Does this mean I need to buy a summer bike then (as I only own a hardtail)

    +1, don’t think I’ll convince the missus.

It’s exciting technology, but the social media applications are socially boring in my opinion.

Nant yr Arian, hands down but then again I’ve not been to enough to make a broad decision.

Up until 8 months ago Nant used to be my local trail, Also the trail I started mtb’ing thus also the trail I rode and learnt so much on my first bike, kindly donated by dreenya! (Forever grateful!)

I miss Nant so much, will be visiting in a couple of weekends, Not sure how I’ll cope with the leg burner after all this time, not much in the way of big climbs in Sherwood!

My only grumble with Nant was the huge and massively deep puddles on double track on the Syfydrin trail that never dried up!

Have crests, great rims, bugger to get the tyre on but don’t let that put you off, I’ve heard others say it was no issue, put this way, once they’re on, they’re staying there!

I didn’t use any myself, seems to be fine on my Prince Albert frame.

Put it on,does it line up with your chainring?

I manned up, two fingers up to the raw sinus’s and went for a ride around sherwood pines, the sun was shining and I recieved 41 Strava achievements most of which were Personal Bests.

I remembered this thread on my way round and it came clear to me how lucky I am, a cold is nothing.

Dibbs, I sincerely hope you get through your treatment as pain free as possible and your full health returns asap so you can get back on your bike.

    Stay strong my friend.

    +1 Grass is always greener.

I lived in mid-Wales for 3 years, although extremely beautiful it was a daily struggle due to higher costs for pretty much everything, lower wages, sod all job prospects and sometimes very hostile natives.

If you can make it work, great but if you can’t, no hard cheese!

+1 mate, gutted, just stringing some good rides together when I got man flu on Thursday, loads of you will say mtfu but in truth if I went for a ride I’d prelong my illness for another week, frickin annoying when it’s sunny with no wind! Hoping I’ll get out tomorrow.

what sort of riding do you do?

XC, Trail, Sherwood pines been my local haunt but travelling to Wales non and then,

I’m fairly new to mtb (3years) realising I could learn more on flats.

V8’s are not a bad pedal but the bearing is shocking
No, it’s not. It just comes with very little grease in it. Put the supplied syringe of grease in straight away, and then some more, and they’ll be fine.

You say that but I’ve got an old pair of V8’s but with one pedal not rotating correctly, reckon bearings ****.

    bearnecessities – Member
I’ve got some V8’s in very good condition kicking about if you want to borrow them to see how you get on.

Very kind offer, though after postage I may as well buy some new!

I’d love a change though. Son’s autistic so would love to work with learning difficulties

Very rewarding, often frustrating (system letting peeps down) and low paid but the rewards often outweigh that.

    Veterinary nurse!

Tried the vets out for my work experience day during school all them many years ago,

Watched a cats tail been amputated and fainted, had I applied myself I could have worked through my squeamishness and gone down your route.

How do you make your living? royal navy engineer on submarines

My brother in law is a engineer in the Navy (previously invincible)
He also is counting down the days,
He also has no problem paying for mtb.

What you fancy doing once out?

Does it pay enough for you to mtb comfortably? Not likely, starting wage of band 5 agenda for change for those who are interested and can be bothered to look it up.

I know roughly, I also know its nowhere near what it should be.

    Paramedic is something I’ve considered.

NOT interested to what you actually earn! – I work in the Public Sector, so you’re entitled to know!

Might be entitled but it wouldn’t benefit me to know!

What farm is that hardrock from? Needs culled.

Wanted to do something with my first mtb frame years ago, same pictured, googled custom Spesh hardrock and seen that, always played on my mind, had nightmares since.

Best post I’ve come across yet!

So can we please set up some sort of fundraising page to buy all 3 bikes,
We could do a national tour/death circus,

This could be the start of something beautiful!

Not on the same level but reminds me a little of this
