you sir, need a long cage mech to take up chain slack.

    Ah! would make sense!

if it was me i`d take off the big ring and set the limit stops on teh mech to avoid overshifting. run a bash if you need a spacer for teh chainring bolts.

How would that work with a 3x Shifter?

that rear mech a long cage? looks like the tensioner screw needs some work – chain still looks a bit long to me too

I believe its a short cage,
I will try the tensioner screw when I return home from work…..Tomorrow afternoon…Meh!

You’ll never use small/small anyway, so if you only use the largest three sprockets you might be ok.

Yeah I figured as much but it’s hardly the ideal set up.

You do know that the ‘big to big’ sizing is done with the chain not running through the rear mech don’t you?

If you do, then what he said about a longer cage mech.

    Yup, all over that.

It would make perfect sense that I need a Long cage rear mech,
However this is not an option for me unless I can get hold of one for free,
That said I’m feeling a front mech is to much faff, I don’t like faff,

I’ve never been strong at setting up gears and I’m feeling I should just MTFU and stick to the 1×9 until I can afford to do otherwise!

Thanks for the input peeps! :D

I’m starting to wish I’d manned up and stuck with 1×9!

Chain shortened, via Park Tools Largest Cog Largest chainring method.
However as you can see when I drop to the small chainring and small cog the chain tension fails miserably,

I never remember such issues prior to 1×9

Don’t tell me I need a bottom chain tensioner?!

Holy cow! Can you only rode when its dry?! That trail King looks like it’s going to rub like crazy in the mud.

As you can see this hasn’t changed much after sitting the mech in its correct place.

    It’s missing a chain.

Chain fell apart when I removed it! Really bendy in the wrong direction bendy!

    Replacement tomorrow!

1×9 has made me lazy at checking on the little things :|

Ps might loo a bit weird being a top banded mech and not a bottom banded. Don’t see that so much nowadays

Only been in the game 4-5 years, 3 of which have been 1×9 so this is new to me!

    modern retro!

    This makes me rather happy!

Cage looks a bit close to the tyre

Yup, really close, Mech not been used before, Limit screws will be adjusted!

What’s the frame? Steel? The chainstay bridge looks quite distinctive, which unfortunately doesn’t help me! A guess would be Cotic or O-O?

    Dialled Bikes Prince Albert

Presumably, you’ve fitted either one or two BB spacers on the drive-side, depending upon your BB shell width of either 73 or 68mm respectively.

73mm I believe, No I haven’t, I did think it looked like it could do with a spacer.

Will get on top of it tomorrow :-)

Massive thanks for the help peeps!

Thanks for replies, Looking into all recommendations,
Has anyone any experience of the Funkier 10’s? Or even the cheaper 7’s?

    £100+ seems silly….

I used to live in Talybont, The Village in which some of his family have or still do reside including his mother,
I can categorically tell I wouldn’t know if I’ve met any of them but chances are I saw them in the shop or the pub and on this basis I can only guess that they are lovely people with a lovely family member in Charles Bronson.

His sentence is harsh and should be let back into society where I’m sure he would lead a normal, stable and non violent life.

1:2 It’s great being off midweek when it’s sunny and the trails are even more quiet, beer gardens empty and bargains can be had in cafes.

    This is very true.

    1.30-4.30,
Would love to do a lap before hand but I’m driving down from Nottingham and I’m short for time already.

What sort of level are we all at?

    Almost anything,
In a constant state of amazement.

I just discovered the winning combination of coffee and doughnuts.

That said, I can often be a miserable fart on the face of it, Far from it

Is it the case that none of the bikes I listed originally are any good?

They’re Okay, Personally would prefer the Giant or Felt
However as has already been said a second hand bike would get you so much more!

Look out for Deore brakes as a minimum.

Can’t help but think that BBC would have done a better job of this opportunity, The Sky at Night team would have been great.

‘Wolf power or spirit animals point to an appetite for freedom and living life powerfully, guided by instincts. When a wolf manifests its presence as a guide in your life, it could be a call to live your life more freely, to bring the intensity of passion in your everyday endeavors.’

Taken from a Spirit animal web page,

I most admit the meeting was a not threatening.

It’s about not having a closed road track outside to accompany the already 90% complete velodrome

This makes this even more bizarre! Why go to the lengths of building a veldrome and not complement it track outdoors?!

I’m all for supporting wildlife but as mt^^ points out, its Derby, not Derbyshire.

it’s about the loss of a velodrome so my apologies to the OP for side tracking his thread.

    Agreed, My apologies too.

Seems such a waste of land, I’m sure there’s way’s they could build the development while encouraging local wildlife,
No vision of living in harmony with other life seems to be across all modern day developments.

    waste money on the tram.

People using phase one don’t seem to grumble,
A short term inconvenience which will have long term benefits for all.

As for Nottingham City throwing more money down the loo, not sure pinching Velodrome plans from Derby would be wasting money.

Or just don’t come if you don’t like it??

    Thats always an option,
I’ve really ever known fast flowing trail centres,
The Peaks was a massive wake up call to me and has made me question everything I thought I knew about my riding,
Its technically harder than most things I’ve ridden but just because it’s harder doesn’t mean it’s not as enjoyable, just means you have to earn your enjoyment a little more.

    In response to the OP,

Couldn’t agree more, I tend to put up with Ads and listen to Absolute until 10.

Needs someone fresh not outright depressing,
His voice is like nails down a chalkboard!

EDIT; Don’t mind a bit of Chris Evans in the morning.

Is that a right of way?

That’s a hell of a shortcut you took, what was it like?

The guy said strictly speaking it was a footpath and bikes weren’t allowed but as a local he’d known it was used,

But it took around mile or two of Bog before we reached the slabs, Once on the slabs it was an easy ride to the top of Jacobs Ladder,

that said I’ve a feeling from what the guy and another guy said is we missed out on a sweet decent down to Hayfield?

All new to me but had an awesome time!

I appreciate all the comments, I will take whats been said on board before my next venture out,
In response to my OP, We managed to get round in about 3 hours however we did make a short-cut, offered to us from a local which got us to the top of Jacobs Ladder much sooner, Many Thanks to that chap

My first ride in the Peaks taught me a few things,
    1. Despite having lived in Wales for the first two years of my mountain biking ventures,
The skill sets I thought I owned were simply a mirage, I am in fact just a small boy with small balls.
    2. I’m rather unfit.
    3. I know how to roll when bailing, something I did many times today (grateful to my orange belt in Mantis style!)
    4. Today my legs ache and my gouche is sore.
    5. I’ll be going back again for more :D

    My strava from the day.
