Thanks reeksy, will add that to the list of things to try.

Yep, when standing and seated, creak happens on the forward revolution of the cranks, feels more noticeable on the drive side *I think*

    @reeksy
    – sorry, I don’t understand what you mean. What would the water do?

Today’s fettling included regressing and torquing the thru axles, greasing and tightening pedals and tightening chainring bolts and the creak is still there. Hopefully over the weekend I’ll swap wheelsets and see what happens

I read it the other day and I have a feeling you can’t use existing accounts or something similar (would need to Double check T&C’s). For that reason I pretty quickly binned the idea of trying to convince my friends to club together and reduce our existing subscription cost

I did wonder about that but no sign of him when I turned around

Good point, I have different wheelset with road tyres on them. Might put them in a see if that makes a difference. Thanks for all the ideas, will go fettle in the garage over the weekend.

Beat(le)s the buyer of my TRP Spyres paying me over 2 weeks ago but despite various messages to them through here still not providing me a postage address.

Only happens when I pedal so assumed something drivetrain related but will check the wheels and thruaxles as well

Thanks. Not the shoes as wore them on the road bike and no problem.

    Will check chain ring bolts

Tested positive for COVID yesterday, currently laid up on the sofa. Why did it have it happen on a rest day, WHY!

I’m sorry for your situation. My only advice is not to leave anything unsaid, tell her how you feel, thank her for what’s she’s done and she’ll understand.

My Dad died relatively unexpectedly just over 2 years ago, due to COVID I wasn’t allowed in to see him for the 6 weeks he was in hospital. The exception being why he was in the ITU but he was sedated so wasn’t able to talk back. I tried my best to say good bye and tell him how I felt but he was pretty young (65) and we all expected him to pull through. He came out of the ITU and I wasn’t able to see him again, e also couldn’t talk on the phone so I never got to properly speak to him. It is the biggest regret of my life.

Just tell her how you feel but don’t beat yourself up, you have been there with her and she will appreciate that

Regarding the VCLS, I believe you are supposed to do some increased maintenance, i.e. remove it every so often and clean between the leaves. Doesn’t sound too onerous but also something I’m likely to forget to do.

I’ve taken Iainc up on the offer, looks like a very similar post to the one ony Tarmac which I really like

@iainc will have a look into it but potentially yes. Cheers

I would love a VCLS but secondhand are like hens teeth and about £150. Not sure how I feel about AliExpress carbon, appreciate it’s probably made in the same factories but at least you have some comeback if it comes from a known brand and you expect some decent QC

Reading that link the specs at the bottom say 27.2 so pretty sure I’m right.

Pretty sure, mine is a 2020 (actually the same as this https://singletrackworld.com/gritcx/2020/06/sonder-camino-al-miles-of-comfort-and-fun/)

The dubbed voices sound a bit daft at times.

Agreed, I found it much better in the first series to switch to subtitles, at least you get the original audio, you just have to pay attention and try not to do stuff on your phone at the same time.

Standard answer on here is Calibre – https://calibrewatchrepair.com/

I had my tag serviced there after it stopped and came fully working and looking great. It did stop working again soon after but the tool it back (as you’d expect) and replaced some of the faulty new parts. All done quickly and it’s been fine since.

Edit to add – worth dropping them a message to see what they say, they were very responsive when I had initial queries

Boardman has been given a CBE so getting closer.

Still, if he’s OK with it then so am I.

If IRC he has previously said he didn’t want one whilst Vennells still had hers. Her CBE was revoked earlier in the year. I get you point though and I presume he’s given it some thought and is ok with it. He doesn’t strike me as a man to accept something like that if he’s not happy about it

They have been saying they’ll be doing it soon for the past 2 years. I gave up holding my breath and abandoned plans for a french cycle. Will be nice when they finally get it sorted

@willard absolutely, as a child growing up there in the 80s I didn’t really realise how run down it was getting as I just enjoyed being by the sea but as I got older you could just tell it was falling apart. I left properly just over 20 years ago and didn’t really miss the place apart from being close to my family. However in the last few years there has been money flowing back in, the seafront is improving with new things being built and the town is getting a better high street albeit The shops reached a proper low a few years back so anything is an improvement

@willard Whenever I go back to visit my mum I’m told that Felixstowe is the next Southwold. Obviously it’s nothing like Southwold but I do appreciate that there aren’t really any other towns along that stretch of Suffolk cost for people to invest in so apparently the money is coming (you can already see money being spent in some places) and then who knows…

It is at the end of a road though albeit one that provides pretty good transport links until high winds close the bridge. Then you’re not going anywhere

Good to hear, I got mine when this style of super six first came out (think it was one of the first 105 versions to arrive) and it spent time back in the shop being looked at as well as “someone from Cannondale” coming to take a peek as well. A shop ride, coincidentally with Sigma – not where the bike came from, was the final straw as people (including the shop mechanic) kept asking me what wasaking the horrible noise. I was given the option to return it and ended up spending my money on a Tarmac from sigma in the end. I did like the Super six though, just a shame it sounded like it was going to snap all the time

My eyes are set on a Supersix next I think

You won’t be disappointed, very happy with mine.

Have the sorted the really noisy creaking seat post issue? My early 2020 one was so bad it went back after 2 weeks and I bought a tarmac. The advice from Cannondale was to torque the seat clamp bolt to 8-9Nm when it only had 5 (irc) written on it.

I get what you’re saying, I guess I always used to associate San Martin with Sub or Black Bay homages which were slightly more obvious and not my thing

Quite fancy an orange one of these for a fun summer watch. Normally don’t look at San Martin as not that fussed about a homage watch but am quite liking their original design stuff at the moment

One season in the PL please, maybe a couple of “upsets” against the big clubs, and then we can go back to Championship mediocrity

Absolutely, I’m under no illusions that were too small for his ambition and ability but I’d like one season in the PL to see what he can do. I suspect we’ll get relegated and he can go off to bigger and better things then.

As above, he gets linked to everything at the moment – Brighton, United, Chelsea. Am a little bit nervous about it all but hopefully we can get him to stay for a season.

As an Ipswich fan I’m beginning to get a bit fed up with every vacant (or nearly vacant) spot being linked to McKenna. Yes he’s good but give us a season in the prem with him. I don’t doubt he’ll move onto bigger and better things but not just yet please.

    Hames Joffman spoof a/c.

YouTube shut that account down despite James Hoffman getting in contact with them say saying he gives permission and wants it to remain. Apparently YouTube said James would have to take legal action or something such nonsense.

No idea with Barclays but to answer your original question, we did it Nationwide earlier this year and it took about 15 minutes. Log in to the mortgage account, confirm we don’t want to borrow more money, select the product we want and the confirmation documents arrive in my inbox shortly afterwards.

We fixed as soon as we could (6 months out) and as rates were coming down, when they had dropped by 0.8% I called them up and cancelled the new deal which was yet to start then did the whole process again on the lower rate. Including the call to cancel the deal and then to select a new one that was only about 1/2 hour.

At 80kg(ish) running g Goodyear Eagle F1 tubeless their online calculator was saying 66 front 71 rear for 28s in dry conditions. May obviously vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but I thought it was a pretty good resource anyway, albeit it was running those pressures I had the above issues so who knows… Not sure if continental has something similar

Peatys is rubbish on road despite what the reviews say. It also has loads of “platelets” in it already so not sure glitter would help. I was running my road at 70psi, two rides where punctures didn’t seal and I had to put a tube in as couldn’t get the anchovie to work either. This came with the associated faff of sealant everywhere and taking ages. I understand dynaplug are supposed to be better and I suspect this is all down to used error.

In the end have gone back to tubes with Specialized Roubaix Pro tyres. All good here and I know where I stand with tubes. I know they feel different but after a ride you get used to it and forget what it was like before
