fish sauce, lime juice, sweet chilli sauce, coriander, red chilli [deseeded] grated ginger – pan fry some chicken strips and toss it into the mix. Then add the noodles, also lovely if you change the noodles for salad. Chops some roasted cashews and sprinkle over the top… yum!

    Hungry now.

Oh and going on from Soulriders email I had my dose upped a year ago whihc brought me out of that stage for a few months but now right back into it.

CG – that’s interesting that you feel that way. Are you on quite a high dose? I eat a well balanced diet but after an hour of riding I can really flag where as pre-op I could go all day quite easily. Also if I don’t eat regularly I have the same affects as being hypoglycaemic but my sugar levels are apparently OK. When you say you go around in a fog do you mean it’s a bit like being spaced out/not quite yourself?

Thanks for that. I’ve looked at the Gillette Superspeeds on eBay although there were a lot of red tips on there which are aggressive apparently (still have to work out what the mild and aggressive terms mean!). I would trust a complex razor of that era more as they were built to last ba k then but nowadays the quality isn’t as high which is why I’m hesitant over a £15 complicated design where a simple £20 razor may provide a much better shave.

Chewkw – I have been pointed in the direction of The Timor because of value for money but I’m put off by the complicated butterfly action. Any thoughts?

Still tempted by the Muhle you mentioned above but realise this is all coming down to personal experiences and I may have to do a bit of trial an error with razors as well as blades. Got a very sensitive face and don’t want to go through the whole shaving rash mallarchy again but don’t want to spend £20 for 8 Gillette Fusion blades ever again!

Tissues and plenty of. I’ve been to a fair few funerals and only held back the tears at one. As far as what you wear that’s a personal choice but for the elder generation it’s generally a black affair and for the younger generations a coloured tie or even your normal clothes!. As long as youre there with your wife that’s the important thing. You’re there to say your goodbyes and I’m sure she wouldn’t want you to feel awkward in anyway. Best of luck

Thanks Chewkw for the advise. Will try a sample pack similar to those found by Freddyg. Been looking on ebay at razors and have seen a Parker 90R which appears to have a decent length handle as opposed to some of the others whihc appear quite short

I came on looking for peoples thoughts on electric razors [as Fusion blades are extorionate!] as I thought there were a few and found this. Already shave with a brush etc but never knew how highly rated these were, explains why my Dad has used his for the last 20 years. WIll try a cheap one from Boots first I think

Mumps? Lost a stone and a half in five days and only gained half a stone since then!!

A friend is going to go to British Military Fitness and that’s meant to be good. Mrs has done something similar with a special diet.

I was doing 40 on the motorway a little while back as I couldn’t see! It’s horrendous here. I’m not a fair weather rider but tonights weather has been the worst I’ve seen in a long while. Can’t wait until we start having the winter freezes

1997 Beast… an awesome bike capable of much more than just Brechfa!

Course it’s do-able on an 80mm full sus. I do it on a 80mm HT and my brother in law does it on 100mm albeit twice the speed of me.

I had that Thomas one at the age of 4 apparently but can’t guarantee my old mans memory on that! Think I was left unsupervised when playing with it but just had help setting out the board as it was 4×6′! Just dont warn him not to lick his fingers and touch both the lines

Hotheads – sorry to be cheeky but it sounds like you’ve been doing a fair bit of research on these products etc. Where have you found the best deals on the P7 and Ultrafire? If you don’t mind sharing that is.

I was expecting loads of responses to this!!

I passed at the age of 23 or 24… Can’t quite remember which is worrying but insurance was stupid on a lot of cars but I knew I wasn’t paying 2k for a 1l fiesta. I opted for a 2l 306 dturbo which gave me 100bhp and 1k insurance tpft and an excess of 150 with tesco. I paid a grand for my 306 and only sold it a year ago as it was a reliable car that was cheap to run and maintain.

My friend on the other hand bought a horrendous Nissan primers gt and pauses same as me in insurance presumably as it’s a bit of a grandad car and he lived outside of the city

£1k per m² is standard. Depends what you put in the extension, how it affect original building [new boiler if required, bathroom etc] and ground conditions so it will fluctuate but gives a starting point. Doing one at the moment and it’s working out at about 30k for same kind of area

You pay planning which is the right to build and then building regs which proves that it can be built

1500 for both is about right. Best bet is to get a technician to do it though. If it’s a straight forward extension look to pay about 400-500. Another benefit of using a technician is that he may h e engineer contacts who can get that price down!! Just had one do some work for me for a ton.

Definitely do the epic at the end of the month. Storrington I think. Don’t know whether to do the epic or standard in a few weeks though

Oh god not this topic again. Roads I’ll have one ear in off road I’ll have both in. I’ve had a burst ear drum for the past month so presume, as I have a constant sea shell sound in my ea,r that I shouldn’t ride either as I can’t hear any better than with headphones?

Not sure why headphones have an affect on your vision though? Seen a few accidents involving cyclists in Pompey and soton in the past few month

So I can come on here and moan like Victor Meldrew.

Love just getting out in the fresh air and having some fun relieving stress. Not ridden locally with anyone else other than races in about a year but love going back to Wales for the bi-annual ride with my brother in law having a catch up, laugh, egging each other on and just pushing each other…

Always supported them as it’s a local company but they don’t have the stock they sued to or the variety and CRC and others have been taking preference. This is the first year I’ve not been a gold or platinum customer. Also was a bit ticked off with emails saying that everyone gets platinum discounts for a certain period only to find that the discounts are exactly the same as a few weeks previously. That said whenever I ahve bought anything I have always been very pleased with delivery and aftersales. Mrs went for an interview there too and said those she meant were awesome.

Hi GP, I ride the South Downs and surrounding areas too and had the mud-x up front last year and it was awesome. Changed it to a fire xc pro over the summer and still got it on. I’m finding it just as grippy but think the mud-x will outperform the fire xc when it comes to real claggy stuff.

Sorry to digress aain from my original topic but I’ve been looking at a whole load of diy bike light topics and web pages which seem relatively straightforward to do but my problem is I don’t know jack about what led to buckpuck to battery pack. Can anyone point me in the direction of a breakdown or idiots guide on how you work out what should be paired. I’m quite liking the race day nutrition bike light but with no knowledge of the above I know I won’t know what to look for properly etc. Any help would be most appreciated

You need Beet It [beetroot juice]. It’s been better for me than any other energy drink I’ve tried in terms of not cramping up during the ride and also in the recovery period.

Queen Liz / South Downs was heaving with cyclists and that’s not including the road race that was on near there too. Took the mrs out for an offroad excursion… it was as daunting as teaching her to drive!

When I was young was on a 60mile ride with a mate mid winter. Got half way and it starting pelting down with frozen rail ten I got soaked as my waterproof jacket wasn't waterproof. Distance, weather and fitness just really got to me and really struggled then. Did the dyfi two years ago having been off the bike for 6 months and before then was doing some light riding in Hampshire… I got back to folks house passed out, couldn't drive home for 24hours!

Personally I would go for THIS and a short cage mech. Ideal set up and doesn't break the bank

If I said something along those lines to my Dad whose at the tender age of 65 and a regular rider of all the trails in Brechfa [proper and man-made ones] and surrounding areas he would would probably say something along the lines of 'what age do you give up living' or just give me a clip around the ear.

Ah right. I've been looking at that one for ages. Going to order the top one as a helmet mount. Looked at the previous forum topic and they have compared it with a 1w version…hopefully it is a 5w as stated otherwsie will ask for my money back!! May get the Stephen Cycles one if the hong kong special doesn't perform.

I've not been up in ages. Cinnamon girl said it was getting really boggy last time I thought about it which was ages ago!
