full. Moss who was my dog and not the family [well Dad paid the bills] had a twisted gut and after some huge vet bills trying to put him right it ended up being that he had to be put down after such a short life. it was pure robbery. This one was definately the hardest but the others, knowing that I was able to spend in excess of ten years with each of them, they’re life meant something but I would rather put them out of their misery than every let them be sad.

I wish you and your family all the best of luck with whatever your decision would be

There’s one in the pipeline that’s basically goign to be a small city in a skyscraper. WIll have hospitals, schools, homes and work places. Craxy stuff really considering people in this country have problems getting planning application for simple extensions etc

Get some decent degreaser from a motor factors [use comman if they have it, stay away from Gunk] then use a brush and work it in o dissolve the oil making it asier to wash away. Put a hose on the engine but cover all electrical item [fuse boxes, alternator, battery etc] that should clean it down quite nicely. Alternatively ohone a valetor and they will professionally steam clean it for about £20-30 notes

I wanted the san andreas unilt I rode one and then realised pedalling a metre between rest stops was taking the mickey!

Were any of you at the bike, think it was 99 when peaty snapped his STS while flat landing off the top of a lorry.

Dez – if I get the chance I still want an endorphin!

It’s actually relieving to find so many bonebags like me who suffer from burnout while riding. I’ve been a thryoxine dependant for past 4 years and only eally noticed it then and never in my youth so put it down to the medication. ANyway, where’s that pasty….

Glow plugs or battery in this weather. Go to kwik fit and get them to test the battery [free]but by sounds of it it’s fine. 15k on glowplugs could mean that they’ve gone and to be honest it wouldn’t surprise me. Glowplugs are known to go after 3000m, halfrauds ones and beru are especially bad. Got Bosch in mine now and are doing well even at -8 where last year it was struggling around freezing. Honkie, if it’s a faulty inector then it would smoke on start up

Iw as baout to say search for my previous topic but that would be long gone. For a ss bike a geared trainer would be better for variable resistance where as with a geared bike you can change resistance on the bike. I’m buying a cyclops mag for about £80, it’s older brother the mag plus is a few quid more but has a remote control that you cna put on the handlebar.

I’ve still not worked out this gel rollers and whether or not they are better but loads of people advised on a magnetic roller with a Conti trainer tyre [£20]

Finished uni 5 years ago [that has only just dawned on me – someone get me a snakebite and black]. Think I’ve been lucky with my experience so far. Find it quite exciting/fun but some mates are experiencing the opposite. Was rubbish at uni, not great at the whole drunken learning thing

About to go tubeless on the rear so i can run slightly lower pressures. Bit worried but the pro’s and con’s are all 50/50 so going to bite the bullet and just see how I find it

Andrew, your lbs should be able to do this for you for pennies. Certini in Saltash usd to charge about a tenner. Atleast getting someone else to do it alleviates the possiblity of you damaging the forks further and at greater expense possibly

Did you not get to see your xray or get a copy of it? Fingers crossed for you though that all is fine. Symptoms sound a lot like a colleague who had flu and then caught pneumonia.

Only just found out about this STW orgy. How many people are actually thinking of going in total – about a couple of dozen? In the second part f the day are you just staying out as long as the light last or are you gearing up for some light and motion action?

Is that any good? Always thought the areas around there were pretty flat – been to New Forest a few times but that’s it. Think will be in Queen Liz near Pompey tomorrow but wouldn’t mind meeting up in the future if you’re willing to show me around?

I’m getting a few more spam emails but that’s why I have a hotmail account for this kind of stuff and don’t use a work one etc or one I use for all my purchases etc. Just need to deidcate them to junk and then they all go over there.

Can’t say I’m bothered though, could be worse but glad got STW back
