I always look in the metal one but haven’t seen anything yet, skips are more my bag though, i’ve had a Kona Hahana, a Raleigh Burner and a mint Mini Burner all just from my road.

It’s weird as normally i don’t get stressed at all but to get stressed over something that should be pleasurable is just unfair.

    I don’t think i’ll find a s/h green butcher though?

I assume it’s NY city so i’m guessing there’s not too many trails so i’d take the pompino

    Nice choice Leku

Out of interest, I’m looking at a santa cruz butcher but no where close has a test bike, 18 bikes have a nickel so hopefully that will give me some idea.

It doesn’t matter how much money you earn (within reason) £1500 is still alot of money.

i think i’d be better off buying a second hand one but i really fancied a new one once in my life!

the 5 was on my list but at the very common height of 5 10 i’m in between sizes, they’re one of the few bikes i have managed a ride on

not heard anything about them but i’m thinking of going for the rockshox one as i think they know a thing or two about sealing up and down things

    thanks,

well i much prefer a more lively ride so that’s something i’ll consider

yes sorry, i did mean the spicy

You’re right i do need to demo some bikes, 18 haven’t got a butcher but they do have nickel

I’d thought about the new heckler too, esp at the price but i can’t help thinking that simple single pivots are a bit old fashioned, esp as the heckler has been around for so long. I know it’s eveolved and if it’s not broke etc but all my bikes have been single pivots so i also just fancy a change and something new.

Frame i owned for the shortest amount of time, sold after a couple of rides. I ran it with Pikes, just felt wrong, too stiff, way to agricultural for my refined taste!

providing the chain and/or cassette aren’t knackered it’s just a case of setting the cable tension.

have a look here, it’s alot quicker than me typing it all out!

I’ve been narrowing my search down for a while and the butcher is top of the list, only potential drawback i can see is the lack of maxle rear end but i was just after some ‘real’ rider feedabck and comments as oppose to industry blurb.

Intended use will be my regular peak district rides and i suppose the over used all mountain tag actually fits quite well, though i am interested in how it climbs.

If it matters i currently ride a Cannondale Prophet which is generally great but sometimes i feel like like i need a bit more and before that i had a Bullit and i often felt like i needed a bit less.

I think you should make your decision on what sort of riding you do or intend to do rather than fork length. If it’s xc (and the soul can handle a lot more then you think) then save the weight and get a soul, if you plan on throwing it around a bit then the BFe is fantastic.

Getting onto forks I run my BFe with pikes which i think is plenty for a HT.

    STW sub
    Meriono top
    Endura tights
    New commute helmet

i wouldn’t buy new forks for an extra 10mm but as above i would for an extra 30mm

As for chain length you’ll have to check
