What diggery says. I worked on my bike on the gravel “patio” (once!). Had to sweep the area with the base of magnetic parts tray, picked up the screw eventually.

I’ll take that, can’t quite believe we managed to hang on at the end of the season. See you in the premier league!

Out of interest, and this is a genuine question not an attempt at trolling, what did you think it would cost? I had a similar reaction when I first took my car over a few years back but then got to thinking that all the infrastructure is the same whether you go to France or IoW. It’ll be just be the fuel costs that are different.

But as Morecash has said previously, just to entertaining promotion is way beyond what I’d have accepted at the beginning of the season

Unfortunately they’re not out of it yet. The way we’ve been playing lately 5 points is going to be touch and go. We need to get a win at Hull today and I’ll start feeling a happier about it but the season has caught up with us too

Credit to QPR though, they secure their safety so had something to play for. Not going to pretend I wasn’t happy to see the result 😀

So Leeds feel apart last night meaning Leicester are back to the Premier League before they’d even played this weekend and Ipswich now need 5 points out of a possible 9. I would have said that was easy but the way all the teams at the top of the Championship have been playing lately who knows. We also have two playoff chasers and a team in a relegation battle as our remaining fixtures.

Also wonder what points Leicester will start next year on…

That is true, one of reasons I’m not doing it this year. I can’t imagine the road closures and organisation are cheap but point taken, it is pricey

I think there are still spaces available for Ride London in May. 100miles, closed roads so no worry about traffic (except loads and loads of bikes), good food stops etc. and relatively flat on the essex route. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I reckon it’s good to do it once.

Only downside is location of you don’t live down this way

It’s a really cool feature, I got it on my Samsung S23 the other week. Used it a couple of times on YouTube videos to find out what something is or in one case where someone got a t-shirt they were wearing that I liked

Best brocolli I’ve ever eaten was somewhere around Kowloon Market. Fried in garlic and I presume industrial quantities of msg.

My feeling is that the lock is quite a distance from the clamp and I can’t really see how it would have anything to do with the clamp itself, obviously people who have similar bars might know more. I suspect as mert says, undo that bolt and you’ll be able to get the bars off

    swdan

Does that lock actually lock the bars on to the canopy or does it just lock access to the t-slot? That’s different things and depending on what you want to use on them you might not need to unlock them.

Appreciate you want to remove them from the canopy but that might be possible without unlocking?

I bought a Camino frame a few years ago and if you buy the complete bike I think they come with a 70mm stem for a large (off the top of my head). I just stuck a 100mm stem on it as that’s what I always use and it’s been fine, not noticed it being any worse for the sort of riding I do (southern bridleways) albeit I didn’t run a shorter one before so maybe I wouldn’t…

Was hoping Ipswich could take advantage of last nights result for Leicester and Leeds but had to settle for a draw ourselves. It’s still tighter than a tight thing at the top of the championship

@footflaps I think that’s the case but if you’re not a BC member yourself I’m not sure where that leaves the club if you were riding with them. There is a specific exemption for “guests” but if you’ve paid you club subs then clearly not a guest. I guess clubs like it as it removes that ambiguity

Only thing to add, I do feel like there has been a drop off in battery performance since the update but I could be imaging it. Battery used to be really good as phone was new in December, no feels like it drops charge a bit quicker

Not what you asked but I went S10 to S23 and am really happy with it. Latest update last week introduced the “AI” stuff if you’re interested in that. The only thing I’ve used is the search by circling what’s on the screen, that’s actually really cool and pretty handy. Was watching a YouTube video and saw someone wearing a t-shirt I liked, hold middle button then circle the t-shirt and Google tells me what it is straight away.

Curious as to why your club insist on it?

My understanding is that if you are a club member but not a BC member you are not covered by the clubs BC insurance. Re-reading the club guidelines, you are “encouraged” rather than “required”. I’ve never questioned it, the guys that run the club put a lot of time and effort in so if they asked for it I don’t feel like saying no. It’s only a small club so everyone knows everyone

That’s a difficult one though. I presume they’ve modelled it and think they can retain enough people on the increased rates to more than offset those that leave. Personally, I have it for insurance and legal cover and because my club says I need it, I don’t use any of the other benefits so for me I see savings elsewhere instead of raising prices. However, appreciate that’s just me and others will think differently depending on circumstances.

Just had similar but my membership literally just renewed last week so I have basically a whole year before I need to decide what to do. Have a feeling I have the silver membership (circa £41 a year) so not a massive increase but will need to see if I am getting any less for my money.

I do need it for club rides though so not sure what my options are

Currently running them as winter road bike tyres and really pleased with them, will be hunting out a second pair for the commuter bike when I get around to changing tyres. I just wise they did them in a wider variant as fancy some 38s+ on the commuter bike

My kids have both just got a Lenovo M11 each. Specifically because my youngest wanted one with the pen and this was the cheapest one I could find that ticked the box. Seems pretty good so far albeit they have only used them for kids stuff, nice and slick and much nicer than I remember tablets being but my last one was bought about 12 years ago!

    Not sure why 1am though.

Because that the first whole hour where its unlikely to cause any real confusion (unless in the Kyrton household!). If they change at 1am then that put them back to midnight and I imagine that has potential to confuse systems (and people) as to which day it is. 2am change puts them back to 1am so clearly still the same day as the change

Unfortunately I still expect ULEZ to do some damage. As someone who lives in the zone but right on the edge there is still quite a bit of anger about it. I’m hoping that those minorities and truly just that

Glad to hear things have improved over the last few days. Before I went on my first snowboard trip I did indoor lessons and though I could do it all. Big shock when I got out on a proper slope but I muddled through and never looked back. In my opinion the indoor stuff is useful to learn a few basics but in hindsight does not prepare you for a real slope. Generally they feel different and are obviouslyuchnlonger and often wider.

Glad you and the family have stuck with it

From memory some of the Thameslink do, they are also completely open all the way through without door between carriages. I’ll say though, as someone who travels from the Epsom area into London for work on a regular basis, depending on the day the trains could be packed.

Like others above have said, if you ride a bike regularly like (some of) those on the forum it shouldn’t be too difficult but this challenge isn’t there to inspire or motivate us. My commute to work is 23km each way, there are people genuinely amazed that I cycle sometimes. My sister recently got a bike to cycle the 3 miles to work and admitted that she struggles, she’s just not used to it. It’s for the general public and I don’t really have any problem with that. Just because we could do it doesn’t mean it’s a big feat for the majority of people out there and something they can’t fathom anyone doing. And it’s for charity so who cares providing it raises some money

Not sure if this has been posted before but this guy is doing a great job in sorting out an old V70 R. It’s a really sympathetic repair/modification series and he really seems to understand the cars. Made me head off to autotrader but then remembered the chassis on his California car is probably in a way better state than anything over here. Also, he actually has the skills to sort these things out!

It’s been pretty dry this week but parts are still anbiggy mess down here in the Surrey borders. I’ve been ill so took the chance for a chilled out ride on the gravel bike.

My bargain Wiggle Fizik winter shoes did a good job though, even had a little paddle in a stream to try and clean them off and still had dry feet

Today we can’t even get the water too go down a grid and into the system that was designed to remove water from the road.

We are frequently asked not to include certain types of drainage in our designs despite them being the most efficient type for that scenario. The reason – “They require maintenance”

All drainage require maintenance along with everything else to do with a road or pretty much any civil engineering. You can’t just fit and forget or it won’t operate properly and will eventually lead to bigger problems. As has been said, the problem is that local authorities don’t have the money anymore

If you’ve got little feet, size 36, these winter boots are an incredible deal

I got lucky and picked up a pair of these in a size 45 earlier in the week for £88, looking forward to trying them out
