thanks guys, yeh it was at night, i’m pretty sure the crank arm is still straight it was the pedal axle that bent.

ta, i’ll try going in from the back and some ptfe for good measure.

How do i go about helicoiling, is it a send off somewhere job, if so where and is it an economical option?

the only thing you can do is strip them down and see what’s up, i’d agree they may over filled but i wouldn’t have thought they’d be overfilled by that much, esp if you can still put the right air pressure in them.

they’re really easy to strip down, get back on the MArzocchi site and look at the manual

you can only get the LUST ones in 2.35 non ST and be aware the sidewalls are alot thinner than the DH ones, I gave up on mine as i kept pinching the sidewall.

I know they’re shin splints as as above i used to get them playing football a long time ago! and i hadn’t even bothered trying to run because of them since. But recently i gave it a go, as i said in some old trainers and i was fine so thought i’d grown out of it too.

The guys at the shop, i had all 3 of them assessing me, agreed with my self diagnosis and explained how the wrong shoe could cause it which made sense to me.

MTT as for target times, i wish i could do 10k in 53mins, in fact i wish i could do 10k!

Back from the shop with a new pair of shoes!

When i first went in they just assessed me standing on the floor and said i was overprenated so gave me a shoe with extra support for this. When i went back and told them about the shin splints they were very good and recorded me running on the treadmill in the shop then as we watched it back they measured the angles. Anyway it turns out i’m a bit of an odity in that even though i’m overprenated i manage to run ‘normally’. So they’ve swapped the shoes for a neutral pair and i’ll see how i get on woth those.

    fingers crossed

Yes i’ve seen that on BC’s website, i’ve emailed them for some general help and advice, waiting for a reply.

I’m going to visit that school in Rotherham that’s also on the BC site.

I’ll never use them again, they had my frame for 4 months fitting a new bottom bracket sleeve. Phoned up umpteen times to told various things and i wasn’t happy with job when it came back.

ta, i’m not into screwing them really, i run the school club for free in my spare time on a friday after school (which i started as an excuse for me, an old man! to ride the park) but as this will involve more time and paperwork hassle, I was thinking of £20 to £30.

that’s a bit more than i thought, I’m a teacher so i’ve got my CRB and i’m going to leave the insurance up to them.

thanks all, i’ve got an ACX so i’ll try that out but only on the front. I’ll look at the Big Earl’s (i’ve got some 2.5 non UST’s in those) but i think i’ll be sticking with good ole HR’s!

thanks, i’ve got a bonty to try, off you actually Rob, bit i haven’t fitted it as i thought the sidewall was a bit thin, i’ll try it on the front though if i can repair it.

they will be for my prophet and stiffee on mavic crossmax’s and 819’s, riding in the peaks, fast and clumsily!

don’t buy off the peg you’ll only end up changing everything anyway. I run my Stiffee with Pikes an a double and bash. The rest of the stuff is burly enough but with an eye on weight, tubeless crossmax/819 wheels, XTR brakes, XT drivetrain, thomson etc. It really is a do it all bike.

I built up a Spesh P3 before xmas for just the same kind of riding, i think it’s going to be ridden alot when things dry out.

Great value for money and more to the point an excellent all round bike that you can build up into anything from a lightish xc bike to a more burly light DH bike.

I don’t know what kind of person you are but watch out getting a full ‘cheaper’ bike. Last year i said i was fed up of buying bits and bobs so bought a full prophet but the only thing i haven’t upgraded is the front mech!

loved my tomahawk, mine had mag wheels like this one but mine was gold

had a skyway tuff 2 burner aswell but when things started getting serious i got one of these, a DP Firebird Delta but my kit was red. If only my dad hadn’t tipped it when i went to uni, worth a mint today

    great thread,

I had that same colour strika, a tomahawk mk11, then later BMX’s but my favourite was the commando, mine was better than this one though as it actually had a camo colour scheme

maybe no ones owned both sets of forks to give you advice? For what it’s worth i really like my pikes but then they’re coil, i wouldn’t bother with air ones and i’ve never owned any fox forks!

I’d go for high rollers as more general all rounders, i have had a couple of sets of minions but i don’t think they’re brilliant for cornering, esp if it ever drys out a bit, better on the back though but that’s mho.

Anyway whatever you go for, 60 rear 42 front

Only £614 for me though i do only buy bits and bobs from there, good job i can’t add up the money i’ve spent through here!

stato & will, i’ve heard some rollox on here over the years, whatever colour the frame doesn’t “mean” other bits have to be a certain colour, he can buy whatever stuff he likes you know.

    will, yep you’re right.

takisawa2, i know but it’s not going out if it’s muddy!

aracer, thankful for being on pedant watch, i stand corrected.

yeh, obviously i know maintenance needs doing on any bike, but it was just funny that practically everything went at the same time and that bike really seemed to suffer after a sloppy winter.

I’ve had a £17 Decathlon pack for about 5 years now, the pack has been fantastic though i’m on my 3rd bladder, currently a camelback one.

As a comparison my mate has been through at least 4 packs, Camelback and Dakine at about £60 each.
