Christmas Eve has now evolved into a regular visit to my friends parents house with their son & daughter and respective partners. They love flling your glass as soon as it becomes half full so you never have any idea how much you drunk until you wake up Xmas Day at 3 in the afternoon. Not bothered about NYE, far too expensive to go out and possiblly may have people over for a bit of a shindig or go elsewhere… providing it doesn’t snow.

With one of those funny “only let me in” collars (if you can get one on said Mog of course), then if you find it comes back without said collar you’ll know it’s got another family closeby..

One of those funny collars that the cat loses and then gets stuck outside in the cold winter!

You not got a family or someone that could feed it? Can you puit a cat flap into a shed door if you don’t want to do it into the hosue? We took our to the cattery once but it cost quite a bit and he hated us when we got him back. Now leave them to the run of the house with the cat flap and we have someone come and feed them morning and night

If you’re in Bristol I have a mate who lives there and may be able to do some stuff for you. Went to uni with him and he works for a big practice. May be able to hook you up if you want

I’m useless. When I didn’t have any goals I was riding the road bike 2-3 times a week and on the mountain bike for 30-40miles or road bike for 60miles on a Sunday. Now that I ahve set my eyes on doing a solo MM and SDWD I’m useless. Barely done any riding since that or at least since the great south run which was a month ago. Done more casual drinking at home in the last month too which is a bit more of a concern. Love night riding too so don’t know what’s wrong with me….. miserable git syndrome I reckon

If it’s in town then yes even more so if they wear dark clothing too. I bumped into someone a few weeks ago on a road bike out the back and his lights had died… had him tail me for a while until he got under some street lighting

You can book when you’re here or there. It doesn’t really matter, I’ve sent you an email on prices etc. If you get the concierge to call them they will come and visit you. If you don’t have a snorkel and goggles then ask Tim and Janet to bring some – they only cost 50E which is better than the 100E you would pay in Sharm instead or the 150-200E you may in the hotel. Just make sure you take a first aid kit with some bare essentials just in case.

If you want something arty why not get him to do up to the sketch schemes so you get a good idae of what you want. The get someone from an architects office who does work on the side to complete the package. You would a save quite a bit and the risks are minimal if you have a structural engineer sorting out that side of things

When he says 3d sketches is it just sketch up? Sounds like it for the price. £1600 sounds fair from an architects practic but the pricing sounds a bit off. The only thing that surprises me is that the planning app fees are so much more than the proposals stage which is where the time will be spent. Are dispersements included within that?

Go to Sharm it’s awesome. We went a little while back and were told its better than Hurghada. We stayed in the Stella di and it’s own coral was awesome. We also went out to Tiran Island on an organised event and did some snorkelling there and found that the fish in our cove were just as good if not perhaps better. Saw a ray, eeland barracuda in the first few days as well as the other fish. There were a fair few with kids there too. We also booked some stuff with Sinai SAfari Adventure and Tim and Janet who sort out a load of excursions help you loads without pressure of buying stuff. They advised us on where to eat in town etc as we didn’t bother with the all inclusive as I wan’t going to drink 20pints a day etc etc.

I only hate the preparation work. Love painting. Wouldn’t ever farm it out to others though as far too tight to pay out!

I’;ve got the KCNC grips above but you need to take some fine sandpaper to them before first use. As an alterive try ESI grips from Clee Cycles. Quite expensive at £15 notes but the chunky silicone grips are nice

I think some of it is justified. I would have got pretty sh**ty at the taxi man who said stick in the taxi lane but I think some occasions you don’t know whether he was signalling etc so you have to give the benefit if the doubt to the driver as well. Got shouted at by a cyclist last night who couldn’t signal and I nearly knocked him off.

usually just screwed/bolted one, just see if it’s ripped off at the bolt holes. If not it can slide into part of the chassis before being bolted and secured. It protects the engine and as said above may aid engine cooling although I don’t believe it channels any air on the cars I’ve had… it’s just collect a lot of crap on the engine side

Easier said than done with the dogs as said. We’ve had several well trained dogs over the years and there are occasional mishaps.

A test ride???? You should try being 6’4″ and needing XL size bikes. Most shops won’t even get one in for you to sit on let alone ride it.

My colleague is having that issue. Hargroves and Pedalon have beent eh most accommodating so far.

People buy beds by lying on them pencil-straight & fully clothed. I’ve never known anyone borrow one to test for a nights sleep & sex with the wife.

If I didn’t have a comfy night sleep then I could take it back up to 6 months later. A lot of mattress shops have that policy and some even advertise it!

Cycle Surgery don’t let you ride either unless you hand over your credit card details first. Can understand why, wouldn’t want any local scoats doing a runner with a bike if I owned a shop.

None of the magazines are particularly great reading nowadays. They used to be much better. There are some really good articles in each magazine but then there is also some right crap too.

Frontline/Advocate & worming tablets are both a necessity. Get it microchipped etc for safety if you’re taking ownership as Petlog will look after you. Insurance – wish I put £8pcm into savings instead givent he lack of illnesses to date. Remember insuaracne will go up as they go above 4years old anyway so may be worth considering savings instead.

Summer 1993 or 1994 bought half a secondhand bike from Fred baker cycles in Brizzle and first ride was in Coombe Dingle (I think). My local shop cyclemart had not long moved from their first shop to another larger place and I got friendly with those guys who in turn ‘made’ me try a race which I sucked at! A year or so later I bought a secondhand Marin Rocky Ridgeoff the mechanic coated in xt/xtr trickery and some manitou twos and that’s when racing and riding got serious for me

Most of mine is solo, my riding buddy moved away over a year ago and been on a handful of rides with other people since but that’s it. Can go at my own pace. Quite like riding in social rides though and meeting new people
