Can I ask what it is about the UK that you don’t like?

    among many things

Never had the thoughts of running away from problems,
Simply want to look into places that can potentially offer a better way for what suits us,
The UK is no doubt an extremely good place to live but that doesn’t mean to say we can’t find better?!

As far as being a carpenter? Soon to be self employed, working contracts with letting agents,
    Hanging doors, fixing kitchens etc.
Its not building roofs or extensions but it’s certainly experience.

I’ve no doubt this will be my biggest draw back in any application,
Visa versa mrstaco, Loads of experience but no relevant qualifications bar a Law degree.

I’m really convinced that if we do decide to make a move it won’t be for another year or two before we even apply.

We currently have a more right wing government here than you have.

    Swings and roundabouts,
Canada also has a fairly right wing government but it also has some of the most progressive addiction projects.

Have you been reading too much Daily Mail?

Not at all, We both work on front line services and know first hand how budgets are effecting our roles and the people we support.

is it selfless if you require gratitude and recognition to continue?

You got me there! I need a fresh red carpet rolled out each day.
I guess I mean, Can we rely on our government to protect the those roles in question?

First thing is how old are you?

    31 and 30,
I’m pretty certain we’re a couple years older than most places would like.

This will be my second Dyfi, this year I have done little to no training and looking a little out of shape,
I don’t care, I now know what to excpect and will be enjoying myself, rain or shine!
Mrstaco will be helping out at the feed station 2/3rds of the way round.
Got bigger wheels and a dropper post this year too!
No pride this year, pride only hurts, in the shape of an extra climb and a few more km’s!
Not this year, get me to the Beer junction and I’m done!

    Best of luck everyone, Enjoy!

How deep do Gas, Electrics and water lines usually run?

Of course I’ll check before starting any work but I’m only taking out a max of 10″ of which is protruding from the surrounding level, really a case of leveling things out.

I moved into my first house 2 years ago, terrible walls everywhere,
A tight budget forced me down the lining paper route,
When all is finished and done with pictures on the wall, you don’t tend to notice,
If you do a bad job like I’ve done in the bedroom, you’ll notice and it’ll drive you crazy.

If I’d had the money, I would have reskimed the whole house! but I don’t and it’d be at the back of a very long list of things that need doing.

    I have a 2014 model,
Great bike, forks need properly setting up to get the sweet spot,
Bike handles DH really well, climbing can be a little light at the front (which reminds me to adjusting saddle!)

I’m absolutely chuffed with the bike, Canyon are easy to deal with too.

    Do it!

    Question is what colour?!

I have the raw which is similar to the Polished of the 2015 model, Looks better then I expected but I’d personally go for the petrol.

So OP you bought back your 26″ bike?
And your asking who buys 26″ bikes??

Yes, at the time I hadn’t ridden my new variety of sized wheels much,
It was custom built by my own hands,
    I essentially purchased a £2k bike for £60,
I would have bought it back even if it had 10″ wheels!

Don’t worry, I’m keeping the bike!

As this thread lengthens, I’ve come to realize (as has been mentioned) that my OP was actually

“would someone like to buy my bike” type threads

What I’ve done in posting such a thread is convince myself to keep hold of the bike,
I had so much fun on this bike and it seems barmy that I should now not have the same fun simply because I’m getting something else from other sized wheels,
The bike hasn’t changed, I have…. “It’s not you, It’s me” (has anyone had this type of conversation with their bike?)

I still love the bike and with any relationship, there needs to be compromise and effort,
I understand that 26″ isn’t really dead, perceptions differ over time and with new experiences but that doesn’t mean to say that we can’t work,

I’m going to bleed your brakes, replace your cables, I might even service your forks,
by god Albert I might even get you a dropper post!
    Lets give it another go.

I simply asked if I should keep my bike?!

Oh Lordy , sorry, I did bang on a bit !

    Not at all!

I too have struggled to finance my habit, the PA was a evolution of bike parts that I could afford as and when I needed to replace parts.

I’ve no doubt the industry has had it’s part in the 26″ downfall but I’m purely making decisions on what I like riding,
The PA stays, until summer at least!
it deserves my attention on some dry trails, Who knows, I might fall in love again.

Where are all these 26″ bikes going for buttons?

I may know of a lovely Prince Albert going at a fair price

Vitus dee is actually a nice ride, purchased with the idea of putting slicks on but works pretty well around local trails!

I just stuck 650b decals on my 26″ rims and the trails came alive. It was amazing and far from the marginal difference some naysayers would have you believe. Best of all, the new decals only set me back a fiver or so, a lot cheaper than a new frame, fork and wheel-set and with identical results.

Plus I’ve supported the UK decal-printing industry, thus making a small but significant contribution to our thriving economy.

Your insurance company paid out, therefore if its now recovered that particular piece of tripe is not actually yours to do anything with

True but I did the correct thing in letting them know, I purchased the bike back from them.

Thanks for the advice so far, I’m somewhat understanding of circumstance I’m in and why any potential employer would be put off a new graduate!
That said,I’m due to qualify with a Distinction rather than just a Merit or pass,
That has to be proof that I’ve got something about me!

Just found a job last night for a joiner working on Camper vans,
I don’t have a chance to get over there today but I’ll pay them a visit tomorrow morning,
I’ll give them a call later today to get some information,
    Fingers crossed!

Someone on here posted up about volunteer dig days last year

    Hey Hey!

Chatting with a fellow trail builder today,
He mentioned this post so here I am!

Dig days are organized by the Forestry commission, In particular a Ranger named Neil, You can contact him via the Sherwood Pines Facebook page
Dig days are currently on hold for winter, although I suspect that will end soon,
Basically, the more volunteers we have help on a regular basis the more likely we’ll get funding for future and the better the trails will become.

It’s early days but in the time I’ve been helping out I’ve seen positive changes both on and off the trails.

If you do get involved you can learn more about how things are moving forward, put your pennies worth in and feel proud of the work you’ve done,
Honestly, it’s changed how I look at the trails!

If you don’t have facebook, drop into Sherwood Pines info center or the shop and they’ll be able to tell you more!

    Hopefully see you soon!

No doubt it’ll be fixed before I can get back over around Easter, I’d love to get over before then but I rarely have two days off together, so anywhere more then a 4 hour round trip is off the cards!

That said, when I do finally get back, I feel it’s only right you show me, it was you that got me in this mess!

Did it! £15, measured where I needed to cut them to fit over my existing shorts and pads, No stitching, no webbing, As has already been said, gore-tex doesn’t fray!
    Fits perfectly,
Test rode them at Bike Park Wales on Monday,
Didn’t piss it down but was raining and plenty of mud about, did I get a wet bum?
    Nope!
Best £15 quid I’ve spent on mtb clothing!

I’d recommend is do 60% of your shopping in the fresh Isle

Easier said than done when working opposite shifts to MrsTaco but yup, I’m already feeling the benefits of eating more fresh produce!

    if you do

Not for 4-5 years, best thing I did,
Really don’t understand cyclists that smoke, you see them at the top of a massive climb, totally counter productive.
