I almost relish meeting these people,
If they’re genuine in their beliefs you can only be entertained by this sort of craziness!

I would have thrown some craziness back at them, Dropped some Christmas singing or Some Carlton style dancing, Those Daily Mail types get easily freaked out.

    Great post!

One bike, A Hardtail, 26″ Prince Albert,

All down to the fact I can’t afford the upkeep of a full susser.
I must admit I’ve grown to love it, I ride mainly Sherwood Pines/Cannock Chase but also Wales often.
Unless I come across a large amount of money I won’t be considering returning to a full susser,

Truth be told it’s given me more confidence in my riding.

People here are far to quick to judge the OP as a troll,

    Why?!

I’ve seen this type of irresponsibility on trails, Evolution will sort it.

Rumour going around that RVP has asked for a transfer!

Oh how us Gooners would laugh if it were true.

If it was true, which it isn’t, it would be funny

I’m not one to hold a grudge but the ‘little boy’ comment was a massive insult not just to AW’s trust in him over the years but to the club and everything the club stands for,
For me personally, Robin Van Persie is everything that is wrong with football today,
    Greed and a no loyalty,

He wanted trophies (understandable), The club was about (now) to enter into a new financial sustainable and competitive era, He couldn’t repay the loyalty AW had put into many inconsistent, injury prone seasons for a couple more seasons and its because of this I will am enjoying Manchester United in the position they are,

I hope they don’t make it to a top 4 spot, I hope RVP asks for a transfer request and gets refused, I hope the little boy in him fails miserably,
Not because I’m *sour but because he deserves the very large humble & Karma pie that he baked.

    *I’m very sour.

and probably not a popular thing to say on a mtb forum, but that’s how I see it

Which I guess is the problem, many cyclists don’t see or even want to see their wrongs.

Poor driving may well be dangerous and may well put someone else in hospital.

I’ve always thought this but nobody in a car actually wants to hit a rouge cyclist.

do you have any of the tools required ?

I own a cheap wilkos plastering trowel and a blunt Stanley knife!
Surely all the materials and tools are still going to be cheaper than getting someone in to do the job, Don’t see myself doing to much plastering after this.

I just stuck fire line plasterboard to the inside of the current chimney then put on some of the corner stuff trail_rat links to above round the front most edges and got a boy in to skim it.

    Thats the one!

How much did you pay to have it skimmed?

I don’t fancy paying any money out, Cant be too hard?! :?

Keep riding as you are, and don’t worry about the kit. Just laugh at the “all the gear, no idea” types on their £5k carbon machines, who you sail past on the climbs.

    All day long.

Actually the head of the East Midlands FC is a keen MTBer. Allegedly. not sure he’d know a good trail if he faceplanted into it.

    Clearly.

As I said in OP I fully appreciate its the priority to farm the woodland but when you see other trail centers working with the forestry commission there is a little resentment that the management isn’t a little biker friendly.

there’s section half way round just before the rock garden/bikepark, with a drop and several berms before the small climb to junction ‘bikepark left/Red route right’
diggers have driven right over the top of the berms almost like intentionally aiming for them!

maybe I’m over exaggerating but there is an element in truth in saying that other trails will work with the FC to minimise damage and have the people and funds after to repair any damage, the Pines seems like the trail is an inconvenience to them.

The alternative would be no access and people, god forbid, having to use maps and go into the hills and look after themselves and face the wrath of ramblers and maybe get lost and maybe be responsible for themselves and…..and….and…….NOOOOOOO!!!!!

    God forbid indeed!

Point taken, I have of course taken time to explore outside of the marked trails but I don’t always have the time to do this and a short burst around a purpose built trail is ideal before/after work, Particularly when living in a city!

I can grumble all I want but only if I’m willing to make a change by helping around the pines (not a great deal of trail building going on)

or I can shut up and explore!

Incidentally its pretty dry at the moment which is unusual as its always pretty muddy just be aware some of the berms aint as high as the used to be!

You have beard because someone told you too?

I’m not aware of been told to grow a beard, I grew a beard because I’m a man and I can grow one, I don’t look at other men and aspire to look like they do, If there’s a trend to grow beards, great, if there’s a trend to shave everyday, great,

Great for people that worry about trend’s.

Haha, I forget that I’m now in my 30’s, I would consider middle age around 40’s, All perception, My 18 year old self would consider me now to be middle age.

I guess some of the negative comments came from those wearing full lengths on a day like today :D

Keep going, shampoo and condition no more than 3 times a week, doing frequently will strip it of its natural oils and make it itchier, some beard oil can help but most of all… perseverance,
    The itchy phase will pass.

Don’t listen to the naysayers, its your birthright as a man to grow your beard!

    Beard On!

    Talking of addiction,

the one thing that has made me ponder is my hedonistic youth,

I took all sorts of pills and powders without really knowing what was in them!

    I could be fully infertile!

Oh well, I had a good time…I think?

Stress is something both the wife and I are aware of,
it’s early days and we’re not worried,
Guess we’d rather eliminate any obvious barriers now rather than later.

I guess the longer it takes the more money I can spend on the my bikes

Check out the iMDB ratings for each Season & Episode, The final episode received a 10/10 and rightfully so.

Breaking Bad is the best TV ever created, Watch until Season 3, if your not hooked by then theres something seriously wrong with you.

Thanks for all input, The question was asked out of curiosity really, First time buyer with the idea of staying here for many years to come

I guess we could install a massive TV instead and use it as a selling point to move on up to somewhere where a Stove would be more in keeping but then again I’m not sure we’d be welcome in such areas

It’s taken about 6 people and 100’s of hours to dig a 40ft berm which is 10ft high a few roller and two tables.

Is that for 36ers and above, only?

I expect there’s lots of political / opportunity / personal interest factors that come into play that can kybosh a project before it even sees the light of day / gets deigned by FC.

If I won the lottery, could I waltz with the money and demand a new trail centre? Unlikely…

Lots and lots of Stella Artois

    :D

Low key volunteers can get in areas much easier and with good skills can build some unique and interesting features.

gorilla trail building, Has to be the case in many areas i guess. Very tempting.

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about Sherwood pines

Your not wrong, I posted this to assess the trails and tribulations (Pun most defiantly intended) of building trails and why it seems to be an issue at Pines, regardless of what else is available in the area, it’s the FC’s involvement i’m intrigued about,
That been said, its always good to read about it from other perspectives.

They’re out there every Sunday working on both the XC and DH trails, have Thursday sessions once or twice a month, and have the Big Build Days every now and again (next one is October 20th).

If that’s the case, where are they getting there funding from? it’s all good have a small, dedicated and consistent army of trail builders but if there’s no money, there’s surely no materials?

It would seem Cannock have right people behind the scenes to get it to work.
