Out of interest do you have 1/4 of a tank or less when this happens or does it happen whenever?

It irritates me when I have to spend time queuing in or out of somewhere. Went to wittering beach and avoided 8miles of queue by taking back roads but I just thought why do people spend ages trying to get to a big parking area and pay £5 for the privilege when there’s a perfectly good cheap car park an extra 5-10minutes walk away. Grr

Suntour which I think are French were on the up last year in terms of main components. Mbr did a review and they scored fairly well for a newbie. you’ll have a warranty so I your having trouble finiding s/h forks why not go for it.

I’ve moved them about after they’ve be mown over and left to rot down a little bit leaving just the bulb. Don’t see any problem with replanting providing they’re left upright.

Deadlydarcy – is that true or are you on the wind up?! Mine have never changed

My old man is 67 and is doing the Brechfa trails regularly and also Doethie valley. John Lloyd must be pushing 70 if not more and whoops the young whipper snappers on the race course. I don’t think age has an affect until it no longer becomes enjoyable.

I used to quite like the chainring print on the right calf but not sure if that’s cheesy

Thanks for the replies guys. Muffin man – hadn’t tried Evans typically. Think I’ll go down the adapter route and use a proper stem. Need to ride the bike first to see how I get on with the existing length.

Jimc101 – it’s currently 7speed and I want to put 8 or 9 speed on eventually. If not possible then it’s not the end o the world

I loved my switchblade as a normal lid. Gave it to a kid that kept riding with no helment in the end

I had a hippo bag to get rid of a load of shingle. The hippo bag is good and from memory I don’t hthink you need a license if you put it on the road edge like you do with a skip. Not seen any break yet but was a little nervous given teh proxmity to some cars. You could get chanrged for overloading but then you can do with a skip anyway.

Also it’s a 16speed so am I correct in presuming it’s the same as a mtb and a 9speed cassette will fit on the same freehub body

I agree with that. My mrs dOesnt do anything. She likes the occasional ride but doesn’t have a hobby as such. If age had something to do other than housework then she would probably let me ride some more

In my racing days I was teetotal and can’t say I noticed a difference. My brother in law last year was teetotal and did well at races. This year he is training less and drinking and even as far to say he would have a Guinness or two before a race day and he says his times have improved. I think it depends on the individual and how much you drink

Edit. I find diet choice a bigger issue than drink.

I was told that riding a bike 6 evenings a week after work wasn’t on and I came to a compromise to two night a week. My previous mrs didn’t have a choice and I told her that but I care for my current one too much to say something like that. Happy riding!!

When I was a student I bought 1 bike a term time but since leaving uni i don’t get such pleasures. Look around for 0% deals like Hargroves etc or get a credit card and be savvy with it. My frame is relatively new but my wheels, forks and brakes need replacing. I can do 0% with my local shop although will probably use my credit card for an online retailer as it’s cheaper

Is there more skill involved?! Nah! I don’t think so, it just makes it a bit harsher, surely u can appreciate that in the long run hardtail frames crack, because of the stress there under, its just common sense really

I used to ride a lot of dh on both hardtail and full bounce and you can learn a lot from both types. Most people I see on full bouncers have it for comfort but also because they’re lazy riders and use the suspension as an excuse to avoid picking out riding lines. Using a hardtail made me to choose the smoothest lines, pop off roots and stones etc and I think made me a better rider. Your statement about stresses on frames can happen to any bike but it comes down to the way it’s ridden

I’m working my way through the peugeot family at the moment. You thought about a 205 GTI instead? Excluding the general peugeot bugs like leaks and electrical faults the only real issue I have is the pedal sizes – fine driving in work shoes or skinny trainers but boots and skate shoes are out. A fun drive though. For value for money though there was no beating my 306 as you could alter the boost for a little extra power with not much difference in consumption.

I cant really be arsed with the gym either so I’m ona pay as you go system at the moment at my local college for £2 a go. I’ve got a couple of pairs of dumbbells kicking around at home and also I have a chin up bar and some stretch tubes too. A stability ball is also pretty good but it does take up a lot of room. My latest addition is a punch bag although I’ve fixed it outside and the two times I’ve tried using it the neighbour has peered over wondering who the skinny pale guy is getting beaten up by a punch bag!

Just seen the symptoms – fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, aching muscles etc. That’s me most days!

Other than the bullseye mark how and above how would you know you had it? I got bitten last year for first time since I was a nipper and wouldn’t know any different

I’m afraid I’m sometimes a ride around rider. There were many areas hit hard by wet weather over the winter this year andt he chalky/gloopy main parts of the tracks have just been horrendous to ride through so you end up going around. I don’t like seeing badly corroded trails but if they get so bad they should be maintained or closed until better weather – designated dependant.

Elfin – do you live near Winchester?
