It is accessable from Hepple Whitefield and from Harwood village…The FC have cleared the fire roads, and no traffic is evident at the weekend…

What are people running up front? Debating whether a shorty or mud tyre is required?

Well considering the terrain is a mixture of:
Rock, (igneous if it REALLY matters)
    Grass (possible wet, possibly dry)
Mud ( the sun never shines in some of the places) maybe some dust if you are lucky..
Fire road and tarmac( non competitive sections)
So…an all rounder really, unless you want to put a couple of tyres in your bag as well, just to lighten the load  :)

If you head to Wooler there`s easy accessible bridleways that will keep you entertained for the required time/distance.
And it should be reasonably quiet too…

Fire roads…lots of them, some go up, some come down. Some could be tramlined from timber extraction. The material they use for building the roads is big and lumpy if you arent on the swept line….So you want a bike that can deal with all of this, I`d suggest a 100mm full suss trail bike maybe a 29er even, but thats me.

A product that by its very design has to be removed and replaced at some point…Why would you want to glue it in?

I`ve seen Tank /gaffa/duck tape used to attach numbers in MTB categories, dont know about the road.
As long as the number is identifyable use anything?

This is why I only fit the manufacturer`s pads..push the pistons back, and put the pads in. Those that are old enough, will remember this was one of the selling points, when we evolved from braking with wires and blocks of rubber..
No need for bleeding or filing, its meant to be an easy job, why make it difficult?

By changing the name from AVID to SRAM didn`t solve the problems …..That they hoped it would ;)
Avid should have stuck with their cable brakes they were brilliant.

So not only do you want the moon on a stick, you want jam on it?
Clips require a rigidity in the shoe. Flats dont.

There`s a video on another website that reckons 10mm off the stem is worth 20mm on the bar width.

Though the bikes may have been other brands just stickers up…

That would be the Jamtense M1

The tension is adjustable on the SPD if its a SHIMANO pedal. This well make a difference as to how much effort is required to get out of the “clip”.
The position of the cleat on the shoe may need to be different for each foot as well.
FWIW When I started with clips (riding to work at 04.00 in the morning) I would clip in at the xxx car, clip out at the lamp post etc etc until it became second nature. It only took a couple of days for this to happen

Age is not a restriction. Your mental state may be, but not age. :D

I ride a Large TREK Remedy. I have a friend who has an XL Escarpe. My Remedy feels longer in the top tube than the St.Vitus

Really, any advantage you can get over fellow competitors is legal UNTIL it is declared illegal?

You know when you get free buses and the like in these resorts…..the one Euro or so you pay helps fund that. I wish I had a decent public transport system locally that was funded by such things…. SUCK IT UP!

Has anyone tried to use someone like TF Tuned for warranty issues with SRAM stuff?

Yes…… They wanted to charge me 40GBP for their admin time for a 35GBP part, which I kind of understand, but then again thought it was a bit steep so just paid the 35….

Most of the DH stuff IS twisty, rooty, stuff and not boat loads of hucking drops. Loads of lines on the uplifted hill, not all are waymarked, maybe best to take a long look at a map to get your bearings before you set off :)

Bought an 11/42, fitted it, I had to tweak a long cage XT mech and that was it. It rides up (almost) everything now apart from the sides of houses and flights of stairs…

Dont look at the Virgin money cyclone, its held on pothole filled roads, its not held on closed roads so there are members of the public going about their business and a pack of thoughtless cyclist does nothing for a rural persons temper…especially when they only visit once a year and put nothing into the local economy.
On a positive note, I can however recommend ANYTHING at the south end of EUROTUNNEL you will not be treated as a second class citizen, infact you will be welcomed with open arms, you wont be getting in anyones way and there are thousands of similar minded people. Oh its the national pastime by all accounts as well.:)

Wasn`t allowed to take it. Not sure if it was the no mudguards or only one brake that got me excluded.. I did manage to buy an enamel badge several years later but only “the few” really knew the truth ;)
I spend my weekends checking for helmet straps an barplugs now…..

All the trails are filled with walkers, there are trail Nazis at every turn. I wouldn`t bother, look away, there is nothing to see here. Go to Glentress instead…or Hamsterley

Frame ordered 7th August 2015, never heard anything more, not a squeak other than “yeah we`ll chase it up has it really been that long?”
6 months to the day cancelled then ordered something else, which arrived a week earlier than the 3 weeks I was told…:D

Go to Europe…..the weather could be infinitely better, there are less “access Nazis”. You will be able to do all of the things you want, they even have lakes there, and it`ll be a good experience.
