    thanks all,

i wanted to avoid taking the rads off as there’s a couple which are sludged up, the worse being in the front room which is a BIG old cast iron one and we’ve only recently had a new cream carpet fitted!

    I’ll try the flush first.

It’s not a combi boiler so does that make it an open system?

    What does reverse flushing mean?

Can’t find it but i’ve put a post up, also i did find out that you can now get replacement bushings for the freehub body so you don’t have to replace the whole thing.

Thanks BWD, i’ll search around for those. I know about the bushing, the youtube vid told me that much and luckily i’ve got a spare body ready to fit. The bearings are a bit gritty though so i might as well give it the full hit.

I was thinking of a 2/3 season bag which would be ok for the uk (i could always undo the zip) but then use it with the hunka for a bit extra for the arctic, i’ll be in a tent as well and it’s in july so shouldn’t be much below 0.

thanks folks, yeh the only real test will be out on the trail, i’ll check the outer length as i did shorten it but i may of shortened it too much.

thanks guys, sorry for delay, i posted then went sledging

anyway, i’m pretty sure it’s fitted ok and you’re right, i have readjusted the b screw so it doesn’t rub, the problem now is that the mech is quite far away from the cassette when in the highest gear. I haven’t been out to test it but it seems a less than ideal compromise???

I don’t think i could ever justify spending more than £500 on a frame, thankfully there’s a lot of other people who are daft enough to and i buy their hardly used frames when the next must have model comes out.

yep size is dependant on both, i’d realised i had a spare set on on aold shock but there’s still play there so i’m guessing it’s the eyelet bushing i need as well!

yeh i’ll check the nipple holder things, i did threadlock them when i built it uo but i suppose they could have worked loose, i don’t think the rim is knackered in fact i was very supprised how true it was whan i retensioned it.

I really like Dirtschool, as said it’s a very chilled film and easy to follow, i don’t think it’s particulary well filmed though with serveral section s being quite dark. The techniques are pretty basic so i’d say it was more for learner riders though having said that there was plenty of useful tips on the basics

i’m not familiar with middleburn but 110 sounds short to me, drop a line to middleburn

    swisstony

the length depends on your chainset not your frame, what’s in there at the mo, i’d say it would be either 113 or 118 for an XT chainset

not enough give for that either, i could get a half link i suppose but that’s more expense.

John, that trail has always been there and i’ve been riding that for nearly 20 years so i was suprised to hear that bikers had started using it. I think the issue that John Paul is referring to is some new tracks that are built off from there, which run down into the valley where i assume the red deer must live/hang out. I haven’t seen them myself but apparently they run down from the wall after you climb up after crossing the little wooden bridge.

Anyway yes it is really muddy there at the moment (where isn’t on blacka)!

when you say east?? where is it if your at the devils eldow crossroads with the road up on your right and DE down to the left.

I’ve seen red deer around there a few times now, lovely to see.
