    Really is quite attractive.

I had one for a few months and while it was nice to ride I found it a bit flexy. It also seemed to work better with a 100mm fork.

Stumpy01 … as long as the torch has a waist the lockblock should work.

Once you have it sorted it's sorted. 2 velcros … to an extent it depends on the helmet, but works ace with my Veleno. While the Joystick mount is great, I couldn't justify spending £130 when I can get very similar performance for £40. I don't notice it's minimal weight at all on my head and it's so much better than my Lumis were, without cables to catch in branches, getting pulled out at awkward moments!

Same goes for the Deal Extreme P7. Sure it's a torch, but the advantage of having no cables is liberating.

Fenix L2D on a Twofish Lockblock:

Combined with a DX P7 on one of their cheapo bar mounts this it the most flexible and powerful set of lights I've owned. Oh … and it's the cheapest.

Sorry chum. Must get your mobile numba. It'll be another classic this Sunday if the weather allows – Torridon or Skye.

Gonna do a sneaky spin around Golspie tomorrow after work as I'm up there tomorrow. It's a tough life.

Don't really do 'events' TBH. When is it anyway?

Great day troopers … my shin's still a bit sair tho.

    Ton, is this the Chumba?

The Alfine you are getting doesn't use any frame cable stops. It's a full length outer and just zip ties onto the frame.

Any joy with a rim yet?

It's an 18t on the hub at the moment Ton … I think.

Crash Gav and me did a Tour de Cairngorms earlier this year and had Braemar to Blair Atholl as our easy middle day. The middle section from the watershed was a joy. Totally rideable once you get your head round the drop on your left. Rare opportunity to follow a river from source to its end (confluence with the Garry) on a bike.

What are those tyres Ton? Is it this you are looking for the Alfine for?

Yep … I agree with others … definitely something to hide if you wear a beard. If you wear a beard AND tinted glasses you are probably a serial killer (or at least potentially one) and I'll never take anything you say as the truth.

    Only my opinions of course.

I must confess I get quite upset by the poor spelling and grammar I find littered throughout the forums.

Oh, and I don't like getting called "matey". It's well **** IMHO!

Well I flogged my Lumis last winter in favour of a bar mounted P7 from Deal Extreme and a helmet mounted Fenix L2D from the Photon shop. Absolutely no regrets (or wires for that matter). I could easily get away with just the P7, but I had the Fenix already.

Product support at SITS isn't an issue for me (that was a joke, yeah?).

Ek … sure it doesn't have the bite of a Minion, but it doesn't have the bulk either. I rattled down Fyrish earlier on them … the only skid happened when I turned 90 degrees at speed in Novar where they'd newly spread gravel on the path up to the estate office. Both wheels went together, but it was easily controlled.

I also have a pair of Larsens which are fabulous too. I've thought about Larsen F/Crossmark R, but have never got around to it.

2 DH racers I know have them on their (7 inch!) XC bikes and rave about them. I hear they are massive on the continent. I know Gordy wasn't so keen, but he tried the 2.25. I reckon the 2.1 has more bite that the bigger tyre. The same thing is apparently true of SB8s.

Try them … they don't look like they will work, but they do. Happy to give you a turn of mine. They're on light rims (5.1d) but the hubs are bolted.

Ek, I'm running 2.1 Crossmarks on the lighter wheelset for the 26ers (LUST) and on the 29er. Both setup tubeless with latex. Been really impressed. Like most Maxxis tyres I find them excellent on wet rock. I was the only one who rode the climb out of Glen Golly at the weekend (on a hardtail with Crossmarks on). The 29er is like a different bike.

Not so good on muddy peat, but hey …

Mmm … mine doesn't have any mounts up top, either on the wishbone or seatstays, but it was from the first batch!

Sorry for duff info, it was clearly sorted in later production runs. The EX1 will still work well.

Hi Sam, okay if I get one of these forks at that price via my LBS (Singular partner store)? I have a wee bit of credit :¬)

The position of the brake on my Sand Inbred 29er frame means I would be able to use a standard-fit rack (i.e. not a shimmed, disc rack). The frame doesn't have any mounting holes on the seatstay or wishbone however.

I think the Blackburn EX1 comes with clip mounts that should fit.

The medium Lynskey would also have given a better comparison. The large would be a gate to me at 6', but the angles sound about right.

So yes, you'd need a medium.

But surely the ride is the same as reported? Ben is taller than you

But is the rest of the "test squad" taller than me? Only real neg in the review is about standover and seatpost dropping which would be taken care of by a 17". I'm guessing the ETTL is like 23.5" on the medium of both bikes which is about right for me.

All this is arithmetic anyway … yer mmmBop is more on my horizon.

I'm after a tent for me, the wife and the wee lad to take a holiday out west the week after next. I like the idea of that SunnCamp Prism, but any other recommendations or offers would be appreciated. I'm in Highland BTW.

Thanks and sorry for the hijack muffin.

Torridon for me. Over to Annat and back from Achnashellach most likely. Should manage to sneak a beer or two in there too.

I think it looks sweet. If they use the stuff that’s on the wood at Balblair you wont slip on it.

Must get down to it soon … I think a 2-dayer with the Devil’s Staircase/Ceiran Path is in order. Might even sandwich in a night in the Clachaig.

Crossmark 2.1 LUSTs wi Stans Solution on 5.1Ds here. Great fast rolling combo and fine on the front too. I have a heavier set of wheels/tyres too tho for Torridon rides.

Aye, it’s not chain stretch. It happened in a few hundred yards of village street. I just need to be firmer with the spanner I guess.

… or run the fork with a bit more sag. Mine’s not bad at all at woodsy ST, but it’s better at all the way up and all the way down. Contrary to what some say I think it’s a great climbing bike.

My N95 8GB is so good I think I’ll forego an upgrade in a coupl of months.

ebay! Stupid not to (no offence)

Or drop to a less than a tenner sim-only deal rather than £25 a month?

Thanks for the tip cynic-al, but I’m on the ball.
