Incredibly cruel condition. I spent 4 days in a bed next to a guy in hospital for respite care and gained a huge respect for anyone coping with it.

Bravo for noticing and Choosing to not be a bystander

The guy next to me was incoherent and immobile for long periods as his meds only worked for a few hours, his mind was rapier sharp and he just wanted to talk + thrash me at scrabble!

Ask him if hat he’d like to do, I’m guessing that there’s someone behind the conditions….who wants a normal conversation, pint, go to a movie, a local football game…..

    Good luck with solving this.

Ages ago had similar problems the consultant recommended getting rid of the carpets and putting down linoleum + sorting out the ventilation

Didn’t result in a cure but reduced the incidence of asthma and respiratory infections

If you don’t like concrete posts you could use post protectors at the junction between the post and ground

17L every 4,200 (3,000 miles post emissions service+ 1,200 remaining mileage to empty tank)

Previously it only had partial top ups which totalled ( in the range of 15-20 L) for 27,000 miles

    (Not noticed any other changes)

If it’s Euro 6 you need to budget for the adblue

Pre emissions service 2 top ups in 27,000 mile post service top up every 3,000 miles……..

(If its had the emission service you get 6 free top ups but I can’t recall if that’s for the original owner)

Sounds like you have an easement for acess for your water main to your own private supply.

You could cut them off and go nuclear with them…. or you could approach them as if they’ve made an honest mistake… get their spur disconnected and move on..,,

If they act like entitled gits then you may have to go nuclear with them… however they will still be the neighbours

There is a large disparity between rolls in different companies some directors I’ve met should only be responsible for paper clips, whilst I’ve met some coordinators who are superb

The challenge of enlarging the small nr of tunnels clearly depends on the geological conditions of each location and for some routes would be prohibitive

Electrification misses an opportunity, they should go for double deck trains. If they are going to replace rolling stock, reconfigure track beds and rebuild bridges the the delta is worthl considering.

The major problem is the nr of tracks and platform lengths which limit the nr of trains and frequency of service. Improved performance of the rolling stock and signalling infrastructure adds capacity but more is needed.

Colleague had a gen 2 9-5 just as Saab went pop.. when it arrived it had horrible ride quality as they supplied it with 19″ wheels, when it had 18″ fitted it transformed the ride.

I really liked the car and thought it was far better that the competition

How about a downdraft extraction system instead? You could duct at low level to an external wall

Using flat mega duct against wall behind base units

Don’t overdo the future proofing… the future has a habit of leapfrogging systems that people install.

I’d recommend forming a riser or leaving wireways from where the fuse board is to the loft + similar from where the br / phone point is

I relocated the Railton Special 20 yrs ago and got to sit in it, John Cobb must have had very big one to drive it as it had two of the Napier Lion engines and held the land speed record at 394 mph.

It was a beautiful peice of engineering it drove front and rear axles from seperate drive trains as there wasn’t a transmission strong enough for both engines together.

Saying that I prefer the Napier Railton…

They could have mitigated the disruption through partial evacuation of these blocks (say 18m and above) + added fire marshals 24/7.

A significant portion of those evacuated could then have stayed if their flats we below a designated level.

Clearly in that scenario occupants should be given the option to go.

In all fairness to the authorities they are in a difficult position.
