There`s a bunkhouse at Barrowburn, next to the tearoom, you could do self catered accomodation in there and you are at the end of a couple of big loops of riding. Barrowburn is just up the road from Alwinton, which has a pub that does good food and good craic, the landlord rides a bit as well.
Sandstone way has more tarmac than an MTB rode should have ;)

Nearby there were some fabulous cheeky trails, then somebody stalked a local`s straffa account and the next thing you know a thin trail is two metres wide because of the whores that followed said follower.
The land owner(National Trust) has had these segments removed…with good reason. We just need them to dry out out now eh Jamie ;)

    ^^ Yes.
I had this with a pair of shoes my brother sent back to the UK (long story) and got absolutely stuffed for various fees. Import, VAT and that old chestnut “handling”…Robin b`stards!

Its 1100 miles or so south of where I`m sat. It is closer to the med so that will have an effect on the weather… Dry cold rather than wet freezing.

Go for something else that will clog with mud, have crap bearings then.Ive run Time ATACs in their various guises, including the plastic ones for many a year. Yes they wear out....eventually, show me a pedal that doesnt, but I`ve never been let down by them.

Robin Hood.He stole from the rich. Mr Biggs and co stole from a mail train that was carrying “the peoples” money… Not quite how I saw Robin Hood.

Needed a few more riders with some imagination, to buy some robust, hardwearing kit, rather than the fashions that the “quick racer kids” are wearing…

Surely the allen bolt would only be tightened to the same pressure as a quick release to stop the `post turning, because you can get the correct torque on an allen key rather than forcing the q/r to close?
Or am I alone in thinking this….

So then, Avids need a PRO bleed kit, not the Amateur, that is available off the shelves…
Shimano brakes are great until your caliper decides that the seals have done enough….

As Julian said up there^^^^^ in 2009 there were a few hardtails doing it, unlike the following year. I DID have the choice of a 140mm full suss or a 150mm forked hardtail which I took. And if I was presented with the same options knowing what I do now, I would still take the hardtail…remember there is no clock ticking on the tourist trip

<pedant alert> Z1 anniversary fork was 2007. 10 years of the Z1 Bomber. Painted orange as was the Z1 BAM that started it all… :D
Just replaced mine with a Sektor, very plush but may need new spring as it has a habit of blowing through the travel very easily, unlike the ultra(by comparison) heavy Z1 Anniversary
