if woodwork is your hobby then working as a carpenter is ‘doing your hobby for a career’ but selling tools, materials or services to woodworkers isn’ ***, its just doing a job in a field that you are interested in. (*** unless what you really enjoy about woodwork is hanging around in tool shops.)

    That sums up my experience.

I work in a bike shop but it in no way interferes with or degrades my experience when riding.

Don’t think they have extra thread they look like they have the same amount as 12mm nips but with extra unicorn magic .

I cut a squorks and normal 12mm nipple in half out of interest.

Can confirm they are the same except for the extra bit on top for the squorks.

    @continuity

Got mine in max terra in 2.6 on the front of the rigid. Ran both at 14 psi for comfort.

I felt a noticeable difference in rolling resistance. So it passed my test…

I recently swapped to a maxxis reckon from a barzo…

Despite it not looking like it should it rolls better than the barzo and has way more cornering grip

I think you need an Internet signal for the app to open which makes it pointless for me. Im currently trying outdoor active.

Incorrect. Just tried. It opens and shows the map area I downloaded yesterday on airplane mode..

Also reading those terms above I should get full UK access even though I only bought tiles from viewranger?

    Had anyone else found that…

I can’t tell yet as like I said I agreed to the free 3 months premium.

    Here’s my thinking.

Like everyone I loved viewranger. Gutted they sold out but hey, I’d of done the same with a big enough cheque…

I’ve transferred my account over and will give the free 3 months a go.. I’m not that interested in signing up long term just for this to happen again at some point.

I’ve hedged my bets and took the offer above on the official OS app.

Not expecting great things from both of them but at least with OS app I’m protected from a future sell out…. Maybe!

I already don’t like them.. I want my tiles back… The download map area is awkward on both apps ….

Bloody change… What good ever came of that 😂

    @jim853

I’m ment to be going to Hamsterley for the first time tomorrow. I hope they’re clear.
The wind speed’s ment to drop tomorrow morning but I’m a bit worried about having the bike on the roof bars in a 30mph Cross wind.

We had to turn around today. Trees down on the forest road so access blocked (this was the grove entrance)

Supposed to be calmer in the morning but It’ll be a mess up there I bet. Was taking a battering.

    Maybe have alternate plans.

How about this for a theory, as usual accurate diagnosis is difficult without having the brake in front of me.
The hose has a kink in it, this will allow fluid down due to the pressure applied by the lever, the fluid will not be able to return to the master cylinder as the hose is too constricting, therefore, the calliper is constantly pressured?

    My money is on this.

Just because you can’t see the hose kinked on the outside doesn’t mean it isn’t inside..

Not personally but know someone who had to wait a year and a bit to get an incomplete bike due to parts shortages.

They’re was constant lack of communication and the end result looks like a dogs dinner… A mish mash of parts and colours. I’d of been gutted spending that much to end up with what he got…

Bad time to be buying something like that from a small manufacturer I’d say..

Check stock levels and try for firm delivery dates with them if you do go for it.

Wasn’t the sudden shift to the plane crash in Wales something to do with the money running out or production problems?

Remember reading something at the time and it explained the feeling that I’d just watched two different films in one.

My experience from working in a shop is it’s a doddle there as you’ve got plenty of space and all the right tools.

At home with limited space it’s a ball ache

I’ve been up a few times since the storms and pretty much all of the sneaky, west of the Grove car park, down both valleys, is fine. So if you know your way round them you can still string a good ride together.

Seems to be a lack of updates from the forestry about the red and I didn’t bother riding much of it so can’t comment.

I’m sure I win best paper round ever…

I was one of two who sold/delivered round our local hospital.

I would have to take two bags up with me each day. Dump one at home for later then wander round the wards selling to patients… This meant tips everyday…

We were the envy of the shop 😂

Some embarrassing moments wandering in on things I shouldn’t but mostly folk were more than happy to see you…

I’ll never forgot one guy though who told me if he was asleep just take the money from his wallet and leave his papers.
I dropped the wallet went to pick it up and knocked his piss bottle over that then soaked into my coat!
I went running out waving my piss soaked arm around shouting “errrr I’ve knocked his piss over” a kindly nurse heard then came to my rescue and washed my coat for me 😂

    I’ll never forget that…

A reciprocating saw revolutionised my sneaky trail building so go for it.

You need a couple of batteries so it quickly gets expensive if your not using it that much though.

    I’ve got the topeak one.

    Nice bit of kit.

Think it might be slightly heavier than a normal multi tool but that doesn’t bother me.

Only problem I have with it is with brake calipers between the chain and seat stay. The extension bar it comes with catches on the seat stay meaning you can’t torque the bolt up correctly or it would round out. I keep a normal hex key with me for this.

I’ve been running a stainless 37t chainring up front for my Rohloff from bikepunx.. Use that bike a lot through all sorts of filth and I can’t see any signs of wear. Very pleased with it.

I’ll be buying again once it’s worn then been flipped.. so probably in about 5 years 😂

Windwave are the distributor down in Gosport, and the network is across the country, but the reality is stock is next to zero, think they’re June 2022 or later now and there’ll be a waiting list across all the dealers, so doubt you’ll have better luck going through one particular shop, it’s just get your order in and hope that stock comes in faster than anticipated and those already waiting get something else and move you up the list.

This I’m afraid. I’ve been waiting since early this year as well 😱

They originally said 5ml damper leg and 10ml air side.

A year or two later that changed to 10ml each leg. 👍

This is a recent trend from manufactures to hide some cost savings. Little devils.

Honestly. Just replace the headset. We’ve struggled to find them at the shop I work at.

What you’ll probably find happening is you’ll go through all the usual trouble shooting techniques and eventually just put a new one on and it works perfectly then you’ll wish you just did that in the first place.

Get this constantly at work. It’s frustrating.

Not a fan of SRAM mechs now due to this. Had this happen on fairly new and or undamaged ones. They trick you into messing on trying to get it working 😂

Noticed my last two Z1’s didn’t seem to last as long as I was expecting.

Was just using a basic gauge so I think I’ll measure this latest one instead. See if I was getting false readings

I work in a bike shop. Madison are now the UK distributor for Vittoria.

Ask your LBS to order you one and they’ll put it on back order. Should arrive with them a few days after the 6th if the expected restock date stays the same.

    @easily

Out of interest I just checked expected restock dates for the size you mentioned. Due in at distributor next month on the 6th if you can wait.

A Barzo in the size and spec I want isn’t until December 22 😱

You could be in luck here Kaiser.

I’ve got a (green)large 2015 longitude frame sat unused now since I replaced it with a custom frame.

I ran it with a rohloff as well. The dropouts have convenient holes in which I just put a bolt through to locate the torque arm. Worked fine. No problems.

I ran it with mudguards but biggest tyre I used was a 2.6. I’d say there’s no need to go any bigger really. It was plenty comfortable enough and less of a weight penalty than 29+. I believe tyres are getting limited in choice in that size now as well.

Message me if your interested and I’ll send you some pics.

    Big timber bell fan here..

Perfect for it’s intended use of bombing rough bridleways and warning people of your presence.
I’ve had plenty of times when folk have already been stood out of the way as they heard me coming. Usually with a smile as it sounds like Santa is on his way.
It’s a bit rubbish in anything else though as you have to wiggle your bars to make it ring. Still it’s loud enough that most folk hear you.

Bought a cricket bell awhile back to see if it solves this problem.
Sadly it doesn’t. It’s just not loud enough in my opinion.

If only they’d made the bell part as big as the timber bell it might of been a winner.

I had a frame that I loved but had a few features and dimensions I wanted changing. Couldn’t find anything to replace it off the shelf so custom it was.

Fits like a glove and has the features I wanted..

Having a good idea of what you are wanting is essential I’d say otherwise it’s an expensive gamble surely?

Looks like it’s missing the lock nut so will always come loose.

You usually tighten that cup up in the picture with a screw driver( basically pushing it round, doesn’t take much pressure) then secure with the lock nut

I’ve tried a few different alt bars on my rigid bike but like most things it comes down to how they fit you.

I’ve finally settled on a 12° sweep. Nothing extreme. Just feels right. Anything above that felt awkward for me.

I hope they work out for you but like me you could end up with a pile of bars you don’t need anymore😂

You can remove the mechanism on the bottle and flip it round same with the mount as it’s offset I think

A friend did this to gain some space on a tight frame.
