I’ve heard there is a big Sram consignment on there for one distributor. I don’t doubt there’ll be other stuff on it as well.

Will it make as massive difference to supply…

    Probably not..

I kept an eye out for you driving home just in case….

I’d suggest a piece of cardboard with Staveley written on it would make a useful addition to the emergency kit…….

Thanks man…. Very nice of you… Unless it was to gloat and wave as you drove by 😂

As I was trudging along I did think of how handy a pen and a bit of paper would of been… I’ll add that to my packing list for next time.

Coincidentally, my insurance renewal has just come through and Pedalcover offer a £100 taxi reimbursement. not sure if you are with them or another cycling specific insurance company – worth checking if you can claim it back.

That’s a good suggestion. I wouldn’t of thought to check that.

Not needed now though as the frame supplier has kindly paid for the taxi and is getting the frame picked up for repair…👍

In fairness, you were some sort of epic adventurer 🙂 . That could not have happened at a worse point on the route.

    Yeah…. Was a bit unlucky wasn’t it.

You should of seen them though… They were buzzing… Just couldn’t believe I’d ridden so far then slept on the hills 😂 I guess it was their first time out of London.

The real adventures were the paragliding guys you may of seen.
It was a cross country event around the lakes but the lack of wind meant they basically walked the route carrying their paragliders! I gave one bloke my water as he was desperate and another guy had those proper wobbly looking legs as he was trudging up Wrynose…

Did the guy with the snapped titanium frame we saw near Hardknott get back to Staveley?

    I’m alive!

Pushed up then down Hardknott, got my photo taken with some amazed London based tourists who thought I was some sort of epic adventurer 😂, pushed along what I’m now calling death valley then up and down Wrynose. Finally got phone signal then a £50 taxi back to Staveley.

    Cheers for saying hello 👍

What a weekend though….. Was class. More gutted I couldn’t carry on riding. Was loving it.

You need some help with this OP. Fighting anxiety and depression alone is hard work. You end up in an echo chamber with your thoughts. It’s hard to break the cycle

Try the NHS talking therapies as it’s free but if the waiting list is long and you can afford it go private. You then get to choose who you see… Getting on with the person is very important to you making progress so “shop around” if you need to. The NHS route doesn’t let you do this and you only get a few sessions anyway.

Something that big I would sew back together then patch on the inside with a tyre patch.

Kynren at 11arches starts up again in August. Is quite the show and well worth a look. The kids and yourselves will be impressed.

Yeah these are definitely a bad design revision.

Guess what. It’s from cost cutting.

Previous levers appear to be cast these newer ones are stamped and folded.

    Poor form Shimano..

Hopefully they’ll noticed the failure rate at some point and go back to the previous design.

Stretching and ball massage with a numb hand?? 😉

It’s the stretching that helps… I just like my balls massaged while I’m on 😂

As it’s only one wrist, could it be something off the bike that’s aggravating it?

Had a similar issue last year. Hand was going numb when riding.Spent a fortune on new bits for the bike I’d been riding for years with no problems before trying to solve it.

Went to a physio. Found tight muscles in upper back and shoulder I had no idea were tight. She off handedly mentioned it was something she sees in people who sit on computer all day at work.

It clicked. Was lockdown and I was on the tablet a lot at night using that hand to swipe….

Stretching and ball massage eventually sorted it. Took ages mind you but no numb hand anymore….

I use Vittoria Barzo front and Mezcal rear. Copied what I was seeing on bikepacking.com bikes.

Been a good combo. Barzo offers good grip off-road up front and the near solid centre section on the Mezcal on the rear is very fast rolling.

Grind rust out with knotted wire disc as much as possible, Fertan rust converter for any rust you missed, then zinc rich 2 part epoxy primer followed by epoxy top coat then paint colour of choice

With this being the rain gutter I’ll be wanting to keep the surface level with the rest of the area. What part of your above process would I put the filler in if needed?

It’s my trusty and only slightly rusty kangoo…

Odd that it’s only happened in this one section of rain gutter near the back. Rest of the van is near perfect and it’s 12 years old.

You need to chill on the whole disappointed with your experience thing here. This is the maddest time the bike industry has ever been through.

Everyone is trying their best. You won’t be getting messed around here.

You think this is bad.. just wait utill summer when you can’t get brake pads, chains etc!

Just let this be a lesson as to why n+1 is always a good thing.

May be incorrectly installed with pad material against pistons at first. Mistake was realised due the horrific noise!

I think you have to drop to X5 now. They don’t do anything above that anymore.

It’s all about 11 and 12sp for SRAM now.

    Edit:

Looks as if they do a 10sp GX mech as well. You’ll need long cage which ever you pick

Yoga and most importantly for me sacking off the couch….

Modern furniture is designed to look good not be ergonomically good for you.

Bought a more upright supportive chair and have seen massive improvements.

Just need a smoking jacket and copy of the times to finish the look!

Don’t think anyone has mentioned higher road tax yet. Don’t forget about that.

Caught me out when I got my van. Assumed I’d get it cheap as it’s a small van with a small engine.. nope £250 odd year..

I think it’s that much if the van has a 1 ton or greater capacity.

Got a nice surprise working on a new C1 version last week. Expected to have to do a full service but they’ve put a vent valve on it to remove the squish. Worked a treat

shimano deores, I’m very small, often muddy sloppy conditions – especially now,

I am riding pretty steep stuff, people would probably call them enduro trails these days. I think I’d be happy with 6 months, 3/4 seems a so little.

Anyone have any experience with the cheap ebay pads?

My guess is your using the Shimano organic pads.

I’ve found on the rear especially they can wear pretty quickly. You tried the sintered yet?

You and craig5 have kinda loosely described me there…

It’s hard work having long mental health problems.

I can truck along along ok most of the time now I’ve better coping strategies but introduce stress in any form and it can set me off again. Relationships being one of them.

She’ll most likely want it to work out but her head will be exploding at the moment, it’s awful..I’d do the exact same thing and push the other person away

Honestly. Be compassionate to her situation but back off and be prepared for nothing to happen. If you want, give her the option that you’ll be there if she wants to try again but don’t put any pressure for that to happen. Let her contact you. You can’t fix her and it doesn’t just go away especially if she is a long termer like me.

I took a look at the tyres that were on the bikes on bikpacking.com…..

A lot of them favour the Vittoria Mezcal.

Didn’t look like a front tyre to me so paired it up with a Vitoria Barzo up front.

I’ve been very impressed with them but they may not have the sidewall support your after. Worth a look though it you fancy something different

A 150mm knipex has earned its place in my front pocket of my work apron.

Used for all sorts of jobs on the cheap or older bikes our shop works on.

I’m thinking those who are knocking them maybe don’t have a set? They really don’t slip or damage anything if used correctly. They’ve never let me down and are always at hand.
I’ve got a drawer of spanners which see just as much use though.

I’m moving to a shop where I’ll mainly be working on newer stuff and I think the knipex will be gathering dust there. Never use them on my bikes.

Never used molegrips on a bike

Hex keys all day long but the little rachet comes in handy for hard to access stuff.

If i wear a gilet i don’t because i look like silly and it’s uncomfortable

    Why do they do it?

    Simple

Because it’s a comfortable place to rest your arms. I do it with my work apron. Won’t work with a gillet as there isn’t enough room.

I do some group rides but there’s not many about at the moment so I’m pretty much riding solo 98% of the time.

I’d guess this is your main problem.

Riding buddies distract you from the repetition of your local spots.

likely cost circa £40 plus before the £50+ for the work at a guess

    Classic Yorkshireman. Tight as….😂

Go on then. What did the local repair cost? I’d be surprised if it was less than £90
