    like this?

The lyriks are amazing as you know but i had them wound down to 145 for most riding only winding them out for big stuff. I’ve just swapped them onto my new Yeti ASR 7 frame so have gone back to Pikes on the Prophet. I’ll never sell the Prophet as it’s so good but i always had the 140mm max fork thing in the back of my mind hence the new frame so i could run 160 all the time on that.

they’re 2011 slx but a quick search hasn’t shown anything up.

bit naff they’re not supplied with spares, not sure about tape think i’ll stick with oldschool outboard.

I know SC do come up short as i used to ride a Bullit but i found the Butcher really short.

I’m 5 10 and i went for a small, yeti’s are bigger in general esp tt and standover. It’s the same size as my small BFe and a tad shorter than my prophet

True, a test ride or at very least a test sit is crucial, i’d been looking for a while and had made my mind up on a SC Butcher but when i went to test it, it felt terrible, way too short, i was so dissappointed.

Then i saw the cheap yeti’s and went to try one out for size at lbs and it just felt right.

As for a the full bike option, last time i bought a full bike but within a few months i’d changed everything on the bike to suit me plus most stock finishing kit is pretty low spec to save money so not very cost effective.

Bespoke is the way to go

I bought a 7 frame at that price but haven’t built it up yet as i’m waiting for my new wheels.

I did a LOT of research and found that most bikes in this category are very similar in terms of geometry and the reviews seemed very good as well.

Oh and I’d budgeted £1500 for a new frame and i was going to transfer my old bits but at £780 i’ve been able to get new wheels, drive train, KS post and other shiny bits for the same money!

There’s a review on here if you haven’t seen it

thanks all, i’ll have a look tonight to check how much clearance i’ve got.

I fancy the 3 peaks but i don’t want to get a new cx bike.

yes i was riding there today and i did attend the recent access meeting where it was discussed. Anything above the wall is now uncool to ride for reasons mentioned above but below is fine on the proviso that no further digging takes place.

There’s lots of other new stuff though but i’m not posting it up on here.

tt is the only measurement i really bother about but it’s crucial if a bike is to fit you and therefore feel right. having said that differences of 0.3″ are negligable and can easy be taken up by moving your saddle forward and back. You can also swap your stem length too , cheaper than a new frame!

yeah, weightweenies is patchy and not up to date esp for slx and i can’t find weights on the shimano site

    swisstony

thanks, yes that price is whats got me interested.

I’ve been to sit on a 575 as lbs didn’t have a 7 but it felt really good. that was a sml and i’m 5 10.

I was going to go for a RP23 anyway but thanks for feedback on dhx.

I’ve not had a yeti before but i thought 575’s were held in high regard and a 67 degree haed angle still makes it feel steep?

Oh and apparently it can take a 2.5 tyre?

bonesetter, so do you not pay any tax using them?

Rob, thanks if i decide to go further it i’ll drop you a line

parkesie, that’s a worry, esp as there’s plenty of hollow tubes in a frame to stuff crack into, what alfa where they intended for?

    swisstony

thanks, that’s still an over £250 saving.

Any ways to try and avoid tax?
