Also I went for pikes reduced to 120 as I find 32mm legs a bit flexy for my size.

I’m 6’2 with 33″ inside leg(I think.) I went for XL. Perfect fit when riding (40mm stem)but very close stand over clearance. I’ve also had to use a lay back dropper post which was slightly annoying as I was hoping going XL would let me run a newer inline post. My shifters and brakes also hit the top tube but Google says this is a common 29’er problem so I run then slightly loose so they’ll move incase of a crash.

Love it though. You won’t be disappointed.

I had the same thing using an XT double. I just moved the BB spacers to adjust it inboard. You can do this or use chainring spacers.

I feel your pain. Got a dodgy back myself but have found this exercise useful if it’s muscle pain you have trouble with

Same with me. Recently built up a Santon Sherpa and despite expecting some amazing differences it’s basically a bike with slightly bigger wheels. Surprise surprise. Being tall probably helps it feel more normal for me.

I’m more than happy with it though and would probably never bother with a smaller wheeled HT again as it does slightly smooth out the bumps better.

36 is a big fork remember, quite a chunky crown. I needed to reduce to 140 to get my bike feeling right with them on. Internal spacers should reduce ride height if put in the correct place.

That could possibly be the NDH track built a few years back but since been put on hold. I think NDH are working with the forestry to come up with a more permanent solution. It will probably be blocked in places as it was close to SSSI areas and had temporary boardwalk to get over boggy moor sections. Best stay away until things are sorted.

I’m running a 2.1 specialized ground control and have got my fingers crossed a 2.3 purgatory I’ve just bought will fit.

Love the bike but surprised at the lack of clearance. Strangely the tyre sits in front of the recesses w which I’m sure your all aware. Why did they do this? ?

Surprisingly if they are really old a museum may have them. Beamish, in the north east, lapped up a load of old nails a friend found while clearing out his dad of sheds. …

Centralscrutinizer, that may of been a rattle snake or even a boa constrictor you saw but most likely an ordinary adder :) Healthy population of them in the forest with it being surrounded by moorland and that. I usually see a few per year up there but strangely haven’t seen any this year. Put it down to the lack of good sunny days.

I did nearly hit a squirrel the other week then three deer ran in front of me on a trail for a bit until they dived into the trees. My friend ran his dog over with bike. Does that count?

Way to many people lucky to get good riding on there doorstep. I can do bridleway stuff within 5 minutes but that doesn’t count. A fifteen minute car ride gets me to hamsterley forest and I consider myself very lucky to have that. ?

    +1 for NDH

This could be to please the iPhone users. Since Apple stopped using Google maps I don’t think you could view your routes on those devices anymore.

Stage 3 finish marshal could of made a fortune on track pump rental. Thankfully he was a nice guy and didn’t charge ? While a friend was fixing his double blowout a queue formed to use it. Wonder what the total puncture count was on that stage?

For the record I got lucky with my specialized eskar control, had plenty of wind in then mind you. It was a chain snap on stage 3 that got me. ….

Just rebuilt one of these and went for the, degrease, oil soak then drain finish off with grease. To much oil and it just finds it’s way out past the seals.

I’d just add them till it works and your chainline looks good. Don’t stress about specific instructions as some frames/chainsets/chian rings/chain guides etc need a bit of improvising…

I’ve just setup my enduro 29 yesterday and used gorilla tape. I can see where the problems could come from due to the internal shape. I did tear a mm or two from the edge of the tape but would a better solution not just be to tear the tape in the middle and just stick it down the central channel and not nover the bumped section. Gorilla tape tears easy and follows the tear down the roll as you go. Has anyone tried this?

That one’s not your fault. A mate just ran his dog over on the bike taking a load of skin off him. Now that’s something to feel guilty over!

Been looking at memory map for this over the last few days but no ones mentioned it here so far. I’ll have a look at viewranger as well, on the above advice.

Bought a few 9 speed ones last year and they are equally as pap… Busted each one next ride it went on. Gave up and bought SRAM again…. KMC chains seem decent though but I guess they can’t do split links…

Feeling your pain. Got a build waiting for it’s wheels. New LBS teething troubles. Kinda wished I’d ordered them myself now but was trying to be supportive. These things happen though….

Would love to offer adive but my lovely green XL sherpa is sat behind me waiting for parts so I’ll get back to you in a few weeks :)

Oh I suppose I can say I decided on the sherpa over the solaris as it has a slacker headangle, comes in XL and has a 30.9 seat post for which I already have a dropper…

There, thats definately all I can say…

    Thanks all.

Rev’s would be my first choice but just noticed to change travel i’ll need a new air spring. That make the discounted fork more expensive :(

Rim wise if I went Stans Arch or would Flows suit a 29er better? Havent got carbon money!

    +1 for the Specialized Pitch

As mentioned on previous page. One of the first long travel, slack head angle long top tube trail bikes that’ll ride all day. For me it is the for father of what most ride now. Some of the current bikes from other manufactures even look like it as well.

I’ve stil got mine and cannot find anything that is worth replacing it with. It’s battered and bruised but still going strong.

    Long Live The Pitch :)

This idea is covered in a sci fi book I recently read. Set in the future where the earths population excedes the amount of possible jobs. It had some sort of testing after education to decide if you would go onto further education and employment or recieve “basic”.

Friends dog I walk sometimes managed to find, with the help of some other dogs on the field today, a tramps shit in a bag! The smell was horrendous. It was all over his head… Although one of the other dogs walked out with toilet paper hanging from it’s mouth so could of been worse…..

+1 for the Breville model linked above. Had mine 8/9 months now and can’t see why you would spend the extra on a nutri bullet. Does exactly the same thing for £20 odd quid. Doddle to use and clean.

Was there for a week last year in a self catered chalet. We drove over and used verbier as our base. Took big and little bikes. There is supposedly alot of singletrack for the little bikes but we had trouble finding stuff to ride so mainly stuck with the big bikes. I’d say a guide is needed to get the most from little bikes unless you like exploring and map reading.
The lift assisted bike park stuff is really good and we enjoyed our 4 days riding there but the best days we had were at Crans Montana (about an hour and a bit dive north east of Verbier) and Pila over the border into Italy.(about 1 hour 30 south)

Verbier is busy during the days but seems quiet on a night. It’s expensive but a nice place. We stocked up on food in france before crossing into switzerland then just topped up at the local supermarket.

I’d visit the bike park again but wouldnt spend a whole week there for the riding alone without guiding to get the most out of the area.

3 of us for a week was about £600. Fuel, ferries, food, chalet and lift passes.

edit: Posts above seem to confirm the guiding thing. Makes me wish we’d got one but we only had a week and were enjoying the DH and visiting other places.

Now that’s the mountain cycle for me. I loves me some accessories on my mountain cycle and luckily I’m still young enough to handle such a beast of a mountain cycle.

    My bid is in.
