    Carriagedrive was compacted snow yesterday.
I think we"ll need global warming before its clear again. Where there has been deep snow it isn`t moving very much if at all. I was able to ride too the carpark at simonside via Whitton hillhead and fields, but beyond that it was impassable.
Pinball is okay for sessioning though because the water has washed the "line" clear

males are a right PITA! IMO some male Westie just want to fight 24-7.

    <cough> BOLLOX </cough>

My girlfriend has had pairs of westies (and at times there have been three)for nigh on 25 years ALWAYS male, NEVER fought.
Other than that he`s right, visit the mother and litter at their home. Sometimes the breeder will be checking you out to see you are "fit" to be an owner

A 20(€uro) cent coin fits perfectly into the end of ODI lock-on collars. These don`t shatter like the plactic end caps supplied, when your bar lands on something "hard"

I have a mate who is selling an FSR stumpy with a set of those brown(I am ignorant to Specialized`s designation)triple clamps on. Complete bike by the way….

GEDA is right, go to Ashington or Blyth, trails are nice and quiet down that way.
Simonside/ Cheviots are really busy  currently under a foot of snow to!

If the cost of the repair is 4/5 or more of the value, it will be written off. If the floorpan is buckled, its a gonner!

From what I recall, the shortest travel was 120mm. One of the lads who had these, did complain of sore forearms.
The novelty of switchbacks and skidding round them changes to necessity, early on, once the clock starts ticking..
1 Cotic,1 Orange, 2 Dialled bikes, 1 Ragley. That was the hardtail contingent…or have I forgotten someone?

For the length of timed sections AND the days riding in that type of terrain, rigid forks would be a bad move, ask anybody who DID do it about the ride from the top of the Col des Champs.
A telescopic seatpost would be a good idea.
Don`t go for ultra lightweight components as it will most likely fail.
Make sure your bike is fully fettled before you go, and similarly you be prepared for long days good riding that do have an elementof climbing.Having said that it was (for me anyway) more about the downs than the ups, they were just a necessary evil
Carry your camera as there are some fantastic photo opportunities on the link sections.

Lets face it, it is a dangerous time to be ordering and expecting immediate delivery. There`s 3 extra holidays (4 if your in Scotland) in 10 day period, and a lot of people are on holiday anyway. As was stated above, try the LBS, they may have more than you expect…..

Strangely enough I shall be in the "fortunate position" you have posed early in the new year if the relevant people get their shit together…
What do I want? New brakes for the Dialled PA, new forks for the Cannondale, new tyres for everything (5 or them) and thats about it…..

Will the timing be done the same way as last year or will the timing transponder be attached in a more secure manner. It would ve been nice to have the option to carry on to do the second lap

I had a 1994 beast of the east, fitted reducer cups so I could run an inch and eighth headset, put Rockshox Indys of some description on it, not the best for but preferable to the rigid Pepperonis
I wish Id never sold it….
Still got the LX hubs in the bits box

I used to get this riding a Planet X Armadillo. Changed back to a steel frame, Dialled PA to be precise. Back pain is a thing of the past, and its lighter*!!

*only frame changed, all components swapped over…. :?

Been to the south of France 4 times, Lots of solo camping, no problems other than it had a big appetite for brake pads and pins, when working in Kielder

Living in "the north " of england, I was amazed/well pissed off that 95% of people drive on FULL BEAM on the M25. This was in both lanes, clockwise and anti clockwise…WTF regardless of other road users

I sense another north south debate….

Maxle is 20mm "bolt through" with a qr of sorts.
15qr is a FOX fork bolt through with a qr.
    Standard quick release is QR.
15mm qr has few hubs suitable at the moment.
Maxle will take any 20mm bolt through hub.
