I chuck mine in the hedgerow and off the path. Keep it if its in a built up area, park etc

Mine was doing this. Struggling badly especially on a cold morning. Changed the battery to a much better one and it seems to have sorted it. Also put in some injector cleaner which may or may not have contributed

I have suspension lube spray by Fenwicks, think it helps a little, better than oil as it doesn’t attract muck

Last time I bought Cane Creek bearings it was cheaper to a new headset from CRC and swap bearings that way

I drink it before an event and don’t bother with taking it for a prolonged time. I go for the Beet It shot and chill it so it’s palatable. Not sure if it works but definately distracts other riders when you spit and they think you’re coughing up blood

I would second what Paul has suggested. Don’t know much about Scottish Building Regulations but England and Wales still have to prove building performances through the use of SAPs. Big windows of poor u-value would mean the walls need to be beefed up to compensate. If you’re going for Passivhaus then this is a necessity which any architect should be fully aware of but even with a standard approach it should be second nature.

I currently have normal on a new bike but really miss RR. Should be industry standard

Staveomuller – it is known as one of the best events for a reason.

Was out and about earlier but brother in law booked me in. Could do with another mug. I’m very excited but apprehensive. I think it was a fluke that my bike survived last year

Going 2×10 doesn’t make a bit of difference to shifting. Unless you plan on bashing into rocks then dont bother with a bash guard. How long in inches are 12 chain links? Measure in inches so will be 12″ or just over. Presumably rear mech is ok? Just replaced my rear mech as the spring was shot and there was play in it. Caused ghost shifting in the lower gears but not the uppers. Perhaps something with the spring load I’m not sure. Is your mech hanger straight? Cable lubed and tight etc?

After 2 months of road riding I dusted off the Epic and went for a 25m blast around Kingley Vale. Few slippery bits but good fast fun

You want to look / ask about detailing ie how they insulate window reveals etc. Bugger all point insulating the facade if that detail is neglected. Also want to make sure its not too thick that stops window / trickle vent function. Any surface mounted cabling.

No they can’t do that. Can seek advice from CAB or specialists on this. What is in her contract though?

There’s a lot of sense in what Alaric said. I went to go down that route and bought a half decent frame. A guy I use I know in Plymouth used to restring rackets and said that most original rackets at the cheaper end were really crap and just restringing the would make a massive difference to the game. He did a mates racket for free and said that he only had to pay if he found it better. He paid the next day.

DaveG – where do you play? You part o a squash club? Everywhere around here is so expensive for non-members

Browning Racquets are ace, I bought one off amazon and love it. The ones at sports direct are good but the strings aren’t the best unless you pay a bit more. The pure nylon ones will stretch and become knackered within a short time

It’s depend on price Jon. If it’s got FSH and receipts then see what was done. Look at when the cam belt/chain is next due. Try and find out who owned it previously ie was it a fleet car, they’re serviced regularly and are normally well looked after.

I like the elixirs. Like the 5’s there’s a knack to bleeding but once you’ve got it you’re sorted. Only problem I have encountered is pushing cylinders right back when changing pads

Osram Nightbreakers are really good. Shame you’re not near Portsmouth, got a few H4 bulbs from my old 306 that are just sitting there

So it was advertised off here and then sold on?

The Classified Forum is not a place where users can trade parts bought elsewhere and then sold at a profit.

Says bought elsewhere and sold at profit. So the rules don’t state that items bought off the forum can’t be sold for a profit… minor details I know but is he actually breaking the rules?

Kick the front door in, that’s what my neighbour did last year and it ended up in a brawl in the street. As everyone in the street is no doubt awake too you may as well provide some entertainment.

I like the little unit. I basically say its like a Cateye Strada with GPS function. It’s a basic bit of kit but if you want it to tell you how fast your going, measure distance etc and give you the ability to track your performances on the likes of strada, Garmin connect etc then its a good bit of kit. I you want hrm and cadence then its obviously not for you but as you’ve been looking at it I would presume these may not be of interest. The mapping function is great although basic. I mainly use it on the road where I don’t like stopping to look at maps. Use Garmin Connect to create a route which will tell you the ride distance and ride time based on your average speed (input yourself) and then follow the route. It takes a little bit of getting used to and requires some common sense approaches but for £100 its great. Alternatively you could look at the Bryton alternative which comes with HRM for a few pounds more. Garmin just seemed sleeker to me

It’s all well and good mentioning warranties providing the warranty covers those elements.

Personally think the focus diesel (1.8), Mondeo and Octavia engines are fine. Couldn’t agree more with trail rat. I looked after my 306 and it lasted really well. The 206 is awful but I don’t pay as much attention to it

It was the XUD engine yes. Out of interest if the VAG diesels have these issues what about the diesel Skoda Octavia?

    FORD TDCI
    Focus 1.8 TDCI (2001 to 2006)

@Trailrat – How come? I thought the 1.8 had a belt and the 2.0 was a chain? Interested as I’m looking at Focus’ at the moment

I wouldn’t go near one, TBH. Or a VAG diesel. Or anything French.

    @PeterPoddy
    – How come? I’d disagree with VAG and French but perhaps been lucky. My Dad did over 150k in his with no engine issues. I did 100k on my 306 taking it over 180k and it’s still being driven today. Everything else wears but the engines were solid
