Steve, we'd be very interested in seeing photos if you've got any.

NickyB, did you buy that out there and sell it on when you came home? We're planning on going to New Zealand too, but are thinking of doing that as a bike tour.

Surfer – we're going to Vanfest too.

We are planning on living in it for a while, as we're thinking of leaving our jobs and going around Europe until our money runs out. We'll only be able to afford a converted van, but it's a step up in luxury from our original plan of bike touring.

    Thanks guys.

Epicsteve, that's a nice one, I like the garage.

We are thinking about a T4/5 or Transporter. Mog, do you just lock your bikes to the rack overnight then? We were wondering about storing bikes under the bed. How reliable are the VW's?

I've been waiting for a pair of Pro 3's on Stan's 355's from Winstanley's since early May. First delivery estimate was 28 May, then last week, now it's 12 July.

Something called Local Housing Allowance was brought in a couple of years ago. This meant that the benefit is now paid to the claimant, rather than the landlord. It didn't change for existing claimants, but anyone new to benefits from April 08 now has it paid direct to them. The website says payment is not normally made to the landlord, but in some cases they may be able to do this. See here.

Like v10 says, fantastic picture but sound is terrible. After reading reviews on Amazon, we knew this, but other half said it didn't matter coz he would connect his Harmon Kardons up to it. TV arrived and there was no where to plug them in, thought we were going to have to spend a fortune on some digital speakers, but managed to find the right connectors to connect them to the PS3. Sound is still crap on TV, but we watch dvds and play games more than we watch tv.

Does the Panasonic one leave a hole in the bread where the dough hook's been? I make mine by hand, but sometimes I don't want to have to stay in to get it in the oven at the right time. I borrowed my mum's breadmaker one time, but it left a massive hole in the middle.

It comes from the Council's budget. They may fund it from underspends in other areas, or may put a freeze on certain other budgets to pay for it. I doubt very much that the council would fund the gritting of people's driveways. The grit would be there for roads and pavements.

When I broke my elbow earlier this year several people said "I always knew exercise was a bad idea". My mum said "why can't you ride the sort of routes your sister rides?" (ie sustrans/old railway lines).

"You must be mad!" Although they also say this about me walking 1 mile to work – "I wouldn't want to walk that far!"

I'm sure I recognised someone's house from a picture posted on here with a £3k+ bike in the picture. I'm not sure if I was right, but we both thought it was the same house. Luckily for the poster, we're not theives.

Police do **** all around here. A 16 year old lad was going to hit a 4 year old until my boyfriend's 12 year old neice intervened, so he hit her instead. Police were contacted but did nothing. Her brother ended up having to sort him out.

The world population in the 50's was 2.5 billion, it is now approaching 7 billion. Where I live, farm land has recently been sold to builders, I'm sure that is probably happening throughout the UK and the world. How large does the population have to get before you are worried about how we and future generation are going to be able to feed ourselves?

    No.

The guy didn't say people shouldn't have any kids and neither did alot of people on here. We are going to get to the point where there is not enough food to feed everyone on the planet, therefore people will die. Oh well, we'll probably be alright in the Western world, who cares if millions of people in other parts of the world die of starvation.

I was hoping to stay in Morzine during the TDF, was hoping it wouldn't book up that quickly.

There is a bus, but I'm not too sure on details, I don't think it was that frequent. The Supermorzine lift runs from Morzine towards Avoriaz, but not right to it, there's still a fairly long walk (it never seemed that far on a bike), but the lift is not too far from the road, so they could watch part way up.

They need to be wary of the lifts closing though. I did a fair bit of walking this year as I'd broken my arm and couldn't ride, I met my boyfriend and his mates at the restaurant in Linderettes (below Avoriaz), but a storm broke out just as we got there, they didn't open the lift back up until 4pm, I had to run from Avoriaz to catch the lift back into Morzine before it shut for the day, otherwise it would've been about a 10 mile walk down the road and I'd already walked 8+ miles that day. I got there in time, but the lift had broken and they told me they didn't think it would be fixed that day, luckly they did manage to fix it. I would imagine they would keep the lift open longer on that day.

The was a STW ride at Cannock a few years ago. It was split into 2 groups before we left the car park, but even then it was a huge group.

He's simply wrong about the liability proposals. He either doesn't understand them or is deliberately misrepresenting them to inflame the passions of his readers, either is pretty poor. Although it is the Daily Mail.

What are the proposals? I've done a google search and everything I find is just quoting the Daily Mail.

Greg, I wish that limited edition one was available when I bought mine, it's absolutely gorgeous.

Househusband, how have your ebay bearings lasted? Also, are they easy to replace yourself, do you need special tools?

Anyone taken theirs to Sshockwave for the bearings to be replaced, if so, how much did they charge?

I'm in Leicestershire – middle of everywhere, close to nowhere!

Me too! And not a great choice of legal off road trails.

Getting off and walking is good. Sometimes it's good to try and push yourself to see what you can ride, but if you're really not that happy riding it, then don't, as you will tense up and possibly fall off. I'm sure I would never have ridden that plank on my first mtb ride.

I was a reasonably confident rider, but I broke my arm at Sherwood Pines back in June, I did my first off road riding since then the other evening and I was incredibly nervous, so much so that I really didn't enjoy myself.

My main gripe is not that cyclist shouldn't be allowed there, I do think there should be restrictions as it's a very busy area. My annoyance is that cyclists often get blamed for things without any proof. It seems like just because they've caught some cyclists there, it must be them that's caused the damage.

    Susie
    Free Member

This article has really annoyed me. They don't know how the damage to the trees/undergrowth has occured but decided to blame it on cyclists. I've walked here and the trails aren't narrow enough to cause any damage to the undergrowth if you ride through. It does get busy so I can understand the conflict with other users and that is why I don't ride here. I can't see how cyclists would cause anymore damage than walkers or those using mobility scooters. And the nearby dedicated cycle path at Beacon Hill is about a 1.5 mile circuit, yeah, that should keep us happy.

I have a reaction if I have too much soya too, so I either have Muesli with hot water or toast with peanut butter, honey or jam. When I could have soya I just had breakfast cereals with soya milk on, or fruit with soya yogurt.
