I’m lycrad up to the eyeballs and about to head out on a bike with very VERY skinny tyres.

It’s sunny and the trails are dry but your going out on the road bike?!

    Why so? Crazy fool!

I didn’t even recognise the OP’s name, I thought he was a new member just signed up to be a troll, the fact he actually admitted to attempting to troll this thread, and then get all snotty when pulled up about his poor grammar, means I’ve no respect for whatever point he was trying to make.

The Names Tacopowell, Been a member for a year or two but only recently started using the forum properly.

Read my posts again, Where did I admit to trolling?! Read the original post and ask yourself if was at all in the slightest bit aggressive???

As far as getting “snotty” about my grammar, no, I find it annoying when people use poor grammar as an argument, Has nothing to do with my quite frankly easy going opinion on the subject in the original post.

People would be better off reading rather than scanning the words.

People’s intolerance towards other people beliefs is pretty shocking.

Your right, I’m wrong to question anyones believes, intolerant towards defiantly not, just really curious as to how the scale and power involved with religion has become as vast as it has.

I meant that the reason the Churches have acquired so much power over the centuries is by exploiting fear and ignorance
Welcome to 200 years ago. I suggest you start reading the next volume of your history book. In fact, you’d better re-read all the previous volumes, you sound pretty ignorant.

Fear and ignorance might not be the preferred method these days, surely it’s now just ignorance? Ignorance on a foundation of fear and ignorance built over thousands of years?

Don’t quote me on that though! My knowledge on the matter is weak at best!

I suppose what I really would like to know is how do new generations of believers (whatever their chosen religion), believe what they believe?

Having said that, as a Pantheist, I don’t understand the need, or have it myself, but I refuse to be critical of those who do.

There’s no doubt it has the power to do good but….

I posted the thread not because I’m a hater or because I’m the “Thread Police” or because I thought I’d try my hand at Trolling,
To be completely honest I didn’t actually have a negative thought when writing the OP,
I’ve only recently started using the forum, for MTB related and non MTB related posts (Chat Forum), I’ve added to the community, trying to keep a positive note in my posts, Yes I like to grumble in real life, but I’m generally positive person.

I took an observation about how on a Mountain Biking forum there was a fair amount of Road cycling talk, I wasn’t negative to anyone, I simply put my opinion across,
I put a suggestion to people that there was a Road cycling forum in the form of road.cc (I wouldn’t expect to see a flurry of Playstation posts on an XBox forum?)

Add that my grammar was poor (Hands Up) I then received a torrent of abuse or just general negativity in reaction a simple suggestion based on my opinion,
Some agreed, some took the extreme, talking of leg shaving fairies or something (don’t quote me on that!) but most of which were a negative and often abusive reaction, fine I except that!
We are of course on the internet, freedom to/too(?) express yourself as you please,
However what upsets me is this goes against the pretty good atmosphere that I’ve felt from the forums in the past couple of months.

I apologize my post caused such negativity

    I’m leaving it this

Grammar is important. It’s the difference between helping your uncle Jack off a horse, or helping your uncle jack off a horse…the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you’re shit. Ya dig?

Oh I get it, I’m just not very good at it, it doesn’t however give people the right to be an arse when my grammar’s poor
Does it?! Maybe I’m missing something?

Anyway, I’m off to/too (???) road.cc to talk mountain bikes!

you’d have to be mental to do much mtbing at this time of year

I honestly don’t get that, Road biking is great and has its benefits but MTBing is why I do it… Winter or Summer.

Ultimately, the sport is old enough now for many of us to have moved from pure MTB to a mixture of Road and trail. It’s just how the forum is maturing. Like it or lump it I’d say.

    It would appear that way!

Get over yourself, it’s all cycling isn’t it? Some of us do road, CX and MTB. Should we use different forums for all of them?
Your troll is far too obvious..

    Troll this is not!

I felt my point was very fair and justified, noticed a significant increase in road bike subjects on a mountain bike forum!

If like myself you ride both, great but use the appropriate forum!

Although both can complement each other you wouldn’t ride your road bike off road and visa versa however I am at a loss with cyclocross :?

    It’s “too” much.
    Not
    “To” much.

Yeah, you can get over yourself!

Seriously people, I posted it with a fair point, opinion, yes but a fair point non the less and I get shot down?!
    By the grammar nazi’s?!

I would suggest with whatever you use to turn it on then put it in your pack and forget about it. No need for electronic distractions while out riding, they’re for geeking out over at home

The only thing with snakes is that they do live as long as cats/dogs etc… so expect at least a 20 year commitment
