Haha, ok so I’m not much of a mathematician but I liked the idea of working 4 days.

Oh well back to doing the lottery

Thanks, yeah I know you only pay over £42k ish but there must be a point where the 40% tax you pay makes it comparable with dropping a day and back down.

It may not work but someone mentioned it today and it got me thinking

General rules are whatever you think for time and cash, then times by three. Oh and you never sell it for more than the restoration costs so it’s got to be a labour of love rather than to make money.

Within 5 mins of riding the toe will peel up and you’ll realise why this will never catch on

The car is a 55 and its always been the same so if there is any ‘softening’ then I’d say it was negligible.

I’ve spoken to VW today and while they don’t offer heavy duty springs themselves the chap advised that was the way to go and I’ve found some aftermarket ones for £40 each so I’m going down that route.

thanks, i’m no stranger to classics or alfa’s having also got a gtv but i do think any preventative work is a good idea.

I’ll give it a full service and replace all the filters and fluids then i might take it to a specialist for a look over.

thanks, for some reason just the alfa wheeler dealers clips have been removed from youtube?

well we went to Dalby and i’m glad we did, we did the red route which skill wise was good and plenty long enough, maybe too long in hindsight for a couple of the lads esp as it was roasting.

The two lads who’d only had there mountain bikes a fortnight loved it and can’t wait to go out again so i’d call it a success so time to introduce them to some proper peaks riding!

I just wanted to know if people get on with them, especially for long journeys like to the south of france.

The load limit on the one ive looked at is 250kg which i’m sure will be fine. I don’t know about loading other than spreading it evenly??

And yes i’ll have to have a good carpark reversing practice session before i set off.

The hard top are alot more expensive than the others though

I did ask if it was ok to take them out, not sure i’d want to give him a bribe but i suppose it may have helped?

no the bike hangs up by the front wheel so it must have happened when riding, no noticable loss of air though

yeah the lifts were free in Tignes last year, 5 euros for the card which you got back, oh and Pila is well worth the visit, about an hour and a halves drive into Italy and good to bag another country. Aosta is a really cool town with great food for apres riding.

There’s also a great all day ride from Col d’Iseran down to Bourg which is a must if you like that sort of thing, Trailaddiction call it heidi and it’s pretty obvious to find on the map
