I bought a granite designs cricket. not cheap wish I’d done it years ago. Ace for shared path use.

I second this, great little bell and well made

No bike shown in this but this was from my Vineyard loop this morning.

The preview photos are low res, if you click on them you get higher res.

I’m also not fussed about it and feel like it’s slightly overpriced. In my head it’s nothing better than a good Ali express watch which you can get loads cheaper. I may be wrong on that and I appreciate he can’t compete on scale to with some of those companies but unfortunately that’s who he’s up against

That’s not dissing GPs by the way, just not sure what they will do apart from being another step in the chain and they’re probably juggling enough stuff

I’m not sure what your GP is going to do other than send you to A&E. When I broke my collar bone away from home (but still in the UK) they gave me a sling and some pain killers and told me to go to the fractures clinic at my nearest hospital when it opened on the Monday morning. They then did an x-ray and gave me a better sling.

I doubt the GP will want to see you

You say the tyres are limited by the rims, what width rims do you have? I know that now one would buy wide rim for wide tyres but it wasn’t always like that, I reckon you might be able to stick something wider on if you have the clearance which you suggest you do.

As others have said, when we got our new one installed it was a condition of the warranty. It’s now out of warranty but to be honest, for the relatively little amount of money it costs me each year I’m happy to pay for the peace of mind it’s all ok. I appreciate that might be a waste of money but I’m happy to do it

We’ve see the kingfishers and the little egrets but out on the river (Hogsmill or Tolworth Brook?) by Horton in Epsom when heading out that way on the cx bikes, they’re pretty cool.

Will keep an eye out, planning heading that way on the gravel bike tomorrow

I can remember as a child this bit of the Wandle being pretty turgid with. bid waste paper site polluting the area in general

When I first moved to South Wimbledon just over 20 years ago it was a bit of a dump (literally at times). The work from Morden Hall park all up through Earlsfield has been a great improvement, the colliers Wood bit by the Saver center is trolley free! It’s great to see things going in the right direction, was in Morden Hall at the weekend and reminded me how nice it is now

Apologies if stating the obvious but couldn’t see it clarified above so wanted to clear it up in case.

    @funkydunc
you mention using your phone to buy tickets, assuming you mean from a ticket office or machine then you just use it like a normal payment card and can of course use it to buy a rocket for both you and your son.

However if ,as I suspect, you mean using it to tap in and out at the barriers (effectively pay as you go and what everyone else is talking about above) then you will not be able to use the same phone for both you and your son, you can only use it for one person. Might be easier to just buy him a travel card and you do the PAYG via phone

Wheny Dad died a couple years ago my youngest was a similar. Both her and her sister were sad they hadn’t seen him for a while (hospitals were still being strict about COVID, even I couldn’t visit him) so I would say if she is able to talk to them it might be worth a visit.

They also took, and still take, great comfort in a book called “The invisible string”. Unfortunately my kids have had to cope death that I would expect by their age and it’s a really nice book about the feeling of love continuing even when people are no longer around

I’m keen for some orange in my watch collection but would like something not too full on. I keep coming back to this as something relatively cheap with the ability to swap back to the bracelet to having something a bit more reserved. I also only have one other bracelet watch. I get they’re a Chinese brand posing as an American one and they’re arguably not worth fill price but some of the offers make them tempting

Are you in Kingston or just nearby? Depending where you are my cycle club, Sutton Velo, might be worth looking into. Meets near Worcester Park, first Saturday of the month is a more chilled out ride, second Saturday is a longer ride. During summer there are fortnightly Wednesday night social rides with a beer stop.

Works well for me with a young family as I don’t feel I need to commit every weekend or even all day to club riding.

If you fancy more info let me know, not sure eif the DM function here works atm

@zippykona knowing roughly where you are based, Carbon Bike Repair in Leatherhead did a good job for me on my Tarmac, however it’s not cheap and I was lucky that the insurance was paying for it. Once done you couldn’t tell it had even cracked before

Yep, 4-1, not too disappointed with that, think I’m still in “happy to be here” mood. If that carriers on like that all season it might be a bit depressing but I’m hoping there’s some points in there somewhere

I too hope we don’t get slaughtered today but equally everyone has to play everyone and I view last week and this week as getting tow of the harder games out of the way early. It might be nice to have had a couple of games where we stood a chance of a result as a bit of a confidence booster but listening to the team talk they’re fairly pragmatic and I like to think McKenna will take those on the chin and learn from them anyway

The issue is that despite being set to loop record over the oldest file first, when the cards got full they just stopped recording but there was no way of knowing. People in August were checking their cards off the back of the thread and finding the last recording on there was from June and such like. Some had to get firmware updates and some bought new, higher quality cards and I think that solved the issue.

@lunge, I did start to worry about cracks but I can’t see anything. Need to give it another proper clean before dropping it off at the shop so will inspect it again then

Am at work now so will have to look later, however from memory it’s in the recess when not pressed and “drops down” when you press it

It’s a Sonder Camino, aluminium frame. Not suling anything out so could be that I guess. To be honest, it’s time to pass it into a shop to look at, I’ve spent too much time on this already!

A sort of update. In addition to all the things above I have also tried a third set of wheels and it’s still there. It’s going into Balfes on Saturday for a full strip and rebuild service, hopefully that will sort it. I don’t have the time or more importantly the energy to chase this thing around any longer.

@TheLittlestHobo I think it was your thread that first made me look into them (not for wife spying duties I might add!). Glad to hear you’ve not had any issues. I like the idea of an easy install and am tempted to even give the back on a go myself as well. They have confirmed that both front and back can work off the power near the mirror unless you want parking cams which I don’t think I’m worried about.

    @FuzzyWuzzy
interestingly it was a polestar forum that flagged the issues with loop recording. One of the solutions seemed to be using your own, higher quality card so you may have inadvertently solved that one yourself.

When I worked for a large contractor who sadly no longer exists our tree surgeons had to be let go for failing the “random” drugs test. It was weed if I remember rightly. Not sure how random the tests were, think it was the tree guys and most people under 25

Octopus contacted me about a smart meter last week due to my current meter being past it use by date. Went to book a slot and there are none available so will have to wait and see what all the fuss is about

Oooh, that would be good. Might hold off placing a tailfin order for a bit (been holding off for about a year due to cost so probably won’t be hard!)

    swdan
    Free Member

These look good but have noticed the optional seat stay mounts say not suitable for carbon frames. It’s a shame as I am looking for something that’s easy to swap between my gravel bike and my carbon road bike (without mounting points). Tailfin looks like the only real option but struggling to justify the cost, thought this might have been the solution

Discovery+ (well, Disney, who own them)

Thanks, was stating the same yesterday about the lack of BBC coverage on iplayer and knew there was a reason but couldn’t remember from last time.

Corrections corner though, Discover is owned by Warner Brothers not Disney

I can’t stand the man but I do have to admire the presence of mind to get that photo op. If someone had just shot me (and he was hit, albeit “only” in the ear) I would be cowering away reassessing my life choices and wondering where to get a clean pair of trousers. I would not be capable to leading all those people in a chant of support

Yep, me and my wife tested positive last weekend. Did the tests because why not. Was supposed to be going away with a mate who is regularly visiting his FiL who has cancer and is understandable trying to stay clear of stuff like this. Testing meant I cancelled the trip but I’d rather that than give it to someone who is likely to be more affected by it that me.
