Spent this morning travelling from Portsmouth to west Wales. Off shortly for a family meal which I don’t have to pay for so I may as well indulge in a few bottles of vino and a nice bit of fillet! Want to avoid a hangover tomorrow if possible! My mrs also likes picking me up when I’m drunk, she thinks I’m hilarious. When the boot is on the other foot she’s just hard work!

It’s my yahoo which has a better filter than my hotmail but apparently a long lost relative in Zimbabwe managed to get hold of me to inform me of that I’ve inherited some money so somehow don’t trust the filters.

if you cut small sections out of the tree then you could be making the FC lose out on revenue. Typically the trees would be cut to certain lengths depending what the end purpose would be ie furniture, paper mill etc. Small bits that didn’t fit the criteria would get left in the trash piles.

PS wouldn’t reccommend it now. We had permission a few years ago about this time to collect some offcuts for firewood etc. Some local called the police and reported we were nicking loads of Christams trees, had helicopters and 4x4s come and find us!

I’ve got the Senybors you mention, got them from a UK seller and they seem fine.

Either it’s cut the plaster out or put a layer of plywood over the wall so that it spans between 2 studs. You’ll need to decorate that but you would hae to decorate something anyway as you won’t get a fixing directly into the lathe

I won’t lie, I’m pretty impressed but it’s not exactly a race course now is it. Would love a track like that in the upper man cave

a mate loves his quick cars and bought one but decided it wasn’t that great so chopped it in for a Z4 m series which he disliked equally as much. He’s now got a 911 which he loves and he said you can’t compare a boxster with a 911. He’s a bit of a posh tw..

He said it was the most expensive to keep going

Rare as rocking horse poo it would seems. I fancy either the Canyon 29er or Cube 29er as both of them have equally balanced pros and cons. I came across a few reviews after eurobike and I’m sure it was on twentynineinches.com or somewhere. Got rave reviews but as most people on here have said it’s the sizie that you need to be careful of hence why I’m waiting for my lcoal shop to get cube in so I can gauge my size on tehre and relate that to the Canyon.

Lunge, you down south by any chance? A guy in the office is having exactly the same debate over those two bikes but I prefer the Cube from Hargroves. Having spoken to several shops the price they give for the bike will be that price but the best they have been able to do it throw in some accessories. I’m not sold on the whole fitting service for my level of riding but know what works for me in temrs of frame sizing. I don’t really want the hassle of paying extra for a new stem, spacers, post, saddle etc to get it to fit me aboslutely perfect… but I’m just tight.

Police were using these in Wales ages ago so surprised it’s only just caught on elsewhere. I think that the police will be ‘able’ to patrol these areas with flashing lights just as they can in cars don’t think you’ll be seeign them just tootling along a footpath or bridleway for the sakes of being seen as a ‘booby on the beat’

If you wear a camelbak, there’s not much drawback to having a helmet light that’s wired in… And the head units are much lighter than a torch.

Fully agree, also with the longer length of the toch it does tend to make your helmet bob unless you do up with helmet-loc reasonably tight which tends to give me a headache.

I’ve got a torch on my helmet at the moment – Ultrafire WF502B and I’m just swapping over my XML-T6 [spot] from the bars to my lid as a trial [so single light set up]. The torch is really good when riding on your own but when riding with another who has two P7s I’m noticing a difference in light quality and speed of riding [as in I’m slow if not on his wheel]. The torch just isn’t bright enough for the decents when you’re getting some speed in. You may be OK with your P7 as it is [presuming here] more of a flood but my bar mounted XML doesn’t shed enough light over the trails when you’re starting to look around the corners.

In terms of the light itself it has a very good spot from an R5 led and powered by some Senybor 2800mAh batteries. Getting over an hour from the battery – done 1hr20 and it’s not run out although been toggling max and medium although had at least 45mins on max. It’s a good little torch but I only paid £12 in the UK but a week later I found a deal on ebay with an XML-T6 led for not much more so I would recommend that one in terms of a better performance.

Got it on too. The Mrs was excited about it and I won’t lie to you I was excited about Jessica Jane although think a repeat of the Mylene Class shower scene may be a bit early to wish for.

I run 2×9 although I’ve just put a 8year old granny ring on again for the winter. I think I’ve used it about 3 times during that time so think that’s pretty cost effective. Just measured the chain and it’s not quite 25.5mm for 10links but I’m going to order a wear indicator anyway just to double check but think my chain could do with replacing now. If it slips then it will just reinforce my mind more to buy a new bike over the next couple of months rather than next summer[ancient forks, brakes & wheels].

Fibre – I don’t think the chain is worn because it doesn’t slip at all even in the mud. It was replaced at some point last year [middle ring, cassette & chain] BUT I noticed yesterday that the top of my outer ring which hasn’t been changed for some years is a bit like a ninja’s throwing star. I wouldn’t habe thought it was an issue if it wasn’t for this. MIddle rings is still pretty perfect it’s just the outer, had some concerns that maybe it’s had an affect on the rst of the drive although unnlikely given the amount of time spent in that ring in comparison with the middle.

Sorry to dig this up again, just looking at whether or not my chain needs replacing although don’t feel I’ve done the mileage yet. I use a ruler but was looking at getting a tool. Bought a Park CC3.2 for my old man which I think is adequate but is it worth the extra for a Park CC-2?

Use Firefox at home and work but I’ve had to put in extra memory at work to cope with it although not as bad as I don’t keep STW on all day at the moment! Been tempted by chrome but explorer constantly crashes for me

Boxers or pj bottoms in winter. I have two cats who think they can crawl under the duvet in deepest darkest winter. No matter whether they’re there for 2s or 2hrs before being booted out it’s all kinds of wrong especially if I’m in the birthday suit.

Just a quick check as well, I’m removing the bottom bracket with the intention of just putting in a cartridge b/b instead. There’s no problem with that is there?
