Strava is the dog’s bollocks but I’m getting conflicting results from the two apps, i.e.
endomondo 13.7 miles total, max speed 22.89mph,
Strava 14.5 miles total, max speed 27.4mph.

    Thats a massive difference! :?

No cars go ___ Arcade fire

Tune, Always reminds me of Fatboy Slim at Glastonbury ’10
    Already on playlist!

I did however go out without music and enjoyed the peace and quite! Apart from the screaming brummie kids at the running around Nant yr Arian centre….

    WOW!!! Conflicting Arguments!

    Sorry to ask!

    Inconsiderate?!
OK So I’m riding on my own on singletrack that is (during the week) almost empty, I have it loud enough to hear the music but not so loud that I’m not aware of the world around me!

I wouldn’t ever listen to music on the road, you’d have to be pretty crazy to do that!

I would also agree with not listening to anything but the sound of the wind through the trees and plus there are some areas that I know Monsters are lurking waiting to pounce on me! Dancake ,

Music is a great motivator but I use my common sense!

Cli-Machx was parially closed when i rode there last wednesday, basically the last two sections (which are the best bits) but there are some other diversions and changes to direction. There is a temporary car park too so a different start point.

All is well! Turns out the forestry commission has had to stop logging due to finding nesting Dormice! and have since declared Climach-X fully open until further notice! this includes the Carpark and final trail, Tony the Tiger!

Enjoy your stay, may see you up there!

OK OK, just looked into the features on strava! already downloading the app to iPhone! :D

What does Strava have that endomondo doesn’t?
I’m open to change but I can’t really see a difference?!
Do you think I could use both at the same time? to see if I like strava without missing my targets on endomondo?!

    I’m 5’7″ and ride a 16.5″ Van Nicholas Zion Ti HT 29er

Thats a hell of a nice bike! Did you ever use the carbon forks? 80mm sounds like nothing! what sort of riding do you do?!

    Anyone else?! :?

If you normally ride SPD’S why would you even be asking the question

As Coed y Brenin and other trails i’ve visited recently are more technically demanding, figure I may gain more confidence on flats, I feel I could throw myself around more….maybe, suppose i’ll have to try!

I’ll try it but I’m not sure I like the idea of mincing my shin’s up!

I’m running crests with Bontrager XR4’s, I ordered the non-tubeless ones but got sent the tubeless ready ones by mistake, I took this as an omen and went tubeless,
That was a month ago and after many rides around Nant Yr Arain, Not only really chuffed with the lack of any problems (Touch wood!) I’m also firm in the knowledge that I’ll never go back to tubes!
Handles so nice, lighter and I’m confident in them! My riding has improved too!

As far as your rim, get down to you LBS and get them to verify the damage.

Go Tubeless with some tubeless tyres that will have stronger sidewalls!

Within a reasonable price! I think anything over a grand would be out of my reach but I’m open to suggestions!
Obviously 2nd hand will get me more for my money!

no one becomes a DH world champ by “not giving a shit”

Sorry I meant to say “appears not to give a shit”, or better yet what I really meant was he looks unfazed by the pressure…

Lots of great comments on here about him, some also mildly negative, including my own on his facial hair (petty but just)

As my original post said, I love the way he rides, no one can take away from this guy the way he rides and what he has achieved! I look forward to many more years watching him grow bigger, better and stronger!
I’ll be watching more of this guy throwing himself about with no fear whatsoever!

I love his style of throwing himself into it and not giving a shit, looks like he has no fear!

He needs to buy a cat to lick the hair off his face but other than that he’s the nuts

    Same thought!
Maybe his old man has put all his time and effort into Danny becoming a world champion and forgot to show him the art of shaving!

600 quids a bargain to cover all our bikes though

Not if the total value of your bikes as new is around £2000. :?

Yes you can the only difference is their ‘wet’ boiling point ie how well they work under high temperatures

    I’ve never heard of DOT3/4.
    I think “DOT3/4” means DOT3 or DOT4.
So, yes, you can use DOT4

Did think this but I did find a couple of bottles of 3/4 via google,

However on further search they actually say 3&4,

Note to myself…..look harder before asking stoopid questions!

    Cheers for the help! :D

With avids all that needs doing is pumping the lever for a minute or two.

Bearing in mind I went out out on a 6 mile ride this morning, with no bite returning, however I’ll give it a go…

put the bike the right way up
zip tie the levers back to the grips
    leave overnight
will be sorted in the morning

    I’ll give it a go tonight….

If it’s for Flows it’ll be the 25mm stuff but it says here that it’s fine for Crests too.

    :D :-)

    This will sort you out

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=49111

It does say that its used with Flows, doesn’t mention Crests or what size the tape is?

I know Flows are slightly wider than crests, I assume the yellow tape will be the same?!

    cheers for the input!

I was always under the impression that I needed the valves on the rubber innertube-like rings,
However after actually watching This I realize that I you don’t!

Rubber Queens Folding on Stans crest no issue here. (non UST Tyres)

Really? I love my rubber queens, are you running them tubeless or with tubes?

    tacopowell
    Free Member

    (1) Buy UST rims

Step one already failed in buying crests, This I am truly gutted with

Tacopowell: If you are concerned about punctures with tubes you can always use the Panaracer kevlar strips (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/panaracer-flataway-tyre-liner/

Not worried about punctures with tubes, providing I can get the tyre on/off without using a hot bath, bottle of washing up liquid and 3 hours of my time!

I’ll keep the tape in mind if I find the right tyres If I stay with Tubes

    tacopowell

As far as the green tape goes, If I’m going tubed it seems insignificant to change it to the Stans tape?

    tacopowell

OK, the Rocket Rons on the link that Rickon kindly shared, Are they Tubeless ready or designed for tubes?!

I wanted to start off with tubes as I’ve never tried tubeless and I didn’t wanna spend anymore money!
I take it the idea with tubeless is your less prone to punctures? :?

Conti wire bead tyres just don’t like seating evenly

Would folding QR work you think?

    tacopowell
    Free Member

I’ve found the Folding Rubber Queens very easy to mount to Stans rims

I do Like my RQ’s Did wonder if the folding variety would be any easier

    tacopowell

I got my ust rubber queen on by hand

I’m using just standard Rubber Queens, The reason I didn’t wanna go Tubeless is I’ve just forked out 270 quid on the wheels, I’m not in the financial position to start buying added extras!

    tacopowell

are you sure the rims are 26″ and not 29er?

Haha! Even considered this! but Nope both 26″ but how embarrassing would that be?!

Lifes too short to be spending 20 mins trying to fit some rubber and sweating like a donkey next to a meat packing plant

    MTFU

We’re talking about two people trying to get on tyre on a wheel, With a bath full of boiling water, all different flavours of Fairy washing up liquid and the rest at our disposal! I’m not willing to find out how I’ll cope with a puncture, Life is too short!

    tacopowell

Had two people working on this rear tyre with no luck!
    Having a break from this!

Contacting Wickedcycles in the hope they’ll take them back, but with the rotors and cassette already installed I fear the worst!

This all made harder by the sun making an appearance today

Thanks for all the advice, currently trying to get the second bead round the second rim so I can atleast ride the bike to try and pop the beads into the correct position…..

Well I think all this has convinced me that when I order my Hoops it will be Mavic or DT as I have no intention of going tubeless and introducing difficulty to installing tyres would seem stupid.

Oh how I wish I did a little more research!

Even If I get them on I pretty certain I’ll be selling them on, the thought of puncture while out riding these is not my idea of fun.

    I feel gutted :(

Wow, I was expecting nothing from that post,
    Filled with a little hope!

We’ve previously lived all over, Sherwood, Meadows, Forest fields,
We’re looking for anywhere between Sherwood Rise going up to Arnold, I’d prefer to stay within reasonable commuting distance on bike if we can, But we’ll be happy where ever really…

I hear the peaks can be pretty technical, Some big rides to look forward too!
Sherwood pines and Belvoir Loop look pretty good…

A little happier now with your positive comments!
    Any more places not mentioned?!
