The impact of cars was considered negligible. I don’t know if that is still the case.

Pretty much. Most highways owned by either National Highways or your Local Highways Authority are still designed to DMRB and the design criteria only takes into account commercial and goods vehicles. The design traffic in msa (million standard axles) used to determine pavement thicknesses is calculated using the method is CD224 (Google it if you fancy a read) and that only uses numbers of commercial vehicles (CV) or other good vehicles (OGV). Cars don’t figure in the equation. Smaller estate roads are slightly different and may have different design criteria

but he’s also never been that into the internet has he, so this is a change for him…

He doesn’t need to be, my understanding is that’s he’s bought the name and the IP, he’s not bought it as a going-concern and therefore he won’t be operating the webshop

From my knowledge of part H you can’t be within 5m so you won’t be able to build one at the front. I don’t believe there is any compliant way around these. You could always speak to local building control and they might be helpful If they actually have anyone there.

If you did build one you run the risk of the same problem you currently have i.e. damp soil around your foundations. In theory you also need to do percolation tests to be able to size the soaksway appropriately. I would question whether whoever came out and have a look at it understands the problem and what a “Soaksway to building regulations” actually is.

I agree with you there Morecashthandash. I couldn’t help but get excited in November and therefore feeling disappointed earlier this year but the reality is that this has already been an amazing season and it’s far from over yet.

Shimano RX8, or slightly cheaper RX6

I’m selling a pair of never worn RX6, EU45 but they come up small so don’t fit my size 10 feet. Let me know if your interested, they’re in the classifieds

I’ve only ever done short trips in the UK and have always used premier inn, just for the ease of knowing I can bring my bike in. As someone said above it’s in their policy and they also say they will direct you to bike cleaning facilities. Sounds like that may just be fluffy white towels based on someone’s experience above!

I would reiterate contacting Calibre I you want it fixed. I used them to service and fix my Tag engagement watch that suddenly stopped working. Not cheap but nothing to do with premium watches is. The repaired watch stopped working again about 1 week later. Calibre were really good at getting it sorted, said it was probably a faulty part and sorted it ASAP, it’s now been running fine for over a year. It’s where I’ll send my other Tag (inherited from my Dad) when it needs looking at

I would imagine your chances of catching one on a single breath are somewhere between zero and molluscule.

The only time it happen to me I was upstairs and my bike was in the kitchen ready for an early morning ride the next day. Load bang and a completely deflated tyre.

When I investigated the culprit was worn rim tape that had finally given out over a spoke hole which then punctured the tube. Appreciate this is slightly different and I presume you have ridden your bike today but maybe it shifted or something during the ride?

To answer a couple of questions it’s a double on the front, essentially moving the 11speed 105 hydraulic set of my road bike onto this to replace the 10 speed groupset that’s there.

I set it up last night for the 34 but in my tired state used the MTB guide rather than the road guide and left a couple of extra links in on “big-big” – need to rectify that before I go any further. Spent most of the evening sorting out cabling so this was a “one last thing before bed” moment when clearly I should have stopped a bit earlier.

I’ll set it up for the 34 and see how it goes. Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone, I’ll set it up for the 34 and see how it goes, easier to take an extra link or two out later than add one in.

In the subject of two chains, again I’ll see how I go. Neither of the cassettes are new so hopefully no problems there as they did get new chains on different bikes not long ago. Moving the groupset over to this one and trying to keep costs down as there has already been loads of stuff to spend on I didn’t plan for!

Design Museum is pretty good, even if just to look at displays of old mobile phones and play “had that one”

Yep, did that with the kids at Christmas. There’s the big wall of stuff and we had fun spotting all the things we have/I used to have. My 9 year old had no idea what a Walkman was so then had to find a cassette tape on the wall to explain what you did with it

Design museum on Kensington High Street has some interesting stuff and as with most museums, the permanent collection is free. It’s also not too big so i tend to avoid the museum fatigue that I normally get after a couple of hours walking around at a slow pace with my hands clasped behind my back.

That BBC thing is about 12 years old. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a load of rubbish at the time (I remember doing it when it first came out) but also the questions like value of property and savings are a little out of date now.

Absolutely, can’t say they didn’t deserve it and their two goals were well worked and well taken. Their keeper also wasn’t his money, especially once he got over the initial jitters, some of our shots were a bit soft but he played a blinder

Whilst it does do away with a distraction in the very close race for 2nd in the Championship I can’t help feeling that game isn’t the greatest confidence booster. 38 v 2 attempts and we lose 2-1

I also recommended CorporateSpec on the other thread, would be hard to tell my Human scale chair wasn’t new other than costing close to 1/4 what a new one from John Lewis does

    UPDATE

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went with the adhesive lined heat shrink and repaired it this afternoon. So far so good, guess we’ll wait until next Christmas now!

I’ve done this in the past with work shoes and kept one pair in the office for when I cycle and another pair at home in case I have to go somewhere straight from here. Also means they last twice as long.

Should have it with the Nike SB Portmore II shoes I bought in the sale a few years ago. Ended up being really comfortable but by the time I realised they had stopped making them

Cool, thanks all, will have a look at some options. I can put the repaired section in the weatherproof box we use for the plugs but I don’t think there is enough length to run it to the inside.

I have a soldering iron in the garage I can use.

Here’s a photo of the transformer is thisakes any difference.

I’ve run spyres ony gravel bike for 5 years and was pretty happy with them. Have only taken them off as upgrades the road bike groupset so the hydraulics off that have moved to the gravel bike. They’re never going to be as good as hydraulics but set up with jagwire outers I thought they were pretty good.

Let me know if you are interested in a cheap used set

My memory with our first one (now 9 years old) was that we did some sort of 40 minute (and multiples of) sleep pattern. Will see if I can Google it and include a link.

The problem was that it restricted our say a bit as you have to be quite rigid but it did seem to work

As above, where are you travelling from? I live on the Surrey/London boarder and a train from my local station is 11 minutes to Wimbledon. There is free parking with 5 minutes walk for the station too.

Also, having re-read the OP, are you looking for somewhere easy to get to Wimbledon or the City?

Oh, and Leeds were ace today, absolutely spanked the tractor boys. Game on!

Yeah, was grateful for the 10 point cushion. Could be a 4 point cushion by 27th since we have Leicester on Boxing day. I said up there that mid-December on was going to a tough one for us

as it happens I am – do they have a sales room that you can just call into, or is it collection only?

They have a tap room at the same premises where I have previously just turned up and made a selection from the fridges behind the bar and they’ve boxed it up for me. This time around I did a click and collect as I didn’t want to chance it with it being Christmas. Unless you are in Esher anyway might be worth giving them a call before you make the journey

I’ve got some Pure Shores and some Tropical Shores ready for collection tomorrow from Big Smoke Brewery in Esher tomorrow. Probably not a lot of good unless you’re local!

Other than that, I still recommend the Brooklyn Special Effects which I can get in my local Sainsburys and Waitrose. I quite like Lucky Saint as well, also from Sainsburys and they apparently have a new beer out but not managed to try that yet

Yeah, the firm padding is needed if it going to be used for any length of time, much like bike saddles. The first chair I got during the initial lock down was a cheap one and was really comfy to start with but after a couple of hours you could almost feel the hard base of the chair. The firmer padding now is actually really comfortable for longer sitting sessions

I picked up a refurbished Humanscale Liberty Task Chair from https://corporatespec.com for £250 about 2 years ago. It gets used 3-4 days a week and have been a great improvement.

In terms of the condition of the chair, I would be hard pushed to tell it wasn’t brand new.

No chance Millwall being able to keep us top tomorrow though.

To be honest, whilst I’m happy we’re top I’m probably happier there now 10 points between us and Leeds. Still if Millwall can spring a surprise I won’t say no

Some interesting stuff here. I have the 56s on my Camino and has to do a slight bit of bending to get it to fit between the chainstays. The main issue I have is that it creaks all the time. The stays were fixed about halfway down the seatstays but I’ve since moved them down to nearer the “dropout”. I have also bought a metal bridge and the plastic one feels a bit flexy and seems to allow the guard to move a bit

Great time to be a Town fan. Witnessing some truly excellent football under Kieran McKenna.

Agreed, I’ll take a few more of these this season

Mexican train dominos always goes down well with the in-laws, as above I also like secret Hitler but only played that with mates not family. Herd mentality was also a good one
