I listen to my music while riding on my own whether it's on the road or not. Most cycling accidents are from drivers who don't pay attention. I always drive in the cycle lanes and last time I was out on the road a car drifted into the cycle lane so I thumped the window to which the bloke went mental at me. How does cycling with headphones differ from driving the car with the tunes blaring?? Depending on the circumstances you soetimes can't hear anything while riding anyway especially if going downhill. Doing 30mph on a bike means that the wind in my ears measn I don't hear much in the way of traffic. How about some of these new eco cars that are quieter than a sowing machine and creep up on you. Surely it comes down to being paying attanetion to your surroundings.

I can't think of anyone close that I've lost. Come across a couple of people who've committed suicide by gassing themselves in Brechfa forest in the past

No it's not legal. But if she had been behind for uite a while and not paid then more than likely in breach of contract. Landlord would have had to send a notification letter of eviction before doing that otherwsie he was trespassing. I agree with Uplinks last statement

It started raining as soon as I got the bike off the back of the car and stopped after I bought the bike back into the workshop. Totally soaked!

I got woken up this morning at half three because the rain n my bedroom window sounded like people knocking… which would have been possible if my bedroom was on the ground floor. Looked out and it was tipping it down. Woke up this morning and the tarmac area I park my car is covered in surface ater from the roads. Is it going to stop me from going out on the SDW in a mintue… no

A lot of people have said that the Vision 1 is a good unit but all have also said that they also use a helmet light too.

I had found Deal Extreme yesterday having looked at CandlePowerFOrums but I didn't notice the example you showed there probably as I was looking for removable betery ones. They do seem to be very well priced and their units get a review most of the time. I presume that you have this particular unit and that you're happy with it? I presume there's no problems with charging, I know last time I was in the states I was trying to use UK electrics and because of the voltage difference 4 batteries took 5 hours longer to charge. I would say it would be the opposite here but want to check [although the American ipods had no problems].

For a cheaper price that deal extreme one looks a good option I must admit.

My mrs has been late by up to 3.5weeks when she was stressed and generally under the weather. We had a test done and it was all clear. She didn't have the sickness though so wold definately get a test done to make sure. Either way best of luck

Went out last week in the mud and will be doing the same tomorrow. It's fun up to the point when you look at your speedo/trip and see that a regular ride has just taken a hell of a lot longer as you've just spent ages wheelspinning everywhere

FD60 is 54mm, FD30 is 44mm, standard is 35mm, medium weight standard = 40mm. Others are available at a premium

Back up and don't confuse the man. All this talk about FD60 doors and intumescent strips. He's doing a terraced house so worst it would even be is an FD20 [so FD30]and as it'a single family occupancy he doesn't need intumescent strips.

The fire officer shouldn't add any additional requirements to fire doors other than those already noted in the ADs. The need for intumescent seals on a lot of doors ie Premdor and Jeld-Wen are because in the small print they are not deemed fire resistaive unless with fitted with the approriate seals.

I agree with Flatfish that he should install what he wants. A 35/40mm standard door will do fine. If you want better acoustics then put in a set of batwing seals or something as that will be better and cheaper.

I have a job and I works 40 hour week. Don't get time to get out in the evenings really so am a bit of a wekend warrior. My bro in law frustrates me as he works for the council and works flexy… a 3 hour lunch time spent on the Gorlech trails is enough to make you sick

The second of the fixings.. don't use the expanding steel ones. They will go into the nasonary but won't expand where the plasteroard is. they're meant for this purpose so the create a neat fixing and don't damage the facework

2000mm around boundary and 1200mm to front of property. The trellis isn't there just to grow plant up. We tend to spec up fence nowadays that include trellis as it doesn't create that antisocial and oppresive feeling that you get witha solid fence. On lower fence it also helps to allow the wind to apss through whilst also create the affcet of a better boundary.

It's quite easy. I did one and and really took my time with it. Managed to do the rest quite quickly then. Hve a gander at this. Will be in carmathen/Lampeter in a few weeks but I'm sure someone else lives locallly and could give you a hand sooner

He's got dot and dab by the sound of it so may not have enough space for self expanding plasterbaord fixings.

If your blockwork is only 20mm behind the plasterboard then I would use the long wall plugs. I can't find quite the right ones but they look like this , They will cope with the weight but make sure you get over 50mm penetration. If you go with expanding bolts you hae to be careful witht the tension. If you have 7N blocks you and don't drill far anough in then you're more than likely going to ping the face of the block off instead.

Studs are good. YOu can't wear them with most overshoes though if you're into that. Your best bet is to get two sizes [long and short] from a sport hop that sells them individually. You'll find that on muddy banks in this weather they will be awesome and will provide the grip that n normal soles can cope with.

I went out today for the first time in 5 months due to ill health other things going on. Managed to put a few miles under my belt in attempt to regain some fitness. Even got the antlers out when I saw other riders in front of me. Bloody horribly gloopy round here though and some new trail rivers have appeared

    Hi Pete,

I've not read all 27 pages fully yet but am working on it. Just wanted to say good on you for getting out on your bike. Having gone through cancer treatments for thyroid cancer I can definately say that getting out on a bike helped with the recovery process. That together with amazing help from family, friends and colleagues. I don't know whether saying normal is the right way to put it but the bike can help forget your worries and take you to that place where any problem can be pushed to the back of your mind. The only sad thing about the riding is that my local bike shop at the time down in Devon was lending me some top of the range demo bikes to ride during recovery. Was just a pain when I had to return to my rubbish hardtail. Anyway, going to get back to reading posts. I'm only in Portsmouth so if ever you need riding company then drop me a line.

    All the best

I used to get this badly on my old rear wheel and tyre. I had a presta valvle in a schrader hole allowing the valve to go at a funny angle. Put in some french chalk/talc and also had a reducer so that the valve was a tighter fit. Didn't ahve the problems after that. I still ahve soem slight slippage with my Bonty ACX tyre on my 717 rim but hasn't ripped a valve off yet but the beading is quite loose around the rim itself.
Is the inner tube size compatable with the tyre? Have you also hceked the pressures?

The frame is fine but comes down to choice of headset, wheels and forks. I ahd an avalanche and put it through it's paces although it's a bit of a farm gate and didn't have the same feel of my dh bike when dropping 3-4ft north shore!!!!

the superstar ones get good reviews. Organic are good for grip but sintered are almost as good but last a hell of a lot longer. I order hope ones rather than fibrax or other cheap alternatiives. Never have problems.

Got E4s on the xc bike and running the same sintered pads for two years. Don't have much in the way of sand where I ride but the worst experience was an 8 hour stretch with the M4s on my dh bike in wet gritty conditions.
