Just as an added point the recent introduction of the TPD laws affecting e-cigs has had a massive effect on how much more plastic I get through. Instead of the 100ml glass bottles I used to buy I now have to buy ten 10ml little plastic bottles instead. I throw piles of these in the recycling each month now and God knows if they actually do get recycled.

I admit to being a bit sceptical of the setup before I actually went.

Turns out you can have a right laugh there. I’d say best with a few friends as they are short runs so it makes the push back up more fun.

All the runs start out fairly tame then as the hill steepens you can get a right pace on if you want. The odd little jump here and there, some nice berms. Happy days….

Almost £10k for a watch! Gasp.

    I wouldn’t spend more than £100 on a watch.

I know it’s massively subjective but crikey.

    £100 pounds on a watch

    I wouldn’t pay £10 :-)

Year old company car. Parked up outside a friends house and faffed with stuff for a bit.

Went into the house but quickly realised I’d left something in the car. Went back out.

    Car gone!

Well it had gone a good 150 yards down the road. Across a junction mounted the kerb, narrowly missing a massive tree, then into some poor woman’s wall, knocked it flat and squashed her plant pots.

That was an interesting call to the boss.

Another vote for Knipex. Pricey but hands down one of the best tools I’ve bought.

Replaces loads of spanners and doesn’t round off nuts like adjustables do.

Their taking the piss with that price….

I was thinking of entering this year ( haven’t been for a couple of years ) but no way am I going to encourage that pricing.

    Paisley freight in the end.

    Seemed best on price/insurance.

    Life lesson learnt:

Overestimate or know what your courier costs will be before charging. Kind of obvious one that now but hey ho. :-)

Yeah I guess I didn’t appreciate how heavy it was gonna be. DH bike with a few extra tyres thrown in.

It’s not a shiply job. It’s all gone in a normal bike box but was expecting about £30.

Just wondering if anyone has sent anything similar so I can compare.

I’m not a regular seller so lesson learnt maybe

Try setting the ride to private, save it then undo private and save. Worked for me in the past.

I did think about the cost after my first post.

I think your friend/GILF :-) is expecting mates rates there. Unless said mate offers to do this I expect she’ll have to consider paying a lot more.

It’s not like it’s getting chucked in a tnt van with a few hundred other things. It’s a one off job. They cost…

Ohhh this got interesting while I’ve been out.

I’m hurting over the price as I’ve ran 125mm, £130 KS posts for years now and they’ve been very reliable for me but the 9point8 is the only post that offers long drop, layback and easy servicing and I’m desperate for more drop.

I guess a small company, made in Canada post with the requirements I need is understandably gonna cost me.

Hopefully it’ll be a good buy and if it lasts as long as my KS posts have then I’ll not complain.

Damn all you normal legged folk who can run inline posts without your knees exploding  you have so much choice…..

Isn’t there some sort of website where you advertise this then transport folk bid to take on.

    survivor

Nice one. Did you guys buy direct from the supplier of elsewhere?

Are you using the layback head or the inline?

Liking the sound of the component quality and ease of maintenance. Goes towards justifying the cost I suppose.

This is one of the reasons I build up a bike rather than off the shelf. Means I can leave the steerer long and then play with heights until I’m happy.

Saying that though I did read somewhere about technique as mentioned above so have been incrementally lowering my stem since. I’m down 10mm from where I started with no I’ll effects so there must be some validity to it to an extent. Tall folk are still gonna be tall and bikes aren’t designed with us in mind so do what feels right for you.

I usually need a UK 10.5 so going on the size up advice I ordered 45’s, what I thought was a UK 11.5 using some site I googled.

45’s have been delivered and it say’s on the box UK 10.5 and they are a perfect fit. Bonus

Checked on Rutland again and there sizing says a 45 is a UK 9.5

Moral of the story is. Don’t trust the internet!

What?? I’m same weight as you kitted up and runing 300psi to give me 30% sag on my Five with a Float X EVOL

I know. Even I think it’s a bit odd to be honest but that’s what my “massively uncalibrated shock pump” is telling me.

I went for the obvious 250psi to start with as that’s what most of my other fox shocks have been run at but I had to keep dropping it to get it to feel right.

OP. Maybe ignore my post. I may be in the minority.

I think if your seeing pro’s with them on it’s more likely they are getting paid to wear them. I’ve never seen the point of wearing Motocross roost guards for DH. Your more likely to mash your elbows/back/shoulders than your stomach and chest I’d say.

If your wanting armour then go with a cycling specific one. I used to use a dainese top suit which did have two small chest plates as well.

They were always really hot though and as I’ve got more skillful and confident over the years I just use a back protector and at push elbow pads if I ride DH now.

I’m a bit suspicious. The bottle seems small and the video shows a tyre being inflated that’s already locked into the beads.

I bet it wouldn’t inflate a loose tyre from scratch.

Just for a comparison, I’m probably not far off 95kg kitted out and run my shock at about 200psi on a segment with a Fox Float DPS EVOL Performance shock. It usually leaves about 3/4mm of shaft showing after bottom out.

    Awesome weekend.

I’ve ridden that valley a lot over the years so knew what to expect from the steep stuff but that teflon grassy bastard that was stage 6 had me flying off both times down it :D one over the bars and one slide for 20ft down the hill on my arse…. Hilarious

As the instructions say, just pull it off.

Maybe use some pliers or something to grip it. It’ll probably have an o-ring inside to hold it on the shaft but a bit of force pops them off.

Edit: I don’t know these hubs. Just going off the above posts, lack of spanner flats and dismantling similar ones.

I did suspect something was a bit off with the event as everyone seemed quiet and a bit bored looking in the finish arena on the RB feed. There was no noise or excitement. Even the riders looked a bit bored!

I guess standing around in the cold waiting for stuff to happens I’ll do that to you.

I’ve killed a couple of XT cranks this way and always given up on the idea of helicoil in favour of just replacement. You may get lucky and find a second hand replacement. Someone out there will of damaged the opposite side to you.

You’ve mentioned qualifications and the go to one is usually cytech but velotech do courses as well. I got a free place on one and it was actually really good(had a good instructor)

I got on the course by volunteering at a local bike recycling place so that’s an option for you if you have one near. Loads of experience to be gained in a place like that.

I’ll second the post above about figuring out random jobs on different or odd bikes It’s the best bit :-)

I’ve done the odd one but only happened at low pressure. You gotta face the fact your bigger than internet or magazine people who go on about low pressures.

My weight comes from my height (ish ) but I usually run 25/30 to be on the safe side. Maybe a bit lower if there’s no rock.

I’d rather them be a touch over inflated than walk home.

Stick more air in big fella. Job done

I think his mistake was wearing the swastika armband.

Dressed as the character in only a German uniform and this wouldn’t of been news worthy i reckon.
His friend stood next to him seems to have had more sense.
